Mine was filmed in Santa Cruz (mostly). Lost Boys! I spent some time down there right after I watched the movie (by chance, not on purpose). I talked to a waitress there that was actually an extra in the movie, and she told me that they filmed most of it there, and they filmed the cave parts off the Oregon Coast up by Portland.

Standing on the steps where the dude played Saxophone was awesome! They filmed a good bit of it on the boardwalk, and I spent an entire night there. They changed and added a lot of things on the boardwalk for the movie, but it was still awesome! For those who have seen the movie... Do you remember the caveman dummy who was sitting in the lift chairs that go around the boardwalk? When I went there... he was actually sitting in one of them. I thought that was pretty funny.

There were a lot of freaks in that movie (talking about how they dressed, and hairstyles). When I was there... people looked JUST LIKE THAT!
Talk about a very liberal city...

The scene where the vampires bit the guys on the beach was filmed at Half Moon bay in California. While I was down there, a buddy and I were out partying, and stopped there at 3 in the morning... there were THREE Keg parties going on, and we were invited to all of them like we were their best friends. What a fucking AWESOME night! There was a cool breeze coming off of the ocean, hot girls, cold beer, and the sound of some bad-ass waves crashing in the dark. DAMN that was awesome!!!

I vote Lost Boys into the "greatest movie of all time" award. And yours?

I love the movie Over The Edge and it was filmed all around where I live now. I went to a website that shows the scenes from the movie and from today. It's a trip!

One of my favourites was a movie called The Quiet Man, starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara. It was filmed in (I think) 1952, on location in a tiny village in the west of Ireland called Cong. At the time it was a huge deal for that village, the most exciting event the locals had ever experienced - this was a backwater part of Ireland which in the 1950's was still very much a horse and cart and thatched cottage environment.

I visited the village a few years ago and was amazed to see that many of the buildings and locations used in the movie had been preserved exactly as they were and basically the whole village is one big museum dedicated to the movie - nearly 60 years later.

Favorite films filmed in Iowa... two actually Field of Dreams... and Bridges of Madison County... great stories both.
Next great movie that will be released from being filmed here will be Smitty... look for it I think this fall to be released.

I was told by people in the Bay Area (since I was living in Japan at that time) that when this movie came out, everyone stopped cruising around in their regular areas and went to start hanging out in Santa Cruise. There used to be a huge cruise strip in my area and basically when this movie came out it became a ghost town like almost overnight. The cruise strip in my area ran on the El Camino between Hillsdale Shopping Center in San Mateo, CA and the Highway 92 overpass (if you happen to know about this area).

Damn! When I was a kid and my family moved out of the Sunset in San Francisco and we relocated to Redwood Shores. My junior high and highschool years was in Redwood Shores/Belmont area. I went to Carlmont for two years.

I've always been a sucker for a good western, especially those directed by John Ford and starring John Wayne. John Ford shot at least 7 of his westerns in Monument Valley Utah. Stunningly beautiful country. It made me fall in love with the west.

The Straight Story is a wonderful movie directed by David Lynch & beautifully filmed in Iowa & Wisconsin (my home state). If you're looking for a movie with a lot of heart and soul check this one out.
