Oh, I would think somebody propping up one show above all others at the expense of dragging down others shows should be obligated to 'give a shit' about the genre they are talking about.

I've never watched Corkwood or Whorehouse 13, and I never will.

So? Great Christmas ep just aired of WH13, if you're interested. LOL

And you still forgot Lex'x

LOL....no I didn't. I have all of those shows on the computer, too. I loved that show when it was on. In fact, I still think Sliders/Farscape/Lexx was the best Friday night lineup that SciFi ever had, and that Syfy will never will match it.

AND you never even turned the cover of a single copy of Starlog?

Nope. No need to. And, I never subscribed to Jouiney Force either. Care to test my Journey knowledge while we're at it?

I'm in it for the entertainment, not the fanboy bullshit.

That right there makes me wonder if you're a twenty year-old who loves to bitch and moan. For a guy who said he's not getting into a pissing match, you've got everybody fooled.

Well, not in the one comment that was directed at somebody else. But, hey, if you want to test your Google knowledge, go ahead. It reminds me of some Perryhead trying to best me with their "Perry is God" attitude...but doesn't know enough about Journey to back up their ego.

I didn't use Google once during this entire thread, nimrod. I cited IMDb for air dates. And I said that up front. You do a good impression of a CD that skips.

I'm using "Google" as a generalization for looking up factoids on the internet so you can look like you know what you're talking about...but, time after time, you've shown to me that you don't know much past BSG, and a bit about SW and ST.

I think it's funny you analogizing this to....Journey.

Why not? It's just something else that I know enough about that I can spot someone winging it from only a few posts...and it's something that most people here can relate to.

Nice avatar, dude. For the record, Journey stopped being relevant to me in the '80s. That's not how I ended up here in the first place. You're one of those putzes who calls Steve Perry "The Voice," no doubt.

wow, you are REALLY showing your ignorance now! That is the funniest thing I have read on this forum in a VERY long time! Too funny!

And you're anal.

That's OK...most just call me an asshole.

You're no doubt one of those geeks that watches every fucking show out there that could be marginally categorized as SF. A lot of JUNK in there, the kind of stuff I'd see one episode of and go "Not for me!"

Nope...wrong again. Rosswell, Earth 2, and such, I've never watched. But, I'm not so ignorant of the genre that I don't know what they are.

You know the famous SNL skit with Shatner at the Trek convention? Guys like YOU inspired that bit.

LOL...wrong yet again. I have never had any desire to go a convention of any type, especially an ST convention. The only con I would think about going to would be Farscape...to tell the cast and creators 'thank you' for creating such a fantastic and well written series. And, it would be cool to shake the hands of Ben Browder, Claudia Black, Rockne O'Bannon, and Jim Henson. But, I would go as me, not some Vulcan with pointed ears asking dumb-ass questions about the series.

Monker wrote:I have all of the Sliders eps on my computer

NO further comment.[/quote]

Hey, I also own the original BSG mini-series/movie...and a dubbed DVR'd DVD of the remake...LOL.

I was expecting it to be syrupy, badly acted and campy but they hit a winner. Even my husband who reluctantly at first watched the reruns the night after they aired with me, said it was surprisingly good! They did a wonderful job on costumes, special effects, and the actors were quite believable. Sci Fi usually has crappy shows they put on. I was impressed.

Yep...I agree. There were some bits that were obviously cut (How Peter was saved from the spider is one) and the story seemed to just jump ahead. But, I thought it was well done and I'll probably watch it again at some point.

Honestly it shocked me, I truly thought if they made it, the whole thing would be cheezy. The one thing I did not like was the 6 legged crock. It looked too fake.

Yep...that too. Crocodiles don't need six legs to be scary! It just makes them look goofy.

The other mini-series/movie that they did a good job with was Dune and "Children of Dune"....but, I don't think those were actually "Scifi productions". They were still awesome though.

I liked Dune. I haven't seen Children of Dune but I will check them out. I love special effects, hate bad plots, and adore stuff that can keep me on the edge of my seat.

Do you like the Walking Dead series? I find most Zombie movies comical but that one actually made me scream one night.  And my husband laughed his butt off.

I watch scary films all the time and never scream. But when that zombie lunged out at the guy when he was hanging precariously out of a high window......I wasn't expecting it and screamed out loud! I think that show is one of the few that I faithfully watch now.

I actually watched the old Dr. Who shows. The sets were cheezy, some of the dialog too, but I have to admit I loved Tom Baker. Him and his jelly babies.  Not a great show, but a curious plot. My kids started watching the more modern versions and are hooked. The new guy is not as funny as Tom Baker was. Looking back they were cheezy. But at the time I liked them. A PBS show to watch when nothing else was on. Now to compare them to modern and better shows? No question, they were low budget. But for a kid they were fun.

