I don't have anything to gain or lose here but I have to say that if laying it on someone thick and heavy can help them see themselves for what they are around here, well, that might actually work like an intervention.

I do suspect this has been tried before with minimal results.

Yes, I picked up on that straight away - it's part of her MO. Actually, she's done it at least 2ce in this thread. My point is, if everyone just replies to her bait-posts with 'whatever Phyllis' and ignores whatever she's saying, she's eventually going to run out of ammo and have to quit fighting. But she is very good at pushing the right buttons to get a response, and that makes it really hard to do (especially when some people actually seem to enjoy the sport.)
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

This isn't fucking BT. If you don't like graphic language may I suggest Disney.com ?!

We are adults here and sometimes in heated discussions some adult language is used. It's not the end of the world. Most people get over it two seconds later. Most people know what was said was just in the heat of the moment and not an actual hate.
The only person who doesn't see it that way at all is Phyl. Fuck her and the Rainbow she flew in on :)

I know B, and I'm not asking anyone to lay off the insults, just tone down some of the language. It's a pretty selfish request, actually - the feminist side of me is screaming 'WHY AREN'T YOU UP IN ARMS ABOUT SOME OF THIS SEXIST, ABUSIVE LANGUAGE' and yet part of me thinks she invites everything that is flung at her.

So, for me, B - please? - keep riding her arse if you see fit, but maybe lay off some of the language? I can handle swearing, but 'sweaty putrid meat ditch' and the like has me squirming to defend her, and that makes me confyoozled.

That was my fuel to the fire thing....but sometimes you just can't help it...she can't let any of it go...she pushes and
pushes and then pushes some more...and well even the most even keeled person would have to respond...they have had more than enough! As I said there comes a point where you just say fuck it enough is enough!!

With all due respect, that is not a sexist statement, merely an observation about the stench emerging from the loin areas. ;)

Wait til you've been on the Martyr Merry-go-round four or five or twenty times. Like I said, it's exhausting.

Fortunately for us, there are fun people around. Hi Portland! (Waving madly) Shall we go have fun? I know, let's out-do the clique and go form a cadre!!

One of two things will happen, you will learn to ignore it or you'll be driven away by it. I really used to hate that stuff, and I've complained about it too, but I've grown to ignore it because it's just boys trying to be funny (in their own screwed up kind of way) and entertain each other. I barely notice it anymore. It's all for effect. I'm of the opinion that they don't actually speak to women that way for real. I've not heard B or SJ do it and I haven't met Dean, but I'm pretty much figuring he wouldn't either. And yes, I tossed out a pretty bad one a number of pages back, but it was only to be funny and poke fun at the whole "you want to be ones of the boys" bullshit.

That's what I love about this place. There is a group of people here that will make jokes and laugh about that kind of shit and you don't find that many places. Also many sites are censored down so badly you just can't have this kind of fun. :D

I am a nurse who has seen it all...so I guess I am not one to see the humor in that^^^but boys will be boys...and well I
am not a prude by any means...so as BJG says I just figure it's the "guy" talk! You all have your own idea of what is funny and
what makes you all tick...I am not one to rain on your little parade!

I say we all clique together and just enjoy the friends we have. I have no qualms against the fact I made friends here. I don't deny it nor am I ashamed of it. I think like you say if we have a tiff we get it over Pm it and move on. Not all personalities on a board are going to click. Some will clash, but all can get along in the long run.

I think Deano has done enough and Ari too to get the peace pipe smoking. Now it is up to Blueskies to take the constructive criticism and learn from it.

I personally wish she would understand that as hard as it is to hear, the ones who are telling you exactly what bugs people are trying to do you a favor. I like you when your nice, but when your on a tangent I would rather shove my hand in a meat grinder than bother to discuss things with you.

Blueskies I think kindness and forgiveness go a long way. I am trying hard to reach out to you right now but from past experiances I am wary. You see like Ari I have been bit by you before when I have tried to reason with you. Take an olive branch girl and join in the fun. Life is sweeter this way. :D

Anyway - please, pretty please, ease up on the graphic insults? Thanks.

I really used to hate that stuff, and I've complained about it too, but I've grown to ignore it because it's just boys trying to be funny (in their own screwed up kind of way) and entertain each other.

Not TRYING to be funny, it simply IS damn funny    . I laugh every time I come across a phrase like "putrid meat ditch."

Yeah that's just a killer phrase!!!

Now I KNOW you meant to do the laughing emoticon, not the eye rolling one. Admit it, it's funny as fuck.

No, it's actually really really gross.

You little turd!!

The WORD is gross.

If you must fling insults relating to female private areas, might I suggest "snagglesnatch". Still kinda sick, but you have to admit, it kind of has a cartoon feel. A guy friend named his ex-gf that and I've always thought it was funny. Like Lynn said, as long as it isn't aimed at me, I don't really care.
