Not even remotely relevant. A couple of really important points. First and foremost, Lackey is a complete douche of a human being and he should be arrested for grand larceny, given the contract he signed and his putrid performance. He also holds the dubious distinction of having the highest ERA, EVER by a Red Sox starting pitcher, with a minimum of 25 starts. Given the Red Sox have been playing baseball since the 1800's, this is really fucking bad. I didn't like the signing of Lackey at the time Theo signed him and said as much. He simply isn't the kind of athelete who would ever be embraced by a Boston sports fan. Not to mention, he makes a complete fucking ass out of himself at every post game press conference. That fucker should be sent off to Kansas City or Pittsburgh where nobody even knows what baseball is!

I agree with everything you said here but that has nothing to do with what I was talking about. He is definitely the worst starting pitcher in baseball this year. The fact of the matter is, he pitched well enough in that game to give them a chance to win. He wasn't dominant and he wasn't putrid like he normally is. That was all I was talking about. End of story.

Now I'm hearing talk that they may try to make a last-minute trade for a starting pitcher just to pitch in one game on Wednesday. Unbelievable that it would even come down to that.

I heard that last week. In my opinion, it's pointless. This is a team with ZERO heart. Even if they get into the playoffs (and I personally hope that they don't), they would be the worst team in either league to qualify for the playoffs.

There are maybe a handful of players on the entire team that have been consistently putting forth effort and have performed at a decent level all year. The other guys don't appear to be playing with a fire lit under their asses, which is unfortunate.

Good column by Shaughnessy for once, though it appears he could actually now be wrong about the team making the playoffs...

Somebody give me ONE GOOD FUCKING REASON why Rivera was not in the game in the 9th!!!!!!

There's NO CHANCE he pitches in the next two days AT MINIMUM. AT BARE MINIMUM. He needed the work.

Girardi just threw the game. How much did he get paid to not bring in his closer with a one run lead in the bottom of the 9th? That asshole has NO integrity.

Never mind that the only reason the Satan Rays were even CLOSE was because the umps gave them FIVE OUTS in the bottom of the 8th.

Unbelievable. What a tank job. I thought Girardi was paid well. Somebody obviously made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

NO EXCUSE for not bringing in Rivera there. NONE.

This is one of the biggest con jobs I've ever seen. You bring in Rivera there, 110% of the time, no questions asked...NO DISPUTE. No way, never.

BULLSHIT. Fuck you, Girardi, you bald, worthless, lying sack of Guinea shit.

Wow, all seven actual real lifelong Satan Rays fans should celebrate. The ump just called strike three eight inches off home plate.

I wonder if the ump does Bar Mitzvahs, too.

Amazing that team could clinch a spot tonight and couldn't even get 20,000 lazy retirees into the seats. THAT is why I hate the Satan Rays.

That last pitch was STRKE THREE. That was INSIDE compared to the pitch that ended the top of the 10th. Where did they get this guy? Did the ump go to school with Dwight Gooden?

Fuck you Scutaro...you and Ortiz decided to wear your Rickey Henderson halloween costumes tonight. Pitiful.

And in that other game...the fix is in.

Someone tell me why you send Scutaro with ONE OUT and the heart of the lineup up? Give me a fucking break. He looked safe, too.

And why is Scott the Proctologist pitching for the Yankees? This is bullshit.

The runner was SAFE. The Yankees are up 8-7 in every universe except this umpire's.

MLB and Selig need to investigate NOW. RIGHT NOW.

Yeah they should investigate why the Yankees and Sox have a near guarantee to the post season every year.

Until MLB uses a salary cap, the rich will get richer.

The Sox have only ONE useful free agent on the team. The Yankees, about six.

Also need a salary floor to stop awful owners like Angelos in Baltimore.

I don't fucking believe it.

RELEASE PAPELBON RIGHT NOW. RIGHT FUCKING NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The umps also made sure The Yankees didn't score with 1st and 3rd and no one out in the top of the inning. Well done, Selig!

The umps were in on the Braves, too. They called a runner out who was CLEARLY safe on a stolen base attempt in the 3rd (and I'm rooting for the Cardinals). Next guy up his a home run. Then the Braves lose in extra innings. If that call gets made right, they have a one game playoff tomorrow.

Red Sox got all the calls in Baltimore tonight including a reversal on a play at 1B. Remember when the pitcher from Detroit got screwed out of a perfect game on a bad call at first? Only the Sox or Yanks could get a call reversal like that.

How about placing the blame where it belongs...on the GM. I mean really the manager can only due with what he's given. They imploded basically. Francona won the Red Sox first 2 championships in decades as the manager. Give the guy some slack.

Epstein is the one who should be getting a ton of shit right now for the team's collapse. What with the lineup from the 6 slot down being basically shit and having a shaky bullpen. Epstein signs these guys like Drew, Crawford, and Lackey and they don't perform. Crawford is a perfect example of why it's great seeing a big market team lose. The guy's best season OPS wise was .850 and Boston signed him to a 7 year deal. In order for Crawford to be good offensively he's got to hit .300 at least every season to make up for his lack of walks and this season he didn't come close to that and you see what kind of player you have. Paying JD Drew 14 million when he's never played more than 146 games in a season. Foolish spending a lack of a game plan at the deadline cost the Sox.

As for the Rays beating the Yanks tonight. How awesome was that? If I was in Girardi's shoes as well I wouldn't have used any of my key pitchers late in the game. Their goal as it should be at this point in the season should be to save their key players for a pennant run and not risk using them for a potential injury. Seeing the former Scranton Wilkes-Barre Yankees lose the game was interesting, but really blaming the Yanks for Boston having a 7-20 or so September and choking. You're kidding right?

Nope. Right from the bat, watch the call on Ortiz in the first inning on a breaking ball from Simon that was right down the middle. Plus a"reversal call". When does that ever happen?

Sorry but the Red Sox and Yankees get all the advantages. Sox just choked here. MLB and the networks do everything they can for both of them. They and a few others can wastefully spend year after year because of market size. Other cities? Well they should spend wisely which is a load of fucking shit.

When Kansas City can spend $200 million and get to the playoffs every year I will feel differently.

I heard on TV that the movie had a bad opening weekend at the Box-Office. I went a couple of weeks back to that "Shark Night" movie. I was one of 4 people that were there to see it.

Ah, so Scutaro clearly being safe at home must also be some form of collusion, eh? Some sort of reverse psychology?

Bullshit.

Look at the Phillies. Unlike the Yankees, they respect the integrity of the game. Girardi should be ASHAMED of himself for what he did.
