Favourite track - 'Light up the Sky'.

I've been listening to a lot of old VH recently.....we got one of those walking machines and i try to do 30 mins every second or third day....most of those VH albums are 30 mins so they are my timer.

Most of the week I have been listening to Kelly Clarkson's Breakaway, though Lee Aaron's Metal Queen and Fight's War Of Words have made it to my ears as well.

Not working... Call me naive, prejudiced and a snob, but this Kelly Clarkson is a prime example of how being succesful has nothing to do with music, and everything with marketing, and she should be disregarded just as a matter of principle.

You can go on and even say that Kiss are commercial as hell or that Iron Maiden milk their back catalogue to the last drop, but somehow that is still music I can connect to, because there is a passion in it, that I find lacking in the works of the flavour-of-the-week-starlets.

BTW My AOTW is Cornerstone - In Concert. Excellent sounding live album... and their new studio album is already in the works. Great band.

Something tells me we've had this discussion before... This kinda takes away a lot of the arguments I usually have. Be glad, I use headphones most of the time

Really? We have? Anyway, I'm very touchy about this, so I just had to say something about your choice, and figured I might as well anticipate your rebuttal!

But believe me, I am very grateful about the headphone!

I'm gonna post my AOTW a day early, because I couldn't even leave my cd collection buried for good until I could get one last spin of a truly great album.

And that goes to Harem Scarem "Weight of the World." I don't know which is more baffling, the fact that this album never made it big, or that there are actually people who don't like this album.

Give me 10 million dollars to promote one album from the last ten years of newer melodic rock to get the genre back on the map. I would choose this one. I feel no other album from the last 10 years would even remotely have a shot of selling well on the major-label market.

...Of course, I'm basing it strictly on melodic rock, and not other genres. Otherwise, add Masterplan or Within Temptation to the works as well.

Last sunday I went to see Mostly Autumn, and bought a few CDs/DVDs there. That's the only thing I've heard ,apart from the radio on the constructions site in the street.

So I'll go with The V-Shows (The CD version)

With 40 hours of work staring me in the face, I decided to post my AOTW a day early.

And that goes to Circle II Circle "The Middle of Nowhere." It was basically what I expected from Zak and co. Multiple Savatage-isms, a couple of Metallica-isms, and a couple of standout tracks. In comparison to both albums, I think "Watching In Silence" has the more superior standout tracks, but "The Middle of Nowhere" is a more solid album as a whole.

It might squeak in as a top 5 album, since the 2005 field is rather thin.

I'll go along with that choice. Fascinating album, especially because I don't like death metal vocals, and yet I have been playing this album over and over this week.

Bobbi, not even a picture of the cover again, considering your choice this week?

Although there's still a second album's worth of demos to be released, I'm wondering if maybe Gregg Fulkerson was better off releasing a 'best of demos' rather than everything that was available? MB&D has its moments, but it's also got a lot of average songs, and very little that could compete with the debut.

My albums of the week have been for three weeks in the row both Pride of Lions records. Thanks for Serendipity for extremely good hint. Can´t believe how I have missed these masterpieces this far.

Yeah, I´ve noticed. Absolutely essential purchase. Jim´s comments about the show was very enthusiastic so I´m sure its worth of every cent. Didnt you have opportunity to visit that festival? Was it that there was nothing else to check out (Jim mentioned something about techno dance so it must have been quite diverse festival)? I´m asking this because I assume that distances between Holland and Belgium cant be that tremendous.

My AOTW goes to Rainbow "Bent Out of Shape." It's been years since I've listened to it, but that's what was playing on my bro's stereo this morning. I nearly forgot just how good it was.

Yeah, I did have the opportunity, but still didn't go. It was the three hour drive that kind of put me off. They were the only band that day I was interested in. I should have gone though, would have loved to see them play in the bar later that evening.

I quite like Sonic Firestorm. The singer reminds me of the singer from Pavlov's Dog. Wonder if they're related.
