I'm not watching until tomorrow when Jeff is on.

First time I will have ever watched American Idol. I might as well let my wife shove a dildo up my ass while it's on and go full in on this. Just embrace it right?

Damn... about to cut it off tonight. Most of these performers are totally wrong for the material, and it's painful to watch. There were a few standouts - one was the chick who did "Show Must Go On", and the dude who sang "Crazy Little Thing Called Love". I hate everyone else, lol. Can't wait for JSS!!!

I don't have a clear favorite. This years batch is weak. All of the remaining ones have some sort of weakness. I told my wife that Phillips gets that look in his eyes like a serial killer getting ready to snap.

Or a a Dave Matthews clone...there are a ton of these guys out there - I wonder if Dave will show up to AI, that would be weird.

Everytime I see fuzzy face Elise came up, I say to my g/f Elise Testosterone...I am just being a dick though, she has some good moments, but has some difficulty singing certain types of songs / styles. What I like about AI over the other shows (Voice, etc) is that they really work with the performers and make them miles better than where they started from.

btw - the medley with Brian May and the drummer was pretty lifeless - I have a feeling it will be much better with JSS and Adam

That show is EVERYTHING that is wrong with music in 2012.

Great to see Jeff on national TV but I don't need a the Freddie Mercury robot Marc Martel. In the early 60's Terry Stafford couldn't have a career because he sounded too much like Elvis.

They could have at least introduced the band members before going back to their shitty scripted crooning contest.

This one goes out to Marc Martel and the Home Depot Boston guy

Last night was the first show I watched this year as well. I liked some of them. I could see where a couple would do good in their own style. Don't know names, so....

I haven't seen AI since Fantasia won it, so it's been a long time. I don't care for the show. But seeing JSS on that stage was epic. Good for you, Jeff!

The way I understood the Queen Extravaganza is that it is a "queen TRIBUTE" tour. Produced yes, by QUEEN, but a TRIBUTE tour. So to me, it doesn't seem unusual they'd want to find a "clone" type to do some of the music. Though I would love to see JSS more showcased in this performance, I'm GLAD they did have him front and center in the middle at the end. His voice is distinctive, and I could hear him the whole time. He soared in his back up parts too. Must have been so exciting for him. That Marc has an incredible resemblance to Freddie. For a TRIBUTE, I can see exactly why he was picked. And I think it's awesome that JSS was also hand picked. Just wish I wasn't going to be away when they tour FL. I would have brought my kids to that show.

I understand where you are coming from but getting a total soundalike goes against everything they said when recruiting Paul Rodgers to tour with them and all that Brian May said when Jeff was disrespected by Journey.

You can be a tribute without having a clone.

Right, and if they were looking to replace Paul and tour as "Queen" as they did with him, I would get your feelings more. But being a tribute thing, a tribute to Freddie, and the band they were, this makes sense to me. I guess I'm glad they picked Jeff at all. And who's to say what Queen the band will do in the future. This seems to be a very unique thing I can't say I've ever heard of a band doing before! Showcasing young, unknown talents with their music. Even down to the guitar and bass players. I find it interesting, and I think it will be quite a production.

Marc is not only a vocal doppelganger for Freddie.. he's a pretty humble fella... There's no way he won't be the main draw for the Queen Extravaganza..,

No one is gonna pay to see the guitarist, drummer and bass player who play note for note perfect performances of the originals..

People wanna hear those songs sung like the record... like Freddie... because Freddie's the one we miss.. and Marc is the closest they're gonna get...

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

I agree, but do agree with Ed when it comes to that Boston clone, my gawd the guy has zero charisma on stage and IMO his voice isn't good enough to make up for it. But again I agree, that's what they were looking for here and I think having Jeff on board is going to add more of an original flavor. I was pleasantly surprised with that Marc dude, he's got a great voice and does Queen very well. And the band wasn't half bad either. I think if Jeff and Marc can be doing most of the lead vocals for the 2+ hour show it's going to kick major ass. Jennifer has good voice too I like her tone ~ audition http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fg_zs-FIJus But that dude with the blue tie on the other side of Jeff I just didn't get, wasn't impressed with his vocals or stage presence. Of course I'd rather see 2+ hours of JSS on the Queen material (just like the 40 songs or so on his dvd) but if Jeff and Marc can split most of the duties with a little Jennifer thrown in I think it could be a great show. Not to mention the production/design team that put on Pink Floyd's The Wall and Rolling Stones, etc, will probably be great visually as well. Looking forward to the July show here! Love me some LIVE Queen JSS! LOL I'm curious as hell to see who is doing what songs? There is a few I can think of from that dvd that just have JSS written all over them like.......Dragon Attack, Fat Bottom Girls, Radio GaGa and of course My Best Friend......one of my faves from the dvd.

I don't want it close, I just want it done well with a slightly different take. Jeff does that. So do others. If I want a clone I have many Queen DVD's to watch.

Clones are not at all interesting.

Didn't we all used to make fun of Elvis impersonators?

I also wish the douchebag guitarist who did the back flip would have fell on his fucking head!
