I'm with Nat.....I just gave up my flip flops about a month ago. When there was actually snow on the ground. If it was still just cold, with no snow, I would still be wearing them.

What is your normal average temp down there in the winter? I am trying to decide where I want to move to in a few years. I am thinking about the Carolinas. But I never really considered Georgia.

Massive storm comin down here til midnight... I was damn lucky just to get my car all the way into the garage. Had to get out and salt the ice (my garage leads up a slight incline) so I could make it all the way.

Started snowing here this morning. Its supposed to keep up over night. I already went out and plowed out the cul de sac so my neighbors could get out and not get stuck in the middle of the road and Ill have to do it again by morning. Current Temp is 19 degrees. the roads suck because the County trucks wont plow at night anymore due to budget cuts. Cant wait for all the cars in the ditch tomorrow morning.

Isn't it sad that we've come to the point in our once great country where most places that get snow 9 months of the year can't afford to plow its roads so its citizens can make it to work?

Here in the middle, it's currently -2 degrees with the windchill it feels like -27. Tomorrow it's supposed to get down to -24, and that's not factoring in the windchill.... flip-flops? Pftt... ... I don't even wanna hear it...

So .........we can all come visit you in the Aussie Summer and go home during your winter. Sweet! Dibs on the guest room! (Knowing most Aussies........that would entail a sleeping bag outside complete with deadly snakes as bunk companions.  Talk about getting rid of unwanted guests. )

Parts of the UK went down to -21C last night (that's -6F), which is almost unheard of over here. The entire country is white.

I'm with Nat.....I just gave up my flip flops about a month ago. When there was actually snow on the ground. If it was still just cold, with no snow, I would still be wearing them.

Normally here in south Georgia the winters are very mild. It may freeze a couple nights a year but never any snow or shit like that. The normal highs are upper 50's, thats the dead of winter.
Now whats happening in Florida right now is a total fluke. When I lived in Orlando we wore shorts nearly everyday of the year. Maybe 2-3 mornings would be really chilly but by noon you are putting the sweatshirt away.
Now the summers in both places-except for south Florida-are extremely humid and hot. You'll get used to it but until you do it can be rough.

Fluke.. you can say that!?! In all my years in living in Central Florida I can't recall a time when it was this cold for this long. They are predicting that tomorrow we only get up to 38 and have a chance of SLOW FLURRIES! That's down right COLD for us Floridians who are used to pretty mild winters and HOT summers.

Stay warm everyone, if it's cold here, I can only imagine what it's like north of us.

Ratgirl, I know what you are talking about. When I lived in Orlando in the 90's I never saw the temps we are experiencing right now. And I hope I never do again.

The engineering company that I work for has company vans that we use to drive into the chemical plants around here. We get them washed by a mobile carwash dude every few weeks. Well he just showed up here to wash the company vans. It's 22 degrees this morning here in Houston and he had to stop because the water was freezing on the vans! He must really need the money!!
