It'd be nice if there were more guitars and less keyboards and production, but it's actually fairly decent. Decent hooks and he hits some pretty high notes. I'm surprised. It's not really MR, but it's also not horrible. The production is overdone, but it's interesting to listen to. It's kind of like a male Britney Spears album I guess. I don't think I'd buy it, but it's certainly better than I expected.

I like the song from the 2012 soundtrack. His clear voice is a refreshing change from the graveled glass sound that seems to be very popular at the moment.

Is that on his own album? There were a few very Mercury moments on his CD particularly in the slower songs. I was surprised to say the least. I can't stand looking at the guy, but if he can reel in his persona and just be a freakin' singer/artist, he could have a future that means something instead of being a flavor of the week. Peeps are pretty annoyed with him about the AMA thing. That was either very stupid on his part or brilliant. I tend to lean towards the latter though I thought the performance sucked, but it sure got people talking.

It's titled Time For Miracles, track 14 on his own album.

He said in an interview I read that the CD is a mix of different things and just the way he wanted to do it, even though that's not the usual way.

Lambert is a talent no doubt. But he is clearly mistaken in his perception that he's "pushing the envelope" like Bowie and Mercury. Bowie and Mercury never flaunted their sexual preference, they implied some things but really left it to the audience to mull over. Lambert isn't doing that. His AMA performance wasn't "tongue in cheek" or subtly suggestive, instead it was simply overtly sexual.

He IS right that there is a double standard when it comes to female performers being given a pass on being sexual onstage... but that's just how it is in this hetero-sexually dominated world.

Lambert needs to get over that, learn to "play the game", get that credibility via sales... and THEN he can use the influence that comes with that credibility to further his personal causes.

Doing it now will cause him to be labeled controversial, and be avoided by the very outlets that could help him... like ABC (who just canceled his Good Morning America gig.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Interview on Yahoo about the show

I agree with his last comment.....

Adam Lambert on Outrage: "I'm Not a Babysitter, I'm a Performer"
By Gina DiNunno
Wed Nov 25, 6:13 AM PST

Following a racy performance on the American Music Awards, Adam Lambert says he got carried away, but he is not apologetic.

ABC cancels Adam Lambert's Good Morning America performance

"I'm not a babysitter, I'm a performer," Lambert said Wednesday on The Early Show. "Honestly, [children] didn't cross my mind. It was almost 11 o'clock, it was a night show, I was there with an audience full of mostly adults. Sometimes I forget, 'Oh, there's a camera on.' I'm come from the theater, and I'm programmed to look at who's in the live audience."

According to Lambert, there was a lot of "adult material on the AMAs this year" — including Lady Gaga smashing whiskey bottles and Janet Jackson grabbing a man's crotch — and it's up to "parents to discern what their child is watching."

ABC receives complaints over Adam Lambert's AMA performance following Lambert's S&M-themed performance at Sunday night's ceremony, during which he flipped off the audience, kissed a keyboardist and fondled several of his backup dancers. Lambert also pulled the head of one dancer into his crotch.

The Idol finalist also feels that there is a double standard when it comes to male and female performers. "If it were a female pop performer that were doing the moves that were on the stage, I don't think there'd be nearly as much outrage at all," said Lambert.

"I think it's because I'm a gay male," said Lambert. "It's a double whammy."

Though the 27-year-old admitted he "did get carried away," he also said he was not trying to offend anyone in the process. "My intention was to interpret the lyrics of my song and have a good time up there."

So what would he do differently if given a do-over? "I would sing it a little bit better."

IMO alot better was needed.

And how can you watch what your kids watch if it is a live show?

And the gay part is right, who wants to see to guys up on stage doing that?? Maybe the people in California :D Music is about gimicks for the no talent people. That is what he is no talent...

And why should children cross his mind, he is gay and he or is gay "partner" will never be able to have a child of their own, so screw what other people see or think.
Sorry but I am dead set against gay rights. And people like him just put me more against it. No I do not have anything against gay people, jsut how they act.....

Article:

"There’s really no other way to score it, seeing how Good Morning America lost out on one charming, cheeky interview (read what my colleague Ken Tucker had to say about that) and two bad-ass musical performances from American Idol season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert this morning, handing them all over to its rival Early Show because, um, why exactly? Oh yeah, apparently ABC suits didn’t trust the firebrand singer would understand the inherent difference between a 10:55 p.m. performance at a decidedly racy awards show and an 8:30 a.m. gig at a benign, watch-with-your-cereal-and-coffee news program. [Insert eye-roll here.] This isn’t to say I’ve changed my tune on Lambert’s Sunday-night showing. Some 36 hours later, I stand by my contention that his AMA performance of “For Your Entertainment” was a vocal and aesthetic disappointment. But ABC’s finger-wagging disinvitation — “Given his controversial American Music Awards performance, we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning” — seems as disingenuous as it does counter-intuitive. (Really? Why not just put a big bow on top of that ratings gift you’re giving to Harry Smith & Co.?)

The good news for the Glambert Nation is their guy sounded terrific on his one-two punch of the heartfelt anthem “Whataya Want from Me” and the effervescent party-starter “Music Again.” From a lyrical standpoint, the former track sounded like it could’ve been written specifically as a response to a nation thrown into a tizzy by Sunday night’s crotch-fondling, beej-simulating hootenanny. The song (co-written by Pink) contains a plea for patience and understanding from a guy still finding his way in the world (“Just don’t give up/ I’m working it out /Please don’t give in/ I won’t let you down”) and a special thanks to the hard-core fans who’ve never questioned his judgment in the first place (“It’s me, I’m a freak/ But thanks for loving me/ ‘Cause you’re doing it perfectly”). I won’t lie: There was a certain poignancy hearing Adam respond to the “too gay”/”not gay enough”/”too racy”/”not well-sung”/”what about the children?” critics with his pitch-perfect refrain of “Whataya want from me?”

As for “Music Again” (my second-favorite track on FYE, FYI), I can’t imagine a more appropriate track through which Adam could send the message “let’s put the focus back on the actual songs, eh?” Adam’s band sounded slightly canned on this number — I’m guessing there was some kind of backing track supplementing the overall sound in the tiny CBS studio — but Adam’s lead vocal was stellar, especially taking into account the song’s rapid-fire wordplay and octave-scaling swoops. There aren’t many artists on the pop chart today capable of pulling that off live. Thanks, Adam, for reminding us you’re a rare bird indeed."

I think Adam is the best thing to come out of AI in a long time. He's got a really interesting voice (except when he screeches), and is a great performer. Hasn't made some great decisions recently (CD photo, AMA performance) and I didn't hear the AMA song but he sounded great today on CBS. I don't think his antics on the AMA were appropriate for that venue, and probably any venue, but is it really any worse than MJ or any other singer grabbing his/her crotch, pelvic thrusts, wagging tongues, simulated sex? Despite these recent events, I think he'll do as well as Carrie Underwood.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

That performance...

Postby White Queen » Sat Nov 28, 2009 7:43 am

Did anyone else think that performance was like watching a trailer for the 'Bruno' movie?

"Just a male version of Britney - nothing original".

I am so disappointed that this is the direction he's decided to take. Reminds me of The Scissor Sisters!
However, he is such a talent, he really could sing anything! I expect, like Mika, he will quickly gain a
huge fan base! I just wonder what he will do next, as he is without doubt one of the most talented singers
we've seen in a long time!