I am no SCI FY buff, but I do like great fantasy and creative works. I would take any good suggestions to watch.

Only wished I had connections to create costumes for some of the best shows out there. I don't know anything about latex. I could draw a creature, but not make them.

I don't even know (or care) what "Jouiney Force" is. Sounds lame. I'd rather you invest in a dictionary than flex your inner Johnny Mnemonic about how many pairs of briefs Ross Valory owns.

He's convinced himself I'd never heard of some of the garbage he likes till yesterday, so he feels the need to niggle. Like, everything. Every word.

Funny, he can't seem to get past my full frontal-cutdown-assault, though. :)

Oh, I'm certain most persons here broadcast "amplified" versions of themselves. It's just amusing to see somebody read so far into something, that they think they're so on-the-money with their remarks — yet something remains overlooked. :)

Exactly to the point -- So is Starlog.

Speaking of ego, do you rent an airplane hangar in which to park yours?

Oh, come on. If there's anything more important then my ego here, I want it caught and shot now.

Nope...ignorant of the fact that I went on a string of posts in the Perry forum on why Steve Perry is NOT "The Voice"...and that I have been generally branded as a "Perry hater" for 20yrs or so.

Like I said - ignorant....and absolutely hilarious that I'd be accused of such a thing.

Nope. I'd rather watch the show. Even your half-assed attempt at a humorous insult leaves me rolling my eyes as being totally lame. If you want to have wet dreams about going to some con and meeting some BSG babe, that's your priority. I'll just look at it all for what it is, entertainment, or lack of.

Must've happened during a time when I wasn't checking this place. I'm not a regular like "you people."

Wait, is there a separate Perry forum? If there is, I know I deliberately avoided it.

Aw, don't be butthurt. It's indeed lame...because I toned it way down. The real zinger I originally had in the silo — that was a zinger. :)

if you liked Dune, you'll like "Children of Dune". I actually like it more. They did a very good job of telling the story.

Do you like the Walking Dead series?

Never watched it. I know a lot of people like it, and so do critics. But, the premise just didn't appeal to me much.

The thing with Dr. Who is it survived on good stories and characters....and NOT special effect. It's that way with many of the old scifi shows, if you think about it. "Lost In Space" the old Star Trek, and BSG. They HAD to have a good story and characters because the CGI wasn't there to save the show! The new Dr. Who has the budget...but it would still die if the stories sucked. I am getting tired of the "young" Dr. with a "younger" girl who has a "special" relationship with him. I would kind of like to see a Dr. more in the old style who doesn't come off as a dashing love interest for teen girls. But, I think it's become part of the 'new' appeal and just won't change.

I am no SCI FY buff, but I do like great fantasy and creative works. I would take any good suggestions to watch.

I lean so much further into scifi then fantasy and horror. The "Merlin" series that was on was OK. There was an old Robin Hood series from the 80's called "Robin of Sherwood" which I really liked...I bought the DVD's as soon as I knew they were released. They are a bit dated now, but probably worth looking to rent. The newer Robin Hood series from BBC is OK...a bit too campy and going for humor for me tho. There was a "Jekyll and Hyde" series from BBC called "Jekyll" a few years ago that was REALLY good...a bit violent, but very well written. But, seriously, if you like this kind of stuff, rent Torchwood, "Children of Earth", just awesome. I also liked the movie "Stardust" from a few years ago in a kind of "Princess Bride" sorta way. Something more 'male', I'd say "Chronicles of Riddick".

And, if you haven't seen BBC's "Sherlock", why not? Not really scifi/fantasy....but a really good show.

Missed the new Pan, but I believe it was a Robert Halmi production. His stuff is pretty much the gold standard as far as TV miniseries go. Speaking of which, anyone set their DVR for Stephen King's Bag of Bones this Sunday starring Pierce Brosnan on A&E?

I have the book and I will personally be watching. The story is very graphic in the book, I wonder if they will go that far in the show.

Monker, thanks for letting me know about the Dune sequel, I will have to check it out.

As for the Dr Who series, I liked them very much. They really were ahead of their time considering their budget for the show. Still love the phone booth time machine. Those things I am sure will be obsolete these days with cell phones and all.

I am not into horror as much as being frightened in a movie. Horror to me makes me think of blood fests, I am personally not into those, they have little to no plots. I like a great plot. Stephen King's more modern work gets me. Storm of the Century, Kingdom Hospital, Rose Red........these kind of scary movies.

I love almost all movies like the Lord of the Rings, I am dying to see the new Hobbit, I love things that have great fantastical scenes.

I liked the special effects of Avatar but found the plot too much like Fern Gully. Sad they can make a movie with such great new effects but little substance in the plot. Something new would have been fresher.
