Let me preface this with........I'm more of a puck lover, and I know nothing of football, college or nfl, or who's who.......but it was cool to accidently flip onto one of the college football games and see Doug Flutie as one of the announcers. He played in the CFL here in Calgary for years, damn the man is aging well. 8)

Good for Atlanta pulling out the 'W' against the Eagles last night!

And, hail to the Redskins!

Nothing short of divine intervention will prevent the Deadskins from finishing 7-9 this year.

GREAT to see those overhyped douchebags from Philly blow one against Atlanta last night. I especially revel in the fact that Michael Prick pointed at the scoreboard to "quiet" Falcons fans, and wound up losing the game with his three turnovers. What a dick.

Really?

Too bad I missed it. Had to skip it for some quality study time. I'll have to see if I can find it on youtube.

I laughed my absolute ASS off when both Giants defense-men dropped simultaneously. I loved the backers reaction when he saw a teammate already took care of it. Unfortunately, this has been going on forever. Didn't Brady stand over a Chargers player last week? S.D probably did the same thing. Fake injury to slow the tempo and actually get the right personal on the field. One player going down is suspicious enough. Two players at the same time going down is downright hysterical and obvious.

Yah, those days are severely outnumbered. You see defensive players VERY timid nowadays with the occasional big hit or two. So many rules against defense's that I'm surprised they can literally stop anybody. Scores should be scored in the 60's by the end of this decade.

Can't stand the way Goodell is watering down football the way he is.There will always be high scoring offenses but i quite like seeing a good game of stout defenses on occassion also.I'd go watch arena league football if i wanted to see a final score of 70-63 or something but your right that is the road we are headed down.

Smash mouth no holds barred football is becoming a thing of the past.We both are fans of teams based on great defenses.Pittsburgh and Tennessee both have a history of having some great defenses and i still believe myself that defenses too can win championships if you have an offense that can get you a couple touchdowns a game and a defense that creates turnovers.Tennessee is ranked third in total defense and i'm sure Pittsburgh having just shut out Seattle is in the top five also.

I love seeing some good hits and one of the most enjoyable parts of the game is seeing someone get drilled on a clean hit.Just like with Harrison on the Steelers getting fined all for playing defense the way he has been playing his entire career. They want him and quite a few others to ease up or they start fining them and i don't think thats fair.

Teams like the '76 Steelers,'85 Bears,'00 Ravens.

Good list. However, I'd flip flop #2 and #3 (Jets, Packers) but I guess NY has the makes of a great defense to balance out that #2 spot.

My top 10:

1. New England Patriots
2. Green Bay Packers
3. N.Y Jets
4. New Orleans Saints
5. Detroit Lions
6. Atlanta Falcons
7. Philadelphia Eagles
8. Houston Texans
9. Baltimore Ravens
10. Pittsburgh Steelers
---------------------------
Hangin' strong: Buffalo Bills, Washington Redskins

Bubble teams: Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, San Diego Chargers

The rest of football-watching America is scheduled to find out Sunday night that the Indianapolis Colts are not good.

Typically a great national draw, Indianapolis plays its first game of the season on national television on "Sunday Night Football" when it hosts the Pittsburgh Steelers.

No team in the NFL had the capacity to come so undone by the loss of its best player like the Colts have without Peyton Manning. At 0-2, they’re talking about seeing incremental improvement. But they’ll have to make a giant leap from how they played at Houston and against Cleveland to have a chance against the Steelers.

A week later, they’ll play in Tampa Bay on "Monday Night Football." Then there is Oct. 23 at New Orleans (Sunday night), Dec. 4 at New England (Sunday night) and Dec. 22 against Houston (Thursday night).

The Colts will be a candidate to be flexed out of those late Sunday night games instead of being flexed into more. (Flexing starts the weekend of Nov. 20, so that New Orleans game is locked in.)

Five prime-time games for a team now expected to be among the NFL’s worst could make for some painful viewing. Let’s remember, however, that plenty of matchups that look bad turn out to be good games to watch and plenty of good-looking matchups turn out to be lopsided duds.

There really is no predicting, except that the networks and the people watching them won’t be seeing what they expected when the schedule came out: The Colts with Manning.

I would NOT, without a shadow of a doubt, be surprised to see Pittsburgh sleeping here and play down to the competition, something we are KNOWN for. We have a very pathetic offensive line and very suspect tackles on the edges, Jonathan Scott and rookie Marcus Gilbert.

This worries me, especially with Ben nursing a knee injury. If we can't get our running game going, then I see Freeney and Mathis getting atleast 4-5 sacks on a banged up Roethlisberger. When our offense isn't tight, we look B-A-D. On the flip-side, we have the speed and potential on offense for the turf. I do however, see a HEAVY dose of Mendenhall this week.

