no excuse? this comming from Goddess of all excuses.... Im still mad at you, you not-goer-you !

Just too expensive, my friend. I have EM in July, and couldn't have done both......and me and Chicago are pretty much opposite ends of two countries. :( The flights were just way too much this time. Besides, I'd just do the same thing Drew's doing in your AV anyway. :P

I can even explain why few of those are actual excuses:

OK lets see,,,,
Too expensive
,,,,, last I checked the price was the same before and after WET cancelled!
my friend,,,
well that changed a bit after she backed out, so I give her that one,,,
I have EM in July,,,
she had EM in July when she originally bought tickets for MRF ....
Me and Chicago are pretty much opposite end of two countries,,,,
again, chicago didnt move away any further when Soto canceled,,, plus, if she could get to SouthBend I guess Chicago should be even easier,,,,

TERRY BROCK -- WOW!!! Incredibly talented dude, and seeing him play with Valentine made me a believer in that combo! I don't think I heard a single song I didn't like, but of course my two faves were the Strangeways tunes off of Walk In The Fire... he said the first one "Where Are They Now" had never been played live before, and the other, "Love Lies Dying" hadn't been played in the U.S. I got almost all of the 1st and every bit of the 2nd song on vid, and it looks like they came out great! I'll upload them to YouTube when I get back. Anyway, this weekend wouldn't have been complete without this guy!

Maybe not in the US, but I can guarantee you that Where Are They Now has been played before. Brock played it live for his solo performance at The Gods (prior version of the current Firefest show) in 2001. There may have been something in that set that has never been played live before, but that one isn't it.

Thanks for the info. I went back and checked my tape and he didn't clarify that "Walk..." hadn't been performed in the U.S. before, but it sounds like that's what he meant. Definitely mentioned never in the U.S. during "Love Lies Dying".

Just uploaded the video and am working on the 2nd now (check the MRFest II video thread). Sucks but I accidentally started filming "Walk..." in portrait mode, and then goofed and stopped the video thinking it was still in pause mode. I thought about tacking the opening on with the rest but the video wouldn't match up and it would be missing a few seconds so I just left it off.

now, if he played Walk in the Fire, the song, that may very well be the first time live on that one... Was that played? Love to see his setlist.

Don Wishon wrote:Terry has performed "Love Lies Dying" on a couple of occasions in Dallas, but both of those were solo acoustic.

No, he didn't play the title track from "Walk". Great song though and we actually talked about it later because of the unique vocal melody during the verses. I think Terry plays constantly with different bands, and also has several other projects in the works including a new Strangeways album. I was just relaying what was said at the show for the sake of the story, and as busy as he is I wouldn't be surprised a bit if he just didn't remember playing them anywhere else. He's a great guy and his set was a real highlight.

Grrrr, quit pickin' on me.  Flights are up, and cash flow is down......I really have to pick and choose any travel I do. I just couldn't justify it this time, end of story.

And no I didn't, the 2 EM shows just came about last week.

LOL, what's funny though, is I was calling you my friend in that post .....I wasn't even thinking about my friend that cancelled there.

Wow, don't even know where to start, lol. MRF2 was just an amazing time. VIP night was pretty cool, loved Rock Sugar's acoustic set. Great to hear Goodbye Thrill songs live again too. 2nd night was awesome too, was cool to hear and become a new fan of Talon, great songs! Rock Sugar put on a great entertaining set too.

I think my absolute favorite of the whole weekend was DANGER DANGER! My first time to finally get to see them live after all this time, and I was just in amazement the whole time! Incredible band, and they put on one hell of a show! Ted Poley is a beyond incredible frontman, and you can just see how much he loves what he's doing while onstage. He smiles the whole time, and that smile is definitely contagious. I braved the front only that one time this weekend, and I think it was Dan, who was watching from upstairs, who said I had that smile on my face the whole time too, lol. I was up there with Rip and S2M, both huge DD fans like me, and even bluejeangirl braved the front there with us, lol. There's a pic somewhere of her and I with Ted Poley when he was down in the crowd singing, that was awesome. When I got to meet them (thanks to my friend Rip) it was Bruno Ravel who I told it was so cool to finally get to see them live, being a fan since I was a teenager, lol. He said "What took you so long?" and gave me a huge hug, lol! I think Rip got a pic of that, lol! Awesome time.

