Can I ask once again why these kids weren't in school yesterday? The incident occurred when they should have been eating their lunches and going to recess

Yeah, I saw that on Good Morning, America this a.m. Sounds like it was a publicity stunt or something...lame-os.
Ehwmatt, the kids apparently had a minimum day (teachers conferences)...we never had short days or as many days off as kids get now!

Here is raw video of the balloon taking off with the dad in charge of its release, and there is obviously no basket on the bottom of the ballon. Therefore, there would have been nowhere for anyone to be "inside" the balloon. It was obviously all a big publicity stunt by an adrenalin junky who is deseperate for attention. But hey, it got him on Larry King and I'm sure he loves the excitement.

This story shows how far down the toilet the news media has sunk. I never watch, so I learned about the story here! They should have checked sources behind the scenes. They just sensationalize and oversensationalize, and present ONE story ad nauseum. 24/7 cable news stations have sunk to an all time low. Obviously looking for something to fill their time slots with. Because, you know, there is nothing else going on. They now have rotten egg all over their botoxed faces.

I think she's just doing what the fucking moron "man of the house" wants her to do. I can bet you if this guy was removed, you'd never hear of her or these kids again. It's all the husband's doing. As long as fuckface is there, we will continue to see and hear about this family.

I mean really, think about it. If it is up to her, she'd be out buying stuff for the house and kids, not out at the welding shop purchasing helium gas and aluminim blanket materials.

There now saying that the father called the media or something like that before he called for help when the balloon was aloft with his kid in it. This father may be getting busted.

From what I heard today the children and parents are being questioned again. This is a huge backfire and they probably will have to pay for the cost. Family Services are also involved & may step in to protect the kids. They make Jon & Kate look somewhat rational in my opinion.

Funny....but I doubt even Yoko and how weird she is wouldn't even be interested in what this guy is doing with hellium balloons and his kids. I'll bet the father's going to be getting busted over this stunt. Any day now we will be hearing audio tapes of him calling the media when this happened. We already got the 9-11 tapes, but again, he didn't call 9-11 first, he called the media camera crew in their chopper first.

Ok, I can safely conclude that this bumfuck needs to be institutionalized, his assets seized to pay for the costs of Thursday's stunt, and his kids sent to a better home

My money sits with the wife and children coming "clean" and implimenting the moron and his sceme.

The guy claims that this balloon uses a million volts of electricity on the outter skin for one minute intervals while floating to steer itself. I saw the clip of the piece of shit landing sideways in the field, as most everyone else did. Easy, take this fucking thing apart and see if there are any wires etc. in it's design. It's nothing but an oversized balloon full of helium only. No wires, no gauges, no capacitors, no electronics. This balloon is just one big empty space, much like what's inside that moron's head.....empty space.

Criminal charges expected to be filed... not much of a charge on the local level, but they will look for some federal charges to ramp up the stakes.

The wife won't come clean. She's as loony as he is. She thinks they've met aliens b/f or been aliens in a past life, something like that. I saw an old clip of her on Wife Swap and she's bizarro too. And he was abusive to the other wife on Wife Swap and screams at his kids on the show from the clips I've seen.

Yeah, and the good thing is, hopefully this ends their over due 15 minutes of fame. So far I seem to get a sense that their fame is going away because of this stunt, because there are claims that since this incident, some upcoming plans for a show featuring this family or one or both of the parents have now been called off and cancelled.

I've seen clips on youtube of the balloon as it was floating around and there is absolutely no way that the kid could have gotten inside of it because there are no doors, windows, openings, etc. It appeared to be completely sealed up. If he would have gotten inside of it, there would have been visual evidence of such a breach on the surface of this balloon. And watching the vids, there was none.

Authorities believe the alleged plot was hatched in an attempt by the Heene family "to better market themselves for a reality show at some point in the future," Alderden said. "They were lying."

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office will recommend charges of conspiracy, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, false reporting to authorities, and attempting to influence a public servant against the Heenes.

Now it's reported that the father may have been involved in a domestic violence against his wife due to a previous 911 call where the cops when to the house and heard the husband yelling inside the house and once inside observed what could be physical evidence on the face of the wife in that she may have been struck.

That guy's a butt-nugget and I hope he doesn't harm his family.

Well, well, well. Latest news:

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) – A Colorado sheriff said Sunday it was a hoax when parents reported that their 6-year-old son was in a flying saucer-like helium balloon hurtling away from their home.

Sheriff Jim Alderden said Richard and Mayumi Heene "put on a very good show for us, and we bought it."

"We believe that we have evidence at this point to indicate that it was a publicity stunt done with the hopes of marketing themselves or better marketing themselves for a reality television show at some point in the future," Alderden said.

The sheriff said no charges had been filed yet, and the parents weren't under arrest. He said he expected to recommend charges of conspiracy, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, making a false report to authorities and attempting to influence a public servant.

Some of the most serious charges each carry a maximum sentence of six years in prison and a $500,000 fine.

Alderden said all three of the Heenes' sons knew of the Thursday hoax, but likely won't face charges because of their ages. The oldest son is 10. One of the boys told investigators he saw his brother get in the balloon's box before it launched.

Alderden said 6-year-old Falcon may not have even been in the rafters in the garage, as originally reported, based on where the investigators were when the boy entered the house.

"For all we know he may have been two blocks down the road playing on the swing in the city park," he said.

Heene, a storm chaser and inventor, and his family have appeared on the reality show "Wife Swap." Alderden said the couple met in acting school in Hollywood.

Alderden said interviews with the parents Saturday resulted in enough information to get a warrant to search the house. He said they were looking for computers, e-mails, phone records and financial records.

Alderden said the children were still with the parents Sunday morning, and child protective services had been contacted to investigate the children's well-being.

The sheriff initially said there was no reason to believe the incident was a hoax. Authorities questioned the Heenes again after Falcon turned to his dad during a CNN interview Thursday night and said what sounded like "you said we did this for a show" when asked why he didn't come out of his hiding place.

Falcon got sick during two separate TV interviews Friday when asked again why he hid.

A Colorado State University physics professor, using dimensions given by Richard Heene, had told sheriff's officials as they were tracking the balloon Thursday that it was plausible for it to lift off with 37-pound Falcon inside.

Once the device landed, sheriff's officials discovered it was made with plastic tarps taped together and covered with aluminum foil, with a utility box made of a very thin piece of plywood, cardboard on the side, held together with string and duct tape, Alderden said.

Using the true dimensions, the professor determined it could not have launched with the boy inside, Alderden said.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to hear that their 6-year-old son was beaten and verbally abused for saying "It was for the show" on Larry King Live.
