Exactly. The use of periods is a journalistic slang style so that the reader can keep with the writer in a conversational tone. If the writer during a verbal conversation slows to muse, or offer another thought within a statement, then the writer can use a series of periods to invoke that effect. In other words, I might be saying something but not want to end the sentence without slowing to interject another thought, or give the reader a chance to ponder before coming to a close.

This tool within a conversation style of writing hasn't been emphasized much at all...I mean to say, hasn't been officially recognized or accepted by the grammar gods and purists. However, with so many more outlets for written speech these days - slang, acronyms, invented SMS txt, etc - has become more accepted in general.

I had an English Professor once that encouraged all forms of conversational tone within proper writing. Of course, he was hippie dope smoker that just liked to be a general pain the @ss...so that was his way of protesting the establishment. He was cool...and right. I think he's dead now.

Anyha...

I'd been about to say "now there's a sentence you don't hear every day" but then I remembered that around here, that wouldn't be true.

If I start one named "RobbieG" you think it will get any traffic? I could put a poll on the best way for him to reach a fiery death.

I can create traffic myself, but that would pretty stupid.

Yeah, that Easter one is Friga induced....the Bible, flowers, the Frig, the whole nine yards. That one is right around the corner...I believe right after Ichiro and Baseball's Opening Day.

Careful, that's dangerously close to three times.
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!
