I'm still having Blair Witch (a.k.a. "WTF? Gimme My Damn Money Back") flashbacks though so movies like this worry me.

YUP. Blair Witch was CRAP.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

I saw it last weekend. I thought it was pretty good. But I liked the Blair Witch Project. I would say it does not live up to the hype though. My daughter (who is 12) saw it too....and it scared her alot. But neither one of us lost any sleep over it. But I much prefer this type of movie to a blood and gore type horror film.

But if you didn't like the Blair Witch Project then I doubt you will like this. They are very similar IMO.

YoungJRNY wrote:Okay all you "horror" buffs out there. Are you one of those people who go around and claim that you never get scared or that a scary movie will never get a jump out of you? Look no further. Paranormal Activity is a movie that is hitting this nation by STORM. This movie is a low budget film and only took about 11,000 dollars to make. It is the same category of the Blair Witch Project, a movie set up in realistic standards and reality. This movie was only selected to be in a select few states, but since a petition was started across the world, their might be a showing near you, and finally there is a showing near me, I'm going tonight.

They are saying this is the most chilling, and horrifying movie of it's time. No blood, no guts, just straight, brute terror. I've heard this on the radio many times and people say they couldn't sleep for days after watching this, it is THAT scary. It is about a couple who video tape their paranormal activity inside their household, and things escalate from there. I am really looking forward to this, and want to get the complete piss scared out of me. I believe in the Paranormal, so things like this give me the creeps and I admit I'll prob be a little on the scared side during this. I'll post my review tonight.

So, anyone interested, I urge to go see this if you want the complete hell scared out of you and if you enjoy TRUE scary movies.

********SPOILERS!! BEWARE!!*********

Ok, I won't spoil much but if you dig the scare factor and plan to see it, skip this post...

Keep going....

Last chance....

Seriously? Reports of people not sleeping for days after seeing it? Seriously? Anyone who can't sleep for days after this is probably also going to be afraid of Hello Kitty, a furry little hamster, a number 2 pencil, christmas ornaments and their remote control.

Predictable at nearly every turn, crappy acting and all around lame. But I still recommend it!! I laughed like hell. Between the movie itself and the people in the audience going "Oh hell no!!" this is some quality entertainment.

I want to see the chick getting dragged out of the bed again, that was funnier than hell.

Terrible. Waste of time. 0/10. Whoever got somewhat scarred of this needs to be shot in the kidney's. I would of rather wiped my ass with my money than to see that shit. Couldn't say I wasn't warned. This is the last time I see a "scary" movie in theater's. HORRID. The whole move in a nutshell is in the trailer. I'll be sleeping fine tonight and the piss will stay in my pants.

BJG- You're right, I'd go for the absolute humor in watching the audience. Some dude next to me, had to be about 18 years old, was covering his eyes, yelling "Oh shit NO" and "NO FUCK could this be real" every two minutes while he rubbed his head like a snatch. That 10$ could be useful right about now.

I must say though, I upgrade this movie from a 0/10 to a 2/10 because the girl looked like Pam from the Office and was mighty attractive to me. What a babe.

Sorry dude.
Like you said, you were plenty forewarned.
What I don't get is, even exclusively horror sites (Fangoria etc) are hailing it as a modern masterpiece.
Good on the filmmakers for hitting it big with such a low-tech, bargain basement effort.
Wish I knew what other people saw in it.

I didn't want to spoil it for you before you went Travis, but yes, the movie was a complete and total shitfest. I cannot for the life of me understand how people could be so horrified by this movie, and even more bizarre is the critical praise the film is getting. Saw it earlier this week - and drove 30 minutes away to see it even - and couldn't have been more disappointed.

In related news, Sabrina and I are visiting my folks' place in NC mountains for the past few days and we had the rare opportunity to have a babysitter, so we went to the local 30 year old theatre here where the only offerings were Astro Boy and Saw VI....We held our nose and went into Saw VI and I have to say it was a real nice surprise. I lost track of Saw during the sequel where Shawnee whatsernames' character was introduced. The movie was a real return to form to the original couple of Saw films. I would see Saw VI two times rather than have to sit through that lame ass snoozefest again.

They say it's the cheapest blockbuster horror film yet at $11,000. I say it's the most expensive fake home movie ever made.

Pretty much how I feel at the moment. Drove 45 minutes away for a shart of a movie. I always loved the Saw series and planned on going to see that sometime next week. Even though it's something that repeated, I always enjoyed the element of surprise and twists and turns from a plot standpoint. Saw VI is a safer bet and has now turned into the annual Halloween movie of the year.

Sequels do tend to ruin it sometimes. Glad the the new Saw movie seems to have come back around again to what made the first one so great.

As I said earlier, I loved 28 Days Later but the sequel, (actually made with a big time budget) totally took away from the originality of the low budget original. I don't have high hopes for the next installment, 28 months Later due out in 2011.

I actually thought "28 Weeks Later" was the best zombie flick since the original 78' Dawn of the Dead.
"28 Days" was alright, but a little like Paranormal, the film did not match the blitzkrieg of hype.
The military subplot, in particular, played like a ripoff of Romero's "Day of the Dead", right down to the chained zombie soldier.

In all honesty, the only Dawn Of The Dead movie I have ever seen is the first one. Maybe that's why Iliked 28 Days Later so much. It was all new to me. It probably helps that I didn't watch the movie until two years after it came out. I was totally unaware of the buzz around it's original release. I was working two jobs around that time and missed out on a lot of things that were going on in the Entertainment world. I'm still a couple years behind when it comes to movies.

This movie sucked big time, and luckily, I didn't have to pay $10 bucks to see it. The only thing I wasted was the time to download it, burn it to dvd, and watch it..

I enjoyed it. I went in knowing what to expect as far as what kind of movie it was.

Scary? Not really, but I found it to be creepy. It was only 86 minutes of my life. I went and the theater was packed. People screamed and made comments and folks clapped at the end.

I'm on board with the critics with this one.

I too enjoyed it. I went into it expecting to hate it and for the first half, scowled about how it looked like something made for TV. Yes I know it was low budget. However, I let myself get caught up in it and by the powder/attic scene, I truly felt sick to my stomach. No I didn't pee my pants, scream, or end up puking but at the end I did sit there and think, what the huuu? And when I got home and the cat jumped on the fence, so did I.

I think it is worth seeing.

I'm not sure after reading these reviews I'd see this movie......but I think something even scarier occurred a few days ago on NWA where those pilots were out of contact with ground control for over an hour and overshot Minneapolis by 150 miles. Some have suggested Paranormal Activity???.....right--- I think they were SLEEPING!!! They'd better get fired for this - mid 6 figure salaries and you can't stay awake for 3 hours???????

It was cool when she got dragged out of bed, it was cool to see the footsteps in the powder, it was cool when she was posessed at the end and threw the boyfriend at the camera. But the other 99% of the movie was totally boring. But still..for a 15k budget, imagine the profit everyone involved is making. wow...