In 2009, I've seen the Pittsburgh Steelers lose 5 straight to the worst teams in the league so trust me, Indy got atleast a chance on National Television.

I have Pittsburgh winning this 27-7.

Maybe even more than 24 because the Steelers are going to trample the Colts and i have a feeling Collins is going to get hurt here very soon and make way for Painter.Even then the QB situation in Indy will be dreadful.

It will be useless for Manning to come back late in the year if the team is like 2-11 or 3-10 of that nature.I think he will end up sitting the year out and if he does come back they will have some rookie QB like Luck waiting in the wings to take over once Manning retires.I think the Colts will be in the running for the number one pick or close to it and they will choose Manning's successor with that pick.

I'm not expecting the Colts to compete all that much in the game against Pittsburgh but I'm going to laugh my ass off if they make a game of it or, God forbid, win the game.

That's a flaw in the Colts way of doing business. They are a poorly run organization, Peyton Manning notwithstanding. There is ZERO point to having a backup QB on your roster if you don't feel he is good enough to play when the starter goes down. Not to mention, their head coach is fucking clueless. I'm not sure I've ever seen the guy utter a single word on the sidelines during a game. This is a really bad Colts team, and Manning isn't coming back this season. If you're a Colts fan, the good news is that you have a really great chance of landing a VERY high pick next season.

Possible. The Steelers love to piss around against inferior teams, especially on National Television. They won't start to dominant atleast until the late 2nd qrt, early 3rd. Their offensive line really holds them back and they are going up against one of arguably the greatest pass rush on opposite ends of the defensive line in football. A team trying to avoid an 0-3 start is always dangerous, regardless.

The Pats* might as well been an expansion team in 2001, that's all their fans can really relate to and talk about in pride. I still say the greatest draft pick of all time for the Pats organization was the 1st round draft pick of the video camera

That's just the hater talk...I've been hearing about tapegate for years, as well as 'Belicheat'. All I have to say is everyone was doing it, he got caught. Vangina didn't have a problem with it when he was with NE, but as soon as he jumps ship for NY - turns his former team in.

What happened the following season? Record-breaking offense, scores run up, and an undefeated season..

18-0 without cameras....

And Stealer fans are just like Yankee and Canadien fans...always living in the past. You weren't alive for 4 of those Championships, so stop talking about them....

You've witnessed TWO. You have nothing invested in the previous years that Pitt sucked ass. The Kordell years?

That is so incredibly retarded to never be "allowed" to acknowledge the history of our franchise, a very proud franchise just because one wasn't 'born' during that era! What a laugh. That is a hater & troll at their best and obviously a comeback-fail of EPIC upon EPIC proportions. As long as the word "Pittsburgh" is in front of the Steelers name, and since I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, sorry, the Black and Gold pride will always be written in NFL history and if you want to talk about your own past (2001-2010) then I'm allowed to talk about our history as well.

Every fan will acknowledge the history of one team regardless, it's what makes up the fanbase of what it is today. You're just mad you can't go back to anything significant before the year 2001

I've seen a pretty stellar franchise in the 90's and throughout the 2000's. I was born in 1988, so since that time I was through the fetus stage and to where I'm allowed to be a fan in S2M's logic, I've seen the Steelers play in 8 Conference Championships, 13 playoff appearances, 4 Super Bowls appearances and 2 Super Bowl victories. Also, during the span of 19 years, I've seen only 2 head coach's (Cowher; Tomlin) which is INCREDIBLE for any kind of franchise. Again, don't be mad at me that it took you decades to actually see a Super Bowl victory in your "era" 8)

Peyton Manning was and is the Colts.Take him out of the picture and you are right they don't have much going for them. They pretty much put all their eggs in one basket as far as Peyton goes and now they are paying for it.Yeah Caldwell has the same expression every time you see him on the sidelines.I may be wrong but i think we could see some dissension between Manning and the people running this team once its time for the draft. If Manning makes it back from this injury without retiring i don't think he is going to like them drafting a QB with the first round pick.I could be wrong but i think the reason they never got quality backups at the QB position is because they didn't want any QB controversies or trouble if Manning started to struggle. They've pretty much gave Peyton the will to do whatever he wants since he has been there and he holds a lot of power in that organization because of how good he is as a player.I don't think its going to end well for Manning and the Colts especially if Manning is due another huge chunk of money and he isn't fully healed.Thats when things could get very interesting.Even the 49ers eventually let Joe Montana go....
