American Idol 2010

General Intelligent Discussion & One Thread About That Buttknuckle

I liked Adam Lambert's song much more in the beginning - had a haunting quality that he does so well. Wasn't keen on all the over-the-top light show stuff. He did seem to give good advice & tell it like it is to the contestants.

I'm glad to see Katie go...she never seemed to find her niche. Andrew - I really like his voice, unique & distinct, but he never found the right songs (last night's 2nd try was very good 'tho). I always enjoy Casey - he's such a doll, but he has talent, too. Tim Urban? I couldn't believe he wasn't voted off long ago, but I must admit that he really did a good job the other night & like Simon said, "you went from zero to hero". I don't think he is the best to win, but he must be getting the tween fans to vote.

Adam rumors

Postby squirt1 » Thu Apr 22, 2010 1:44 pm

Adam has tour dates posted on Adam Official.com. Now,the rumor is that AI is after him to replace Simon after the producers thought his mentor week was really spot on. Since their ratings have been down against DWTS,I wonder how many $$$$$$(millions) they will throw at him and I'll bet he keeps his tour dates. The rumors were covered by the National Enquirer, who said their source was from AI and MTV which is following the story.

That's for sure, he's got tremendous range too. One thing the guy's not is boring, always an entertaining performance from him. I really like this kinda raw, sensual, accoustic version of Led Zep's Whole Lotta Love...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXOqy9L1keI

SPOILER alert (if some haven't seen yet)

I was kind of sorry to see Tim go home tonight, he was kinda starting to grow on me. Not that he had a chance of winning, but I liked his attitude. I'm getting really tired of Siobhan, and Michael to some degree - too dramatic for my liking. Although Casey didn't have a good week, he's still my fav - great combination of good looks, good voice, great musician. It was kind of surprising to see him in the bottom 3. I honestly don't care who wins - I know whose records I'll buy (Casey, Crystal, probably Lee).

I like that you gave a warning before giving away who went home :) Well everyone will go home sooner or later anyway and Tim was much later than I would have liked  since you know I was never a fan. You're right though, it really doesn't matter who wins - it's all about when your favorites will release their first CD!

Agreed! He did an awesome job. I actually think all of them did great though. I have to say though, that my least favorites where Siabon (Or however you spell here retarded-assed name), and Crystal. Crystal sounded just okay tonight. She normally kicks ass, so I guess she's entitled to an off-night.

Yeah, I don't think it was that she was 'off' so much - it just wasn't her best. I'd be happy to see Siobhan go - not sure why the judges praised her so much, I had the feeling Shania wasn't too thrilled with it. But the rest of them were really good. Casey reminds me of a young Freddy Curci - not the voice but the looks/hair a little bit and definitely some of his mannerisms. He does this thing with his mouth between phrases (kind of purses his lips or something like that), that Freddy always did. (Yeah, I know a guy probably wouldn't notice that  ). That's one of the reasons I like him so much .

Crystal was effed no matter what song she picked. She's still the best singer. Not sure if she'll win.

So from the intros it doesn't sound like Shania is performing on the results show tonight :x - too bad.

See - SP could be a mentor and not be expected to sing

well, you make a good point. If she didn't perform, then there is a good chance Steve would be a mentor this season. I'm sure Randy would love having him on, and Steve loves helping out talented young talent.

OMFG tonight is sucking bad, I had to turn it off. Some loser named Harry Connick has them singing some Frank Sinatra bullshit. Lame!

I can't watch this shit anymore. The big black guy is a good singer, but the rest are karaoke singers. Siobhan Magnus should have won based on vocal talent.

Actually, Harry is a great singer, musician, & actor. The producers of AI thought this would help their ratings. Between the judges and the producers, it is like watching the Titanic about a mile from the iceburg. I hear ya ! Lee handled it but it so different from Casey's, and Crystal's style that someone running the show into the ground must be wearing a tin foil hat, so nab him.

AI does the Sinatra-theme every season in an effort for the contestants to cross all genres. The problem is that this season there are no 'crooner-types' like there has been in years past. I agree this tends to be a sleeper show, for I much prefer to hear some good ol' classic rock. I was not happy to see Siobhan go home because she was vocally talented and unpredictable adding something different to the group each week.

It was definitely real. I didn't like it either. :? I haven't liked anything they've put out in a LONG time. I wish they'd go retro and release another great "80's" sounding album.

Spoiler alert........

I REALLY didn't want to see Mike go tonight. He seems like a great dude, and I like the whole Luther Vandross thing he has going. I really didn't want to see ANY of them go, but now I'm anxious to see if it'll be Crystal or Lee. Any guesses? :D

Did you like Daughtry? Both of Daughtry's CD releases have delivered some very good tracks and are worth a listen

Since I (and half of America) have been so sure from top 12 that Crystal would get the crown, Lee will actually win  Hope that logic makes sense to you...poor Mike, being in the bottom every week since he got saved, getting booted tonight is no surprise. Though vocally, Casey has been the weakest and should have gone - I thought his Mrs. Robinson version was a bore last night.

I picked the top 3,but the top 10 will have all kind of chances down the road. AI is only free promotion/exposure to the industry. After their Idol tour they will be free to work with real music people. If those in the music business think they can make $$$ they will sign them.
