Gene's reality show... and Ozzy's as well.

KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons has posted the following message on his web site:

"Today [Oct. 23], shooting begins on my six episodic television series 'Rock School'. This is a television series that will mostly take place in England. They're filming at my home today and then I'll fly over to the U.K. where I'll be teaching 12-year-olds in their schools how to form a rock band. We will show the auditions for the band, putting individuals into a group together, showing them how to rock and actually writing a song. So far, no info on whether this will be shown in the U.S."

And after this the kids can go straight through to Ozzy's show...

Ozzy Osbourne Gets Real with MTV Rock Band Show
Before MTV turned his family into household names with the reality series "The Osbournes," he helped invent heavy metal with his band Black Sabbath almost 40 years ago and went on to enjoy a huge solo career. Now, the "Prince of Darkness" is launching a new series on the music cable channel to remind people that he is a rock star first.

"Battle for Ozzfest," premiering on Monday at 10:30 p.m. EDT, pits representatives of eight unsigned hard rock bands from across the United States against each other in a series of challenges designed to give one band the chance to grab a coveted spot on his annual Ozzfest tour next year.

In one episode, the contestants must bite the head off a bat, just as Osbourne once did.

It all might be amusing to watch, with the exception of the bat part.

I wonder though, a support slot on the Ozzfest tour is a great way for an unsigned band to get known, but if that band has been on tv for weeks, what's the purpose? They can probably tour on their own merit by then.
