Don't know if anyone else feels the same but I think Fish can barely hold a fucking tune.....

Never been a fan of his era of Marillion....and on ITEC he's probably = worst singer with Arjen.....Damien Wilson owns his ass.

On the basis of 'Extinct Instinct' I agree totally.....but then again, Fish is one of these guys who gets paid for being a singer....when he can't sing.

Kinda like Blaze Bayley.....or Robert Zimmerman.

Some people just have styles all their own. Fish stinks, but Bob? Bob is great!

You kidding me? I could listen to Fish all day long. There's a difference between being out-of-tune great, and out-of-tune bad. And singers such as Fish and Peter Gabriel (and I'll throw in Arjen for good measure) are out-of-tune great.

This week's AOTW goes to Blue Tears "Mad Bad & Dangerous." It's been awhile since I pulled out anything resembling 80's glam, and this compilation of unreleased tunes are almost classic. A few more keyboards and vocal harmonies would've made some of the songs as good as the debut.

'Out of tune great'? Yeah, ok.

Poets of the Fall's Carnival of Rust is my AOTW this week. I like it a lot, but it hasn't made the impact that Signs of Life did.

Symphony X - The Odyssey. It's been a while that I played it, while I really should have played it more often, because it still is getting better every time. Great songs, especially from song 4 and up.

Any concerts planned along with that deal, and reason for another celebration? ;)

I'm sure the US tour will be based on where they're getting the most US sales. When Nightwish did their tour, the furthest north they came was Worcester, MA. That's a 4 hour drive.

My AOTW goes to To-Mera "Transcendential," my [b]2006 Female Album of the Year.[/i]

Beginning of the year cd cleanout. Haven't been listening to much music. However, a friend let me borrow a japanese band called The Black Mages. Video game music is taken extremely seriously in Japan, and this band is a prime example of this. This is an all-instrumental metal group that uses themes from the Final Fantasy series to build songs around. The original Japanese composer gets credit for the original themes, and the musicians shred like mad! If you're unfamiliar with video game music, this is worth checking out even more so. You'd be surprised just how much metal has in common with those old midi bloops and beeps of the 80's style video games.

I've always had a soft spot for video game music, but this is the first time I've got to hear it in full-metal form. That is why The Black Mages get my AOTW.

Aghora-Formless

JB might like this.....if you like To-Mera. This is a bit heavier....not much.

Al Stewart - Time Passages. The main reason: Life In Dark Water... eerie and beautiful at the same time. Part of the credit goes to Alan Parsons' outstanding production.

Well all the pointless Eddie/VH bashing in the VH forum has of course made me listen to them more.....consequently my AOTW is ......1984 by the great Van Halen.

My AOTW goes to the first female album of 2007: Elis "Griefshire."

Rest in peace, Sabine Dunser.

Thanks for the greetings. I've been pretty good, I'd say. Lots going on the last year - too much to post all at once! Here's a bit-by-bit rant on 2006:

Been working as usual like everyone else...
Dropped two strings to bass in May...
Finished my BSBA degree in June...
Severely dislocated my left elbow in a softball game in July...
Started graduate school in October...
Moved to a house in a lakefront community in November...
Patiently awaiting the new Rush album in April 8)

That sums it up. Just thought I'd drop in a say hey. I'll be around.
