"Warner is already in development on a sequel to "Man of Steel" and is expected to fast track that for release as soon as 2014, said knowledgeable people close to the studio," the WSJ reports. "In addition, it has long been developing a 'Justice League' team-up movie featuring characters such as the Flash and Wonder Woman that could come out as soon as 2015."

IMHO, put me in the camp to NOT fast-track MOS2 or JL. I think MOS set the foundation for the universe and clearly needs to fix some mistakes to give the sequel a thrilling package of great pacing and character development. MOS did a TON of things right, but improvement is necessary. I think they should take their time and give MOS2 a July 2015 release, development JL or Worlds Finest for a 2016 release.

Those are the movie's biggest haters. Over on CBR, some douche is literally shrieking for another TOTAL reboot, complete with red undies. He wants Superman smiling at the camera eye as he flies by, and catching women and spinning cars and muttering "For truth! Justice! And everything ghey!" (Okay, that last part was a joke.) Dude's a Silver Age purist to the bone(r).

MoS has generated so much discussion about that moment over there, it's astonishing. That guy, though...he has issues.

Oh yeah, I've been right in the heat of battle as soon as the spoiler hit the net. Sometimes, it can get seriously and mentally depressing hearing some of the ridiculousness that comes out of peoples mouths.

You can tell most are old-timer, nostalgic assholes who still jack-off to pictures of Margot Kidder and can't seem to jar loose from their childhood with Superman carrying the American Flag with his best Pal Jimmy Olsen riding his back everywhere snapping photographs of Lois fighting off Godzilla-like creatures for Superman to save her from.

I absolutely ADORE every evolution of the Superman character, but to refuse to like ANYTHING else other than the 10 cent comic book you read as an 8 year old child is seriously dampering the aspects of an iconic character.

Kurosawa has done the SAME thing on other forums as well, giving his usual bullshit of "My view of the character IS right, yours is WRONG" type mentality and it's fans like him as to why this character has suffered since the early 1990's in true development and creative goals moving forward.

Loved the dramatic exit as well but maybe, just maybe, Superman throwing a plastic "S" off of his chest to injure a villain (poor Non) ISN'T the true definition of the character

Many fanboys didn't like Batman Begins and Nolan's style right away. They at least gave it another chance and got hooked with The Dark Knight (or they liked Begins and not TDK). But I don't recall anyone posting they were in the throes of depression and that feeling "sick" over the whole deal was MADNESS.

"I have to leave, I can't take this anymore!" (After he literally spent dozens of pages' worth of posts telling everyone they're idiots for liking MoS.)

The 1978 movie is still a great movie. It's not like it suddenly no longer exists.

Did you buy the MoS 2CD special edition that comes in a tin over at Best Buy? It's $20. I was checking it out last night. A lot of music on there.

My bro was up Best Buy just last week and though the special edition wasn't available, he picked up the regular 2 Disc CD for me and not the collectors edition for just $11.00.

Disc 1 is 17 tracks of the score and disc 2 is 28 minutes of experiments from Hans Zimmer and includes his original sketchbook to go with it.

Yeah, it has a ton of tracks. Those tins go out of print and show up later for $40-50.

MOS picking back up in the BO and should have a very nice 4th of July weekend number as well. WOM is particually better than what people thought, holding its own in weekday sells and holding consistent on weekends, proving WOM is as good as can be. I was LOLing at Guapo's stuff about $500M not being much anymore when the movie cost $200-250M to make, but this flick's only been out a couple weeks. When this thing crosses $700-750M (figuring Japan in there somewhere), that's not going to be chicken feed. There will be a sequel.

Badass GIF, btw. Maybe Faora can escape from the PZ...nude. :D

I got a TON of badass gifs. The CGI and look to this overall film is going to look outstanding on Blu-Ray. On screen, there was so much CGI that it took away from the picture at times, so I can't wait to see it more condensed and smoothed in a Blu-Ray quality because even the gifs being worked on look amazing.

From what I read, it dropped another 50%. World War Z is proving to have strong legs at the box office. Superman is a domestic disappointment.

MOS put up a SOLID weekend number at $20.82 mil. I'm one of those who felt like we were getting 17 mill. I'm more than happy to admit I'm wrong with that solid number.

49% drop (normal drops are in high forties after second weekend) so MOS is impressively stabilizing in the thick of stiff competition and should reach $300 million or more domestically at the end of its run (a very good number.)

MOS has only been out for 17 days and broke the $500+ WW barrier ($520.4 mil) facing stiff competition within its June release in the States whilst losing screens in the process.

