YOU are saying to only consider the 1800's and not the fact that starting in 1964 Republicans started ignoring black issues in order to win the south. That is just as truthful and historic as the other things in that list. THAT is why in today's world the Democrats get 90% of the black vote....it's not because "the blacks" are stoopid, or because of some liberal agenda. You are just blind and ignorant because of the propaganda you read.
It's not racist to discuss how poverty and unemployment rates among blacks is higher than Hispanics and Whites. The Democrats are the only party that talks (note - I said "talk" not actually DO anything) about these issues. Republicans say "work harder" or "cut taxes at the top to unleash the magical power of small businesses"...it's all bullshit that does not connect to struggling Americans in any real way.
The only person discussing racism is KC. He is obsessed with it for some reason. My point is that the Republican party turned their backs on "the blacks" from 1964 onward. Every topic that would benefit them they have been against. Everything from affirmative action to things like the NAACP, the United Negro College Fund, or even "Black Lives Matter".
You take something very simple like "Black Lives Matter". They interrupt Bernie and take over the mic during one of his rallies. Trump's response was that showed weakness and they should have been thrown off the stage, etc. Bernie's reaction was to let it go at that moment, and then later to meet with them and listen to what they had to say. And, Clinton has met with them, too. Has Trump? That is the difference. If you want the black vote, listen to what they have to say. It doesn't matter what old white people think of such things. If Republicans want "the black" vote, they have to listen to blacks.
There was a show on CNN about Presidential campaigns. One of them was Kennedy vs. Nixon. When Martin Luther King was jailed, JFK called and made himself available. NIxon, who was a frind of MLK, did nothing public. At that point in time, a Democrat politician going out of his way for a black person was unheard of. In fact, JFK's advisors went around RFK to get JFK to make the call, because they knew Bobby wouldn't agree to it....and he was furious when he found out...because they did not involve him, and he felt it ruined the campaign. Instead, it probably won JFK the election by turning votes away from Nixon and to Kennedy. "The blacks" voted for JFK because he made a public effort to help MLK, even if he really didn't do anything...and Nixon did nothing public, even though he was considered a friend, and probably put forth an effort to help behind the scenes.
That was the very start of "the blacks" turning almost exclusively Democrat. Democrats paid attention, made the personal contact and effort....Republicans didn't, and later wrote off the black vote in favor of old southern white people.
I am not calling anybody a racist in this argument...that is the easy way out.
