Pitt Bulls can be good or bad. A great deal of the problem is stupid owners. They keep them to look macho and toughen the dogs up. Making them aggressive. I did have a student once who lost all her hair, part of an ear, and half of an eye due to a pit bull attack. The problem is if they are aggressive the damages can be severe due to the strength of their jaws. Some are sweet as pie and would not hurt anyone. Bad breeding and bad owners can be a large problem. :(

Yes, he's precious. Can you believe someone threw him away!?!

For those who don't know the story of Mr. Winkles .... briefly put ..... while heading home from an assignment, magazine photographer Lara Jo Regan witnessed someone tossing something out of their car. She thought it was a doll. Something compelled her to check on the "debris." It was the cutie pie in the picture. He was muddy, hurt & neglected so she couldn't just leave him there. She took him to a vet & quickly fell in love with him......, later naming him Mr. Winkles. Because his new "mommy" is a photographer, she created a calendar of Mr. Winkles with proceeds going to prevent animal cruelty. He also has his own website: http://www.mrwinkle.com They say the reason Mr. Winkles' tongue sticks out is b/c of neurological damage he received from being thrown from that person's car. How could anyone want to hurt such a cutie like Mr. Winkles?

(Sorry for getting sappy. You may now resume your Pitt Bull conversation.)

I was utterly terrified of dogs for several years after that, though I always loved them and I got over it (with the help of a wonderful Golden Retriever!). I have a feeling that the Husky-type dogs referenced in the article are Wolf-crosses which can be temperamental.
i had a german shepard bite me when i was a kid, of coarse i was under the table while he was eating scraps that fell

Sounds like our little Jack Russell - she wouldn't bite on purpose, but when she's going for any food that falls she is fast and her teeth are sharp!
