Kevin Chalfant

Postby ScarabGator » Fri Feb 19, 2010 10:02 am

I have just finished Kevin Chalfant's Fly2Fr33dom, Running with the wind, and The Storm's eye of the storm.,...I love this guy so damn much. Why hes not in Journey is beyond me. He is my favorite singer-apart from Steve Perry-of all time. I want every mother on here to give kudos to the man, Kevin CHalfant, an ICON in the making.

Chalfant and Rolie would have been a great incarnation for Journey back in 1995, but Nostrildamus lied and deep sixed Kevin's biggest chance at stardom. Real classy.

SJ you are correct. They would have been awesome. A dream lineup Schon, Rolie, Valory, Smith, Cain, and Chalfant. :D

I recently pulled both of The Storm's albums back out into the rotation, to me the first Storm album would of made an excellent Journey album. I was very excited to hear that KC is working on another Two Fires album as well.

3 members of the band on the cd were from Journey. Rolie, Valory, and Smith. Question if anyone can answer this, Why was Kevin Chalfant only on 1 cd for Shooting Star. That cd was great.

I can't remember who I asked about this...maybe whoever runs his MySpace page?

But, back when that CD came out, I started asking about tour dates...His tenure in Shooting Star was apparently very short. What I heard was the band did not make good on their promises and such so KC exited the band before a tour was even scheduled.

Posters over on the Noticeboard discussed this a while back.
Might want to ask over there...
All I remember is, Kevin bailed out of touring commitments for some reason.

Do you think Rolie was planning on touring w/Journey ...
Don't see a date ... :?
Q. Gregg, you say, "There was nothing more to write about (with Journey) — a bus, a hotel, the lonely road?" If The Storm becomes successful, you're back in the same situation again. So, how are things gonna be different?
A. Times have kind of changed I don’t plan on spending; Journey traveled 7-9 months out of the year traveling, and we're not going to do that. It's just physically impossible. There're families involved. There's no way that's gonna happen. We're not gonna travel like that. That's all there was. That is, literally all we did, is travel and record. Way back when. I just figured there has got to be more to life than this. I gotta take a breather from this. I'm glad I did. I couldn't be happier.

The similarity wasn’t lost on me.
But unlike SP, Kevin is still very much an active musician.
Kevin seemed to have internal issues with 'Shooting Star', wheras Perry is plain fed u with the whole scene.

Love KC.....BUT....F2F, Two Fires, Vu are all EXTREMELY weak efforts in the music and songwriting departments. I like a little punch in my melodic rock. This AOR side has to go.....

I thought he couldn't do any worse than Two Fires and Vu.....F2F proved me wrong. That CD was the worst I've ever bought, and I've bought some lame ones.

TNC didn't say fed up with touring. He said Perry was fed up with the whole scene, i.e., not just touring, but releasing any new music, any one-off shows, television appearance, anything. Yes, on that, I do wonder why, since he keeps saying every interview how much he misses it and thinks about it.

I disagree my man. I like Chalfant's version but the rerecords are way better. More of a live feeling. :D

Kevin's Open Arms was awesome on F2F, but so is Arnel's. I like both CDs, but on the whole Arnel's edges it out b/c of his energy on it vocally. I don't get the total bashing of Arnel at every turn and giving him no due at all by SG.

It's not Arnel. It would be whoever the replacement singer was. I've finally figured it out; SG is just butt hurt that Soto is not in the band. Come on Tater, admit it.
