My AOTW is in memory of Mel Galley. He played on my favourite Whitesnake record - Slide It In.

A couple of songs were ok in my book, but overall I will agree with Tali.

AOTW: Bob Cately - Sign of the Times. Just got hold of this one so I'm on my first listen.

How does it compare with 'Spirit of man' and 'When empires burn' which is my favourite?

Well it compares quite nicely to Spirit of Man because I am a dumbass and that is the AOTW I am referring to. Don't ask me where I pulled that other title from, no clue. So yes Spirit of Man it is and so far not bad at all.

Don't so much like the production actually - that's one reason why I prefer 'When Empires burn' - I thought the one you mentioned might be his new one, so I didn't think you were a dumbass!

After two spins, I can agree on the production aspect. Not a great job. But at least there are a number of decent songs to make it worthwhile

Does he sing in that horrible post-grungy style mono-voice he used on the first disc?

That track wasn't bad but I also listened to the title track and thought it was depressing as fuck. I just don't 'get' them I guess. Sounds like a grunge band to me and I fucking hated grunge.

Maybe that is why I like them. Aside from the singer, the whole grunge thing (other than Candlebox) is something I ignored back in the 90s, so this is actually something rather new for me.

Well, I have listened to Nostradamus! The songs aren't bad at all, but most of them do sound very alike at first ear. Still, I wouldn't know which songs would have to go to make it a bit easier to digest, because there's something nice in each song.

I tend to prefer the quicker songs, but -to my surprise- at the moment my most favourite song is Exiled. Halford is somewhat weak on the verses there, but the guitarwork underneath and the buildup in the middle section is so irresitable, and in the chorus Halford unleashes. Goosebumps!

It is a strange record, but it's definitely not bad.

AOTW is Pyramaze - Immortal

Love hearing Barlow sing, but the songs are somewhat...repetitive is perhaps the word. I could get bored of most of them quickly I think.

No CD but a DVD: Foreigner - Alive & Rockin'. Brilliant concert with Urgent as the absolute highlight.
This concert was actually at a heavy metal festival, and in advance the band were a little worried how the audience would like them. Um, the crowd turned out to like them extremely well, were blown away even!

I have two AOTWs (to make up for the many times I haven't posted.) Two albums so great, I bought them twice!!!

Ayreon "The Human Equation" (in my first copy, the second cd was stuck in the jewel case, and shattered when I tried to pull it out. I ended up buying a replacement...because I thought it was THAT good.)

Kamelot "Epica" (this second purchase, was a mistake. I was thinking I was buying "Karma" but accidentily pulled 'Epica' from the shelf instead. I gave my accidential spare copy to my bro.)

My AOTW is: Communic - Payment of Existence

I really like their previous releases and this new one is no exception; an onslaught of heavy riffs and that cool singing style the singer has. Only eight songs, but good good stuff.

I really like the song with Mike Baker on vocals. Forget which 'Day' it is, but he sounds like he's having a blast with it.
