interesting year for the Pack coming up... after last year and the hoopla having to play against Brett for the first time... I dont think all that drama will be in place this time around. So SEPT and OCT wont be so brutal mentally as it was gearing up for Brett to visit GB last season.


PACK have legit claim to have a fast start... but Bears at Solider is always tough... Eagles, Lions, Bills and Skins The pack should be able to take care of...somewhat easy... **if** their defense is stable. But this is what I love about the NFL so many different possibilities... that can come back to bite you if you dont take the teams serious enough.

Roger Goodell will evaluate Roethlisberger's progress before the season and might consider reducing the suspension to four games.

However, a failure to comply with the NFL's ruling might lead to a longer suspension.

Roethlisberger is barred from attending any Steelers offseason activity after Wednesday until he completes the evaluation. He can participate in training camp and preseason games this summer as long as he is cleared by the evaluators and Goodell.

The Steelers were also ordered to remit a portion of Roethlisberger's salary to the NFL for having two players suspended for violations of the league's personal conduct or drug policies. Wide reciever Santonio Holmes was suspended for four games before being traded to the New York Jets this month.

A second player being suspended requires the offending team to pay the NFL 25 percent of the second player's forfeited salary, with the maximum amount being $200,000.

The Steelers had a brief conversation with the St. Louis Rams over the weekend, according to a league source, but the Rams weren't interested in taking on Roethlisberger. The Steelers wanted to send Roethlisberger to the Rams as part of a package to move up to No. 1 overall in this week's draft and select Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford.

The Steelers remain open to dealing Roethlisberger, but they want decent value in return. Given the six-game suspension and the limited interest in Roethlisberger, team sources now view a deal as extremely remote, if not impossible. They never viewed it as likely from the onset, but they were extremely open to it.

wow...that is interesting... I am surprised the league didn't schedule the steelers some AFL teams to boot... no guts league is at it again...
it would have been great TV for the announcers of those early steelers games to talk about BEN...

The NFL, once 365 days rolls around, drastically evolves into make-over mode compared to the season prior, so ANYONE who thinks they have a hard/easy schedule simply is mis-informed of how the NFL works. Also, the opponents for the next several years are and were ALREADY determined before hand, and goes by yearly inter voles within each division. The only thing that changes, and when the NFL forms its schedule is going through what team plays what team via first, second, or third place schedule.

Also, within the "6" games, the Steelers play 2... count them... 2 division opponents, and that's a major concern without a QB heading into the season.

Iam talking about not putting the steelers in PRIME TIME the first six games... that would have been gutsy... is what the league did is put the steelers on REGIONAL TV GAMES where only 25% of the nation will see them the first 4 weeks at least. Its like the league hid the team for nationally covered games... maybe thats the punishment? Along with the two suspensions...

Does it REALLY matter? It's not like we're going to hear about this ALL---SEASON--LONG anyhow. Hell, I'm even drained from it all, and the season isn't even CLOSE to being started. Regardless of when the "prime time" games occur, don't you think it's going to be a big deal anyhow, whether it be the first 6, or the last 8?

I could see a blockbuster trade involving Ben for the best shutdown corner not named Revis in Nnamdi Asomugha. That would be the biggest trade in Steelers history aside from the Rams for Bettis in 1996.

This whole situation is actually getting worse by the minute. I say the city is about 70/30 ratio in favor of getting rid of Ben. Business's are putting it in their windows, people are pulling his jersey's and merchandise and the whole city is very upset and pissed off and do NOT support Ben. Many say it would be the biggest mistake to get rid of him, but the others say it'll be worth the image.

I think he's as good as gone. I hope I'm wrong for the sake of the on field product that could allow Pittsburgh to slowly get through this the right way and stand behind him. I support any decision of the Rooney's.
