I say they'd probably wait it out to see how he feels and by like, Week 10, put him permanently on IR. With neck problems, it's good to sit it out, especially fresh off of many surgical procedures. Indy is shit without him. 7-9 team without Manning at best.

Not really "Breaking News" to some of us. Look at the first post on the top of page 5 on this thread. I said weeks ago that the Colts knew something that they weren't sharing with the public. Otherwise, Kerry Collins never agrees to come out of retirement!

I'd be very surprised if Manning sees any playing time at all this year. I wouldn't screw around with the neck if I was him.

Damn what an exciting game! I can't take my eyes off of the screen. Just taking it all in. The NFL never dissapointed with these Thursday Night games to open the night. Spectacular game. That Green Bay offense is somethin, almost the second damn coming of the 1999/2000 Rams "fastest show on turf" offense. Rodgers is in mid-season form. The QB to lead the QB-class into the next decade. A true STUD.

Drew Brees had one helluva game as well. Watching the best of the best out there under center. I don't know what New Orleans was doing on that last play though. Green Bay was playing all-out run-blitz the whole way. Surprised Brees didn't audible out of that shit. What a way to kick off the 2011 season.

Great game.Brees and Rodgers are definitely the best QB's in the game today after Brady/Manning.The way Rodgers and the Packers looked tonight they just might repeat.Unstoppable

Manning may never come back and Brady is so last decade. Rodgers doesn't have to take a back seat to anyone.

I'm NOT a fan of the 35-yard spot on kickoffs. What's the point if 80% of the kicks end with a touchback?

Or even better, why aren't the kickers booting higher kicks with longer hang-times in an attempt to force the kick returner to fair-catch and give the opposition a worse field position?

As I've watched last night, no kicker is gonna return a kick from deep within their own end zone unless they're 100% sure they can go all the way.

Brady is still a top quarterback and I have no problem with his winning the MVP last year even if the Pats didn't get to the Superbowl. I'm just saying that it's time for some new blood. Rodgers will do nicely.

The kickoff rule is absolutely pathetic. When you think of the Super Bowl, you think of the kickoff. The lights. Setting the tone. We won't have that anymore. Upright bullshit. Thanks Goodell, you taint.

Also, I think I saw the stat last night for Green Bay. All year last season, they only had 2 touchbacks. Last night (at the time, probably more if you look it up) it was at a whopping 8.

And somehow. Somewhere. A Baltimore Raven poops his pants. Troy Polamalu to retire a Steeler. Now, next season is Wallace and we are LOCKED and LOADED for several years.

Missed block last year. Reed is better and Troy said as much.

* And, Troy, who’s better, you or Ed Reed?

“I’ve always considered Ed Reed to be the best safety in the NFL, perhaps ever,” Polamalu said. “So we can clear that up.”

I predict the Steelers win tomorrow though. Ravens are going to be good but the O-line needs to gel, and I don't see that fat load McKinney handling the Steelers speed rushers. We'll see.

With Adrian Peterson due to make $10.7 million in 2011 and, if subject to the franchise tag, $12.84 million in 2012, Peterson truly was in the driver’s seat. And he has now traded in the car for a deal that will pay him a whopping $40 million in the first three years.

In contrast, Titans running back Chris Johnson will receive $31 million over the next three seasons. Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams will be paid $30 million in that same period of time.

The seven-year deal (technically, six-year extension) will pay $52 million over four years and $65 million over five years. Johnson will get $39 million and $47 million, respectively, over that same period of time.

Troy is the most humble human being not named Arnel Pineda, haha. He already said his little nephew is better than him and he's only in high school. Troy's right. Reed is a better safety than Polamalu by the book but Troy got Reed in intangibles and how he's used, especially the way he freelances and uses that freelance as a value to the defensive scheme.

Better safety: Reed. Better overall football player: Polamalu. Both are deserving for #1. Great debate between the two.

As for the game tomorrow, Baltimore got people in multiple positions this season on both offense and defense, let alone their offensive lineman not playing one snap together. Flacco was harassed all pre-season. The Steelers return all their starters from their Super Bowl season and are in much more better shape with continuity. I feel this year Pittsburgh's offense explodes, so much speed it's ridiculous. I like Pittsburgh by 2 TD's, 24-10.

