Goodbye Yellow Brick Road has arrived and I am playing it right now. It's superb!

A friend of ours visited last week, he saw the Madman CD lying about, and he recommended Goodbye Yellow Brick Road as well! He said this record was also on an episode of the Classic Albums DVDs. I love that series, but I must have missed that episode. Something I'm going to look into next!

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is an awesome album. I bought it back in 75 when I was 15. I still love it.

It's a bit sad when he tries to sing a section of one of those songs on the 'Classic Albums' episode and can't - he just doesn't have the range anymore, but the album certainly has some magic.

Funnily enough I have ordered 'Madman across the water' so we're kind of cross-recomending!

I'll second that. I like his singing in Leverage better though.

Leverage are so different to Brother Firetribe aren't they? I like both bands but I've listened to Brother Firetribe a lot more. Can't listen to them enough.
I'm really surprised that I'm not sick of them yet, been listening to them so much.

This weeks AOTW is Brother Firetribe - False Metal.

Yes they are a bit different that's for sure. I just prefer the harder rock stuff by nature, so Leverage suits my tastes a little more. Regardless, the guy can sing!

8) I think you'll like it. The record sounds a bit more basic than Goodbye Yellow Brick Road; the songs don't have as 'grand' arrangements, but they are very intense. Especially the title track!

I've read he had throat surgery in the eighties(?) and after that he couldn't sing in falsetto anymore. I suppose that's what he tries to do on the DVD regardless...

For my new AOTW I want to say thank you Tali for getting me into Opeth. Their new record is terrific!

Edenbridge "My Earth Dream" is my AOTW.

I have all their albums, but my opinion on this band is almost bipolar in nature. Sometimes I listen and I say 'why the hell did I buy this album?' then other times, I answer 'oh, THAT's why! They're alright.'

But there are no doubts with this release. In fact, I feel this is the best album they've ever cut, certainly the best they've done since Aphelion and Sunset At Eden combined. If I were doing reviews this year, it would be a top contender for 2008. (I seriously didn't see that coming.)

Well, the throat surgery must have sucked...

Yeah, Tiny Dancer is a gorgeous song! I had planned to watch Almost Famous today, instead I've been busy all day reinstalling my computer... again. It's now finally starting to work like it's supposed to.

My AOTW: Disturbed - Indestructable

I'll same the same thing for this cd as I said for Testament-Formation of Damnation. Exactly what you would expect from Disturbed, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Their music is great with headphones when running and I find myself liking the singer's voice and style.

Anyone heard Communic's new cd? It doesn't come out here in the US until late July I think. Loved their first two and hope this one stays in the same musical vein.

I don't have a specific AOTW. I've been spinning my Genesis collection, after watching a documentary on VH1 Classic on the band. Possibly one of the best prog rock bands of the 70's. Certainly the greatest pop band of the 80's.

I'll use the same band as my AOTW, but a different album: "Lethal Heroes" (or is it Jump the Gun? Booklet has one title, the back cover the other. Both are the same album.) Possibly one of the strongest sets of 80's-style anthems I've ever listened to.

I agree on the guys voice. Sometimes okay, other times it just misses the mark. Good music though.

My AOW: The Empire - Chasing Shadows. Always nice to hear Doogie White singing...

Yeah, musically they're great, the singer I can live with -most of the time. Though I wouldn't mind a more powerful singer.
