Some of the comments in this thread have me more afraid for the future of this country than any shtick I hear from Beck, Hannity, Savage, Stewert, Colbert, Matthews, etc.

It used to be tragedies like this brought the coutry and its people closer together. Those days are apparently long gone. And this prevailing attitude these days of thinking we know better about everything than those that came before us is getting to the point of ridiculousness. Certainly alot of false self pride and ego going around.

This is my take...however unfortunate this event was, and I'm not being insensitive here....I just don't want to focus on the actual sadness of it.....the kid had issues with the government, and how this country is being run. Granted, he went about it the absolute wrong way....but he had issues nonetheless. And I guess he figured this was his only outlet....Dude was jaded, and he realized his voice would never be heard otherwise....

I'm thinking unless this country straightens it's act out, and by country I mean washington....I'm sure more things like this will happen. Folks are just tired of not being listened to.....again, I'm not condoning what he did, just relaying that he had issues with the government.

Believe it or not I agree with you 100% on this.

I do think there is more here, like the databases ther government doesn't have all put together like it is supposed to by law that would have prevented this kid from getting a gun in the first place. That just points to governement not living up to its promises and obligations, which I suppose is the normal state of things these days.

Sorry but have you been watching the news or reading any of it about this guy? He is MENTALLY ILL. VERY mentally ill. And there were TONS of warnings to his illness also. Yet there was no intervention. All the disruptions he caused in his college classes, that involved police having to show up more than once, and how SCARED plenty of other students in those classes were. How weird his behaviors were, and things he would do at innappropriate times, and how many people pointed that out. He couldn't function normally in social situations. He would speak gibberish no one could understand. He showed paranoia. Other students were scared he'd bring a gun to class. One teacher didn't want to have his back to the class for fear of what this guy would do. He had FIVE instances of being involved with campus police for his actions. It's very obvious what happened is due to extreme mental illness, and people trying to make it out to be for political reasons only, like I've seen in the news, is ridiculous.
