NEVER guess who rode with me today!!!

Postby G.I.Jim » Sat Nov 12, 2011 6:47 am

I was part of the Veterans Day parade here in Columbia today (as I have for the last 11 years), and my job was supposed to be driving our Adjutant General (who is the parade's Marshall) from the podium to the front of the parade where he got into an up-armored HUMVEE. I saw him approaching the vehicle, and had my PVT get out, render the salute and open the door for him. Out of nowhere, I see a Secret Service Agent open the back door of my Hummer and in comes Governor Rick Perry! I looked like this... :D

I ended up escorting him, his Secret Service Agent, and our AG to the front of the parade which was about 10 blocks away. He was very nice, but all I could think about was his debate blunder the other night. It was awesome to get to see him, and he shook my hand and thanked me for my service. I also had our Congressman Joe Wilson (Mr. "YOU LIE!!!") come up to me and hand me a business card today. I think that's the 4th one he's given me.

I just had to share, because it turned out to be a pretty awesome day. I also had the police chief from the city of Columbia ride with me through the parade. VERY fun day, and I'd like to thank all of our vets today!!! Without you and your service, we wouldn't have what we have today in this country.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

No problem with Perry's prefrontal cortex interacting with the medial temporal lobe today?

In layman's terms, he didn't suffer a brain freeze today, right?

Sorry about that Jim. I don't really wish the guy dead, but the possibility of a fundamentalist christian becoming president I find truley frightening. This is a guy who believes there is a better world waiting for him beyond this one. You don't want a guy like that in charge of nuclear weapons.

Yes I do. He's not a radical Muslim who believe's that he'll go to heaven and get virgins if he kills people, he's a Christian who believe's that Christ died on the cross and that through his belief in him, he'll go to heaven. He also believes that all men are created equally. What's so bad about that? Our president associates with some of the most radical people on this planet, so yeah... I'd rather have a God fearing Christian in office any day of the week.

Congrats to you for your brush with the famous. That was some GAF he did though! May cost him most of the votes. He is not very good with the press, you have to be more on your game than that. What is that department that helps kids learn stuff and the people who help them learn stuff. Next to him sits Ron Paul whispering cheat notes. Oi! If Ron Paul has to school you, your in trouble.

Ron Paul reminds me when he speaks of this really over animated guy they took off the Scooter ads. "AT NO COST to ME! He creeps me out when he talks!

I have no problem with Perry, he just needs to get it more together.

Anyone who thinks there is abetter life beyond this one... and who belives the day of reckoning is coming, is dangerous. As to all men being created equally, where does he stand on gay marriage?

Duncan, almost all political people make a GAF from time to time. Now if you do it all the time, like our VP! Seems they never let him talk much any more.

My mistake on that one Duncan, I did not read what you said fully. Speaking of GAFS.......Sorry............I have now. As for fundamentalist Christian becoming president, we have already had some. Maybe a person who thinks about the souls of others before nuking mankind into oblivion, might be a good choice after all. Someone who does not value life, and looks at it as we have no value and are just worm food might not hesitate to speed up the process.............. You know survival of the fittest and all.

Jim,

Just pondering what you said, and you have to understand I am speaking from a position of ignorance here. Nevertheless, isn't there a conflict between a presidentail candidate having to "appear" to be Christian and the Constitution? Could you ever see someone declaring themselves an athiest becoming president?

Are you suggesting an athiest doesn't value life? The complete opposite is true. If you belive this is the only life you have you will value it . Can the same be said of someone who believes that that that they only have to past the "test" (whether that be christian or muslim) to granted a life in paradise? Doesn't make sense to me.

Duncan bottom line is, you hate Christians and Christianity. This is your whole soapbox. I have never talked to anyone so fearful of a group of peace loving people in my life! True Christians are to value life, so why do you think a Christian would want to Nuke anyone? Seriously your prejudices are outrageous! I was not meaning all atheists would be quick to hit the button, I was just giving you as equally a silly argument as you do for fearing a Christian!

I've always found it rather interesting how atheists claim to be as moral or even moreso than Christians but they've done enough mental gymnastics to make it OK to be bigoted against people who are religious. Bigotry certainly is alive and well, isn't it?

The moment I wake up
Before I put on my makeup
I say a little pray for you
While combing my hair now,
And wondering what dress to wear now,
I say a little prayer for you

There is no bigotry at all. I totally respect your right to believe what you want. However, it is equally my right to voice my opinion where I see religion having a direct threat to and influence over my life.

What you are failing to realize, Dave is Atheists do not get their morality from religion. The pious claim that morality comes from, and is sympatico with religion...then choose to be hypocrites when caught doing something immoral. Their actions directly fly in the face of what they 'claim' to believe in....there is no such dissonance with the non-believer, as they aren't walking contradictions.

I would have sincerely thanked him for all the great laughs. Complete piece of shit douche is Perry.

If this truly despicable asshole ever approached me, I wouldn't give two shits about going to jail- I'd punch him in the Goddamn face, after telling him to button the fuck up. What he said to the President was infatile bullshit.

The moment I wake up
Before I put on my makeup
I say a little pray for you
While combing my hair now,
And wondering what dress to wear now,
I say a little prayer for you

You just need one of these.