When the percentage drop is closer to 50% than 65% then perception changes. As well as future calculations. That's why the 65% drop was so damaging last week. This percentage drop is much better. It needs to stay around 50% range.

Man Of Steel 3D (Legendary/Warner Bros) Week 3 [Runs 4,131]
Friday $5.9M, Saturday $8.2M, Weekend $20.5M, Cume $248.3M

Look at that impressive +36% bounce from Friday to Saturday still indicating tremendous wannasee. But there’s stiff box office competition for Superman right now continuing into the Fourth Of July holiday

http://www.deadline.com/2013/06/first-b ... f-steel-5/

These numbers are as solid as you can get for a rebooted franchise, especially to an outdated, choir-boy character who nobody seemed to give a shit about so it's good to see Big Blue's franchise be resurrected. There were many problems with MOS, admittedly, but there were so many influences to get the monkey off Supe's back and the monkey is now lifted.

Now the anticipation release year for the sequel is expected to come soon (rumored 2015; Snyder/Goyer are already collaborating their sequel layout) and we'll see if they can fix the nooks and crannies, tighten up the mistakes and have a go at an amazingly put together sequel.

Though I would say, WWZ is probably the biggest surprise of the year. Zombies in 'Merica are as popular as ever and it's showing in that number.

FWIW, I did see WWZ (not on my dime) and it's a pretty good movie. I'd have preferred more gore (maybe the DVD will have the "R" cut) but it's a fast-paced, tightly-edited solid flick till the last act, which is slower but cool in a retro way. The third act reminded me of Lucio Fulci's movies (those are loaded with gore, though).

I saw it yesterday, and it's a damn good movie. My daughter didn't care for it, but she didn't grow up in the time of DC comics and when Superman was a child's hero. They sure picked the right guy for the role. Actually, I thought the casting was terrific, right down to Laurence Fishburn as Perry White.

I enjoyed getting to see the back story, and was really glad to see a real action packed drama, instead of the semi-cheesy way they did it with Christopher Reeve.

It's summer. Of course, there's big juggernaut competition. I'm just surprised how the film has no staying power - at all.

Years ago when the film announced its release date, many of us fans were shaking our head that WB seemingly screwed the pooch and always acts as if they constantly have their fingers stuck straight up their ass compared to Marvel, and this was one of them (IM3 virtually had ZERO competition for weeks upon weeks of its May release.)

With the June release in itself with wide-known competition slated (meaning showings being cut) if WB were to release MOS in say, July or later summer, they could have accumulated atleast $100 million+ added to the final totals.

Historically, a June release is sometimes suicide to such films and MOS is no exception, especially a rebooted character coming off a bad performance that left bad tastes in the peoples mouths just 7 years ago in Superman Returns (also a bad, June release date.)

Ironically, this year in the Hollywood BO has been a whirlwind for opening #1's and barely any #1's with competition that follows stayed at the top, including MOS.

Fortunately, MOS broke June BO records (proving folks and audiences still want to see and love the Superman character) for its opening and that in itself is an impressive feat to hang its hat on, let alone DRILLING OS numbers that were projected to be lower than they actually are.

Thing is, it's not going to stop from here on out with fierce competition with films like Despicable Me 2 ready to hit the market here in a few weeks.

It's relentless and MOS took a big drop in its second week number, but is impressingly stabilizing and still holding its ground while getting left-hooked by other big audiences and those genre's packing a punch.

Reports are that MOS's showings are still 80% full so there's staying power within its own fight to the finish.

Still, only 17 days it's been out and week by week, another big one comes rolling in.

When all said and done, MOS will pull in great numbers for the studio to be more than happy about and collect themselves for an even better sequel with the nooks and crannies of the films mistakes being fixed. The franchise is healthily resurrected.

Happy to see you enjoyed it, Rick 8) I agree, the casting is superb and a huge name for Lex could determine the success's of the sequel (Zack Snyder has already said the Lex Luthor casting will be on par with big names such as Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner, so let the guessing begin.)

WB estimates for today 52% drop is pretty typical for a Monday (last Sunday to Monday was a 63% drop.) Man of Steel is stabilizing. $3.04 million is better than I expected today ($2.75 mil is what I originally thought). Could have a 11-14 million week which would be good to go with a 12 million weekend. $270 million domestic after this weekend means $300 million domestic is on the table once the new competition comes pouring back in.

I want to watch it again, but if I had to rate it today, I would give it like a 7.5 to 8.

Yeah, if your curious to ever watch it again, it's a movie not to watch just once. The first time is just one big eye opening clutter that doesn't slow down for anyone. The second time was my favorite viewing. Everything slowed down to where I could actually focus on what was going on. I can watch it over and over with different feelings each time.