"I hate going to Baltimore, I hate playing there, and I hate playing them in general just because they are good," Roethlisberger told the Steelers' official website. "That's not a knock on them; it's giving them a lot of credit because they are such a good football team. ... This is almost like its own season when we play those guys."

Joe Flacco, who's been under center for six of those losses, has thrown five TDs, seven interceptions and had a 59.2 QB rating.

It's those two in January, though, that have stuck with Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs, one of the more active participants of trash talk in a series full of them.

"They spoiled our Super Bowl dreams for two out of three years," Suggs said. "We have to switch that, you know? ... I'm tired of having a sick feeling in my stomach for a whole year. Game one. Let's go."

"He may not be (Tom) Brady or all those other guys, but when I see him in the huddle I know we've got a chance to win," said Steelers receiver Hines Ward, who added the Ravens would be "ticked about this (loss) for a long time."

"He's a proven winner. And history shows he's a proven winner against Baltimore."

Roethlisberger has thrown 12 touchdown passes and just three interceptions -- posting a 93.9 passer rating -- during his personal seven-game winning streak against the Ravens, twice helping Pittsburgh knock them out of the playoffs since 2008.

I have it a little closer, at 27-17. Emotion though and it being the home opener could sway it the opposite direction. As I told my friends here, the Ravens have to prove it to me first on my end. Root for my team, but my prediction is based without emotion.

I think everyone's in for a treat. Both of these offense's are ready to open up against each other. Pittsburgh is just more solid. I don't think it'll be the defensive struggle we're so use to seeing. Shots downfield will be made. Going to be thrilling as usual. Best rivalry in football, bar-none.

Week 1 predictions:

Pit @ Balt: Steelers own the Ravens, with an overall record between both franchise's of 21-12. Roethlisberger is 8-2 against Baltimore, and with the Steelers holding major continuity over a very mis-placed Baltimore team at the moment, I look for the Steelers to breakout offensively. Tomlin hasn't lost a season opener yet. Pittsburgh by 14.

Atl @ Chi: Chicago kind of surprised last season with a breakout year, being one of the NFC teams with the best records. I still feel Cutler is a liability and the Bears own one of the worst offensive lines in all of football with a QB that makes bone-head mistakes to begin with. Atlanta has a very nice team overall and is my pick to go to the Super Bowl. I think they start off very hot against an over-achieved teamed in Chicago. Atlanta by 10.

Cinci @ Clev: Cleveland is an x-factor this season and showed glimpses of taking down big boys last season with young Colt McCoy (New England, New Orleans, etc.) Cinci is possibly the worst team in sports and are in complete rebuild mode without Carson Palmer, Chad Johnson and Owens. Chris Benson is their only hope. Cleveland can score major points with McCoy learning from Favre. Cleveland by 16.

Indy @ Houston: Now you'll see what Peyton Manning means to a football team. Colts fans are going to find out very quick what life is going to be like without the big man under center. The Colts will play it as conservative as possible, not good with Houston breathing down their neck all these years. Houston needs to destroy in this one. Houston by 20.

Tenn @ Jax: Ummmmmmmmm, I uhhhhhhhhh. Who cares. Chris Johnson runs for 3,000 yards. Titans by 9.

Buff @ KC: Had trouble picking this one. Buff could be one of those surprising teams. They played toe to toe all last season, and led in most games before blowing it in the final qrts. Not a push-over team. Kind of like Cleveland to where they could score points, but playing at KC, one of the hardest places to play works against them. KC by 7.

Philly @ StL: Philly better watch. StL has all the tools for major upset. If the Eagles are who they say they are or think they are, they take care of business. Philly by 13.

Det @ Tampa: I love what the Lions are doing, esp defensively. When all you think about is Suh and a monstrous and mean d-line, people forget Stafford is healthy and has the big man, Calvin Johnson to have fun with. Tough game to pick since I love Freeman but I think Detroit push's for a WC this season. Detroit by 6.

Car @ Ari: Can't wait to see that smile be wiped right off of Cam Newtons arrogant face. Kolb, meet Larry. Larry, meet Kevin. Arizona by 17.

