It's a MUCH bigger deal then being attached to Creed...and everybody in this forum knows it. In fact, their argument of "Uh, well, BvS may be attached to TFA also..." makes a lot more sense then your droning on about trailers attached to movies being old school...that has nothing to do with what we were talking about.
When I wrote the
BvS trailer could be in front of
Creed (which I'm probably going to see this week), that's just me gushing over seeing new footage on the big screen (but that doesn't seem to be the case now). That wasn't the cue for you do the whole goosestep routine about
Civil War being attached to
TFA and how much more of a "big deal" that is. Like TNC implied, nearly all the people who will see the
Civil War trailer "in front of
TFA" have already watched it online.
The keyword there is "nearly" and you really have no clue how many have seen it online or not. And, that was my point when I said it was a different audience than those who go seeking out trailers online. And, as you implied, it is a completely different experience in watching it at home on a PC and watching it in a theater.
The bottom line is the trailers in front of TFA are going to be seen by tens of millions of people. That is a big deal, whether it is "old school" or not. It is a big deal whether people have already seen it, or not. From a marketing standpoint, any time you can put your product in front of that many people, it's a no-brainer that it will help sellit.
Disney knows what they are doing. They are going to have the top four biggest hits this year with Jurassic World and The Force Awakens, Age of Ultron and Inside Out. Not only that...but Jurassic World, TFA, and AOU are going to be among the biggest hits EVER.
It's foolish to argue that it's not a big deal to be attached before a such a huge selling movie. Civil War will benefit from it...and Dr. Strange will probably benefit from Civil War, and Rogue One. That's the way it works. You know this...one movie feeds off the popularity of another. It's a machine that WB/DC simply has not built.
As for the goose stepping, I was going to drop it after the point that BvS may be attached to TFA, too. It's a good point, and I don't know if it is attached or not. But, if you all are going to turn the argument into the trailers before the greatest selling movie of all time do not matter, then I'll argue that you are absolutely completely wrong.
