OT: Rush - Time Machine Tour

Postby fightingilliniJRNY » Thu Apr 08, 2010 11:46 pm

Since the Rush forum gets a visitor once every six weeks, I'll post this here. Rush announced their "Time Machine Tour" today, beginning June 29 in Albuquerque. They'll be doing Moving Pictures in its entirety on the tour, plus plan on debuting some new music from the new album they're working on.

I can't get the dates to format correctly off Rush's website, but they're the first thing that you see on the site.

While I'm glad they will be doing "The Camera Eye", I think it's a waste of time to do the entire album. They could get by without doing at least two or three songs from that album and instead do some songs that Rush fans would actually enjoy hearing.

Wouldn't mind hearing Bytor.... in its entirety, as well as The Necromancer, which among RUSH bootleg traders would be the Holy grail from the Caress of Steel Tour

They could dust of a couple of VERY rare tracks...Fancy Dancer, Bad Boy, and Garden Road...and their demos: Not Fade Away, and Can't Fight It

I'd personally love to hear The Body Electric, Vital Signs(from Moving Pictures so I will), Heresy, War paint, and The Enemy Within...

I can't swear on it but I think they did all of that song at a show I went to a few years ago.

Nah...they have done abbreviated versions, around 4:46 or so....they cut out the long instrumental in the middle.

I've not been there yet, how is it?

I looked for a Milwaukee show on there, but they're playing Summerfest on July 2 - and that's a BIG "hell no".

Ok, I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I can't find ticket prices. Maybe because they aren't on sale yet?
Live Nation doesn't have them, and the Charter One Pavillion site just directs me back to Live Nation. Bah!!

I don't think any of them are on sale yet, sale dates are listed on the right, some just say "soon".

Dave, when bands do an entire album, they do it for 3 reasons. 1) they play the entire album for their hardcore loyal fans, 2) they play it for themselves, as they can get excited by playing something new different nights and not the same ol same ol, and 3), because they are good enough. Off the top of my head, I only know a few bands who do this. It's a feat to be able to pull this off.

Loud, I can handle.

Random factoid: The Who were listed in Guinness as the Loudest Band! Charleton Football Club - 1976 I believe... they topped 120db.
probably nothing these days, but for then, wow.

MAN I wish I could have seen them back in the day!

The Rush concert I went to (the tour AFTER the "Vapor Trails" tour) was the loudest I have ever been to.

Not questioning you at all, but I would think ACDC is the loudest band. Maybe the year of 1976 was the Who, but I bet ya ACDC is the loudest now...the louder they are, the less articulate you have to be. :)

I'm a big fan. It's a cool setting, and the crowd feels right on top of the action. It only seats about 8,000, so I have a feeling tickets are going to be at a premium. They have a few sections in the front on ground-level, and then the back sections rise up in traditional "bleacher style" seating. It's great to see a show right on the lake, too, looking right over the skyline. I saw Journey there on the Generations Tour. I think that was the first year of the venue, so they should be running even smoother now. The parking situation is not good - basically, there is no parking nearby.

That Brian Johnson can even still talk is still amazing to me, the way he sings. If I tried singing like him, I think my throat would explode, instantly decapitating myself.

I wasn't living in the area when that was built, so after I'd moved back, I was looking at info for some show or another, and I was like "What the hell is Charter One Pavillion? Did they rename the World again?" (yeah, it will always be "the World". I'm not bothering to learn a new name every other week)

Rush is husband's fav band, but even he still says of all he's seen, AC/DC was the loudest, and that he still has hearing loss from a show he saw in the 80's, lol.

Jim Breuer's AC/DC routine is hysterical: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75ewRjoI7QU
