I heard Smith pretty much destroyed his drum kit at the end of the show. A friend of mine from work was there. He said it was a hell of a show.

He did....And the funny thing was he and then sammy were trying to find a part of the drum to play...lol Great stuff!

This was my first time ever seeing Sammy live and with this line up all I can say is it was incredible! Just witnessing the jamming of 4 talents like that alone was worth the ticket price. Honestly, I didn't listen to their album enough to learn all the lyrics and music and it didn't even matter. There was not one second I was not enjoying the entire experience. Sammy is an AWESOME front man. It's very obvious he appreciates and loves his fans. Chad Smith was amazing on drums and hilarious to watch too. Satriani of course GREAT. The songs were MUCH heavier live and the encore was never ending! TOTALLY worth every penny! 8)

He wears a shirt a lot that says "I am not Will Ferrell" because of that and he gets approached, I read, for autographs, not for himself, but they think he's Will Ferrell  He definitely has a great sense of humor and is crazy on stage, so that makes the twin thing even more feasible

Rick! It was awesome to see you the other night, as well as Gayle and Jen of course! He did destroy his kit at the end, pretty much stood up the second they were done, and literally walked through the middle of his kit, splitting it in half, and onto the stage, LOL. He also threw out about 247 drumsticks the whole night, did your friend get one? Gayle did! LOL

Yes, he got one. I had him looking for you guys.

It was great to see all of you also. I wish I had more time to spend with you. I'm glad you had a good time at the show.

Well we could have had a half hour more to be exact!! If we weren't sitting at the bar and I wasn't drinking martinis and watching those Stiller's we MIGHT have noticed you sitting at the table behind us! I never thought to look around  It was a lot of fun! 8)

Chickenfoot reminds me a lot of SoulSirkUS...... Great talented musicans who kick ass LIVE, but average material for the first album..... The only difference is that Chickenfoot has the chance to go to the next level through a solid 2nd album,,,, 8)

Agreed, and I was fascinated with his playing. I always seem to watch the drumming at most shows more than anything. I guess if I were a rock star I'd be a drummer   . Would be fun I'm sure.

That was great, then when Sammy did find a part to play and some sticks (surprised any were left after how many Chad threw out! LOL), you could barely hear what he was hitting because all the wires had obviously been unplugged and ripped out and all that, lol.

It was MOST EXCELLENT seeing you girls this past weekend! And you too, Rick, of course!!!!

As far as Chickenfoot....if you ever get the opportunity to see them live, by all means do so. OUTSTANDING rock show. Sammy can work the crowd like no other, and Chad Smith is a mad man. He destroyed that drum kit.....way before he knocked it over and kicked it all over the stage! Amazing to watch. Joe Satriani was the King of Cool....never said a word, but spoke volumes through that guitar. Michael Anthony was busy drinking whatever anyone in the crowd handed him on onstage....seriously.....ANYTHING anyone handed him. Beer, mixed drinks, little airplane bottles of JD......insane. Brave soul.

It was great seeing you, Jen and Rick too! I'm so glad we made the trip! I have no idea why they skipped FL, but we picked a great place to see them for sure! And seeing you all was the big bonus! It's been too long. Even if I was oblivious to the giant Cowboys stadium outside my window, wondering why everyone wanted to know if we were there for "the game". What game?! LOL

This is one of those bands that I suspect are better live than on record. Considering the personnel how could they be bad live! I still think the Chickenfoot album is average. How would you rate it if it was released by a bunch of unknowns?

There is something really really great about these guys live and I'm sure the fact that they are a "Supergroup" has everything to do with it. How could a lineup like this be "bad" live??? They just rock, and they rock hard. The album definitely isn't as hard, so if they were unknown, they wouldn't have drawn a crowd like this for people to know how awesome it is to watch them perform these songs live. The fact we knew what we were getting by each of their careers individually, made it obvious we'd be getting our ticket value. I really didn't know any of the lyrics or songs well going into this, but I love live heavy music so much, I was not bored. I was actually amazed at the talent. That's all I can say is they rocked and they were awesome and I would see them again in a heartbeat 8)

I agree, while I do like the album, it was definitely better live, the songs were heavier and that amount of talent on one stage was pretty mind-boggling to see live.

You're spot on.
Friends of mine, and online accounts such as this one, say they put on a helluva live show, but the cd, which I initially liked, does not stand the test of time.
In fact, now that I’ve had more time to live with it, both HSAS and Sirkus are leagues above it.
The choruses, for the most part, are really really weak.
Hagar screaming "Ariba! Ariba!" like some fat drunken Speedy Gonzales does not a chorus make.
Incidentally, one of the strongest tracks on the album is the Schon-influenced "Learning to Fall."
Satriani is on record saying that radio friendly tracks like "My Kind of Girl" were the exact opposite of what the band was aiming for.
And that's cool...
Music can be progressive and deviate from basic song structure without seeming like an afterthought in-between salt licks and Cabo Wabo shots.
Everyone knows “Neal Schon the guitar player”, but if ever there was an album that made me re-asses “Neal Schon the songwriter” this is it.
Chickenfoot isn’t half the supergroup that SoulSirkus was, or that PlanetUs once promised to be.

Good lyrics w/ Vh, eh?
1st album, 5150 listen to track 1 Get Up, his FIRST track as VH singer and TELL me w/ a straight face you can get by those snickerable lyrics about cooking hamburgers in grease and shit like that....A bad omen to say the least lyricwise.
But you're right he does have some fine lyrics too. Ying and Yang represented on BOBW with "It's About Time (and it's 'Yea Yea Yeaaa"s), Up For Breakfast and its unsubtle cliches juxtaposed against the amazing, deep-thinking Learning To See... 8)

Hey far's VH goes I like the Sammy era BETTER than the Dave, just don't expect me not to mock the lyrics.

Blue car, but true. Sometimes you're just not in the mood for deep lyrics, it's all about the music/groove and vocals! Love CF's Sexy Little Thing and VH's Finish What You Started mainly for their rockin' groove. Love Sammy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEBf450KXTI
