Does this mean we are going to see the Hawaiian Tiger Shark go into a forum feeding frenzy?   Here, I'll hold your surfboard!

Seriously Tommy, do you ever get any more than mildly miffed? You come across as the most laid back person on earth.
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

It's very commendable, not chicken. It takes a real man to step up to the plate like that and give up some things to do the right thing...to give that much love and care.

I keep telling you're too young to be old, so I'm going to assume you're talking about your parents. ;)

Growing old is life. Better than dying young, imo, regardless of the rigors of life. Gotta take the downhills along with the up to see the other side of the mountain on this roller coaster ride. There's too much beauty still left in the world to enjoy not to ride it to the end, though. You have this time with your folks to give them love and love is the most beautiful thing of all.

similar situation here.uncle already had one kidney transplant a few years back has appointments scattered throughout the week and pretty much nothing more they can do.sometimes have to go to his home at 4 in the morning.there was a stretch where i was going over there every night at 3 or 4 then having him at his appointments by 7 or 8 in the morning.while this was happening the things below were happening.....

father had a minor stroke sitting in my living room last winter.got up to leave and started acting drunk.he told me he took a nerve pill earlier in the day and let him go home but something told me to stop him at all cost from leaving my house.i made him irritated by making him go to a hospital where he spent a week and where they told him i saved his life by getting him there so he wasn't too mad after the fact.

a couple weeks after that his back went out and he spent the next few months in a wheelchair while i drove him all over the city to specialists and then he finally got surgery for that recently so he is doing better.

mom had a brain anuresym here at my house five minutes before five in the morning.i was just about to get off work doing night shift when i called my wife to be ready unlock the door and let me in when all the sudden i heard all kinds of noise.my wife informed me my mother had just walked in the living room holding her head and making weird sounds and saying her head was hurting badly.i raced home in time to see the ambulance jetting for the hospital.she spent months in there and they said it was a miracle she survived.she will never be the same but she is doing much better.

all this happened within a couple weeks time period.it almost killed me from lack of sleep and pressure on all fronts.hang in there tom i know its tough.there will be good days and bad days.

You live on Maui for crying out loud! You have it good! I live in Texas where the temps are starting to rise to over 100 degree days and no ocean in sight! So excuse me if I don't feel sorry for ya!  Seriously....I helped take care of my dad when he became invalid and wheelchair bound....in his 50's. I would love the chance to lift him from the chair to the car and take him to the park and push his chair around again. Would love to read to him again when he was in a coma. Would even love the chance to suction his tracheotomy tube again. Both of my parents have been gone for many years now. Appreciate the time you have with your folks because you'll miss them when they are gone.

You know, I learned something here... I actually went to look up the spelling of malarkey, because that didn't look right, but seriously, I've don't think I've ever seen that word in print before.

Who the hell says "malarkey"? What next? "Snookered"? "Humdinger"? "Bees knees"? :?:

Noticed that with my parents it seems in just the last few years too. Mind you now that dad has 2 new hips he's just raring to go and driving my mom nuts. Mom has been slowing down quite a bit the last couple years, quite a few health issues like one kidney, heart problems and bad arthritis. Big hugz Tommy, you're a stand up guy. :)