Min @ SD: Everyone is forgetting about Donavan McNabb. I always thought McNabb was a great leader and somebody who could excel with a team around him. Adrian Peterson anyone? Well, Phillip Rivers is ready to breakout. Norv Turner can't start slow this season. Pressure is on for the powder blue. S.D by 10.

Sea @ San Fran: uhhhhhhhh, I uhhhhhhh. Seattle by 7.

NYG @ Wash: Intriguing. Grossman gets the start for the Skins and looked very well in pre-season. That defense seems to be more violent as well with the blitz so that could cause problems. Eli is without Steve Smith but again, Coughlin is on the hot seat and any team with Rex fucking Gross as their leader is pretty alarming. Giants by 13.

Dal @ NYJ: Ryan VS Ryan. With Romo healthy, this gives him time to come under the radar. Maybe Garrett can get Dallas to play well when noone is talking about them. They played well last season under new management and the Jets big mouths can come back to hurt them. I like Dallas in the upset. Dallas by 3.

NE @ MIA- Brady always struggles with Miami's defense atleast once a season but, N.E is poised to beatdown anybody in their path. NE by 20.

OAK @ DEN- I dig Kyle Orton's game. OAK is under a new regime yet again so I'll take Den to avenge last seasons beatdown. Den by 10.

Pit @ Balt: Two very evenly matched teams. Baltimore is getting to become an ancient team, but I still don't see the Ravens losing both games to the Steelers this season, so I'm taking the Ravens at home by 3.

Atl @ Chi: Matt Ryan, Roddy White and Michael Turner are more than the Bears can handle. Atlanta by 14.

Cinci @ Clev: This could get ugly, as the Bengals continue their wayward ways. Cleveland by 14.

Indy @ Houston: The Colts will get tired of hearing that Manning is their entire team and because of that will probably play a bit harder than some think. That said, I think this is a mismatch and Houston wins it by two touchdowns.

Tenn @ Jax: No QB for Jacksonville means not a whole lot of wins. Titans by 14.

Buff @ KC: I expect the Chiefs to actually take a step back this season, but not so fast. KC by 4.

Philly @ StL: The Eagles are the best team in the NFL, according to many (I'm not one of the many). While Bradford and the Rams will probably improve this season, it won't be against the Eagles. Eagles by 17.

Det @ Tampa: Freeman looks to be the real deal, but Detroit is a team I love on defense. With Suh, they may have the best defensive line in football, and I would be stunned if they don't make a really strong push for a wild card bid this season. Detroit by 10.

Car @ Ari: Carolina blows! Arizona by 20.

Min @ SD: Still not sold on Peterson, but now that he's the highest paid RB in the history of the NFL, he better learn how to hold onto the football. I think Rivers and the Chargers are the better team and win by 10.

Sea @ San Fran: Another "Who Cares Bowl" for me. I think these teams are actually evenly matched. That said, I think the Niners are a bit more talented and with the home field, win by a TD.

NYG @ Wash: The Redskins are a fucking disaster of a team. The Giants probably aren't much better. I'll take the Giants by 10.

Dal @ NYJ: Another season of Bigmouth, Blowhard Rex. God, help me. The Cowboys MUST win some games this season. They have quickly become a "has been" franchise, and lose more games every season than any other team in the NFL, with the talent they have. It's actually embarrassing! Cowboys by a TD in this one.

NE @ MIA- Miami actually has a VERY underrated defense. They have some guys who can play and have a very solid secondary. That said, Henne sucks, and their offense will struggle against most teams this season. Patriots by 14.

OAK @ DEN- Two woefully mediocre franchises. This game is a coin flip for me, but I'll take the Broncos by a TD.

NFL.com news: Steelers lock up safety Polamalu with new four-year contract

Missed block last year. Reed is better and Troy said as much.

* And, Troy, who’s better, you or Ed Reed?

“I’ve always considered Ed Reed to be the best safety in the NFL, perhaps ever,” Polamalu said. “So we can clear that up.”

I predict the Steelers win tomorrow though. Ravens are going to be good but the O-line needs to gel, and I don't see that fat load McKinney handling the Steelers speed rushers. We'll see.

Nothing better than seeing Shitsburgh get punched right in their constantly flapping mouths! Apparently, someone forgot to tell the Steelers the season started today. The Rapist looks awful and even Troy looks lost out there!