3rd night was really cool too, loved seeing 7th Heaven live, such an awesome and unique frontman. Such a treat to see Ted Poley live yet again, when he put on his set that night too, and I loved seeing him on drums too! Just and incredible musician! Did I mention how awesome Ted Poley is? LOL. Before he came out they played a parody song of Unholy by Kiss but with Ted Poley in place of Unholy, that was awesome, lol. Got to see TRIXTER live for the first time too, loved their set! I was hoping they'd play Road of a Thousand Dreams, always thought that would be great to hear live, but I loved hearing everything they did play!

My other huge favorite played last, and that was WINGER. They kick so much ass onstage! First time finally getting to see them live too (thanks Andrew for making all these firsts possible all in one weekend, lol!), and I loved hearing some of my favs by them live like Easy Come, Easy Go; Down Incognito, Headed For A Heartbreak, Can't Get Enough, and then Miles Away and Madalaine were in the encore. Incredible set, they are pretty heavy live, awesome sound! I have seen in the past Kip solo, and saw Reb with Whitesnake, but seeing them together finally, topped those!

Loved to see all our awesome music friends again as always. Have to give a big thanks to my friend Rip. Thanks so much for contacting me each time you did for some sharing of your VIP access, lol! And for being a great photographer for each one I got to meet, and I was happy to take your pics for you too, lol! I don't want to be a scatterbrain and leave anyone out, but if I do, you can yell at me, lol. Had a blast with my best friend and travel partner Lynn as always! Shared lots of laughs with friends, and were still sharing laughs in the airport yesterday waiting to go home, lol. Great to see Rhi and bluejeangirl again, thanks so much Kim for the yummy treat Thursday night! Got to meet StocktontoMalone, and he rocks! Definitely my music fan twin for life now, lol! And Behshad! So great to see you again and meet Angelina, and laugh at your 100% unique humor! I'm still laughing at you greeting people in front of the bathrooms in the casino with "Good evening, good evening" and informing complete strangers passing by who was in each bathroom pooping  . Got to meet MG and DshinMich, so nice and SO funny! MG's laugh is contagious! Her laugh would make me laugh, even when I didn't know what she was laughing about, and if we were sharing a laugh, I'd laugh even more when she'd laugh, LOL! Dan, Gayle, Debbie, Linda, Sue, Heather, always awesome to see all of you!

I bought so many cd's and have been listening to so much great music. Such a fun weekend. Hope there can be an MRF3 sometime in the future 8)

Hey, you're welcome. The weekend was wayyyyyyyy too much fun. It was just unbelievable, and I'm still pinching myself. You know what's funny, I ended up getting 22 different CD booklets signed very beautifully (and this doesn't count 8x10s, posters, etc.). So when I was packing I decided to keep them separate and in my man bag to take on the flight. When the shuttle was about to drop me off at the airport, I realized that I'd not only left my man bag in the rental I'd just returned, but also left my Danger Danger REVOLVE CD in the changer. Hell to the NO, baby! The shuttle driver laughed when I told him about it, drove my butt all the way back and I retrieved my loot, and it was all was good from there.

Paging Val ...

Can we get a picture of the guitar you won with all the signatures on it? That's definitely a major score; when/where would all these bands ever be together again and take the time to jointly sign something?

I agree, Ted was everywhere all three nights, signing anything you wanted, talking to anyone, taking pictures you name it. Very nice guy. That D2 set was killer. They could of played every song on Revolve is far as I concerned, album just kicks ass. Hearts on the Highway live was a highlight for me, love that song.

Good point, and if they ever did, we'd need to send CrazyDeb in to make sure it got signed. BTW I have an excellent shot I took of Kevin Chalfant signing it.
