Really it's beyond being funny, he behaves like he has some serious mental issues going on. I wonder how his first wife was able to hang in there with him for as long as she did. Maybe he should just put the bottle away and focus on getting his act together. Then again maybe having so much money and fame has made him thoughtless toward other peoples feelings; I guess he lives in the big I little U world.

My sister has said for a while he looks like he's crazy, that he doesn't seem like the old Mel in interviews. I just think he has a mean streak a mile wide that surfaces every once in a while and coupled with alcohol use brings out the racist that lurks within him. That's my official diagnosis. LOL Or maybe the guy is crazy.

His last movie was average. If he pulls out another genius movie like Braveheart, he will survive anything.

I guess he will, because I think more people probably feel that his racist rantings are ok if not openly at the least somewhere in the darkest corners of their hearts.

My point exactly. Howe many times have we heard someone saying "look a those Mexican doing this" or "did you hear about those black kids doing that?" Just because we have used a different identifier (MEXICAN, BLACK) doesn't make it any different than saying something officially considered to be offensive.

The world is what it is, nothing's going to change it. If it's not racial, it's political or gender discrimination or even religious persecution.

We are hardwired to question anything different, it's part of our survival instinct. We can bury it but if enough stress is created it can be weeded out of anyone, even those that consider themselves above moral reproach.

I don't care about the racist crap, I care about how abusive he's being to his girlfriend. Everyone has arguments in relationships, but they shouldn't involve physical or verbal abuse like that. And I'm pretty sure that the main gist of the article is that he is being abusive to his significant other, not that he just so happened to use racist comments in said abuse. (And if the latter is the main gist of the article, then... wow.)

Both are bad. I can't imagine using that kind of filthy, derogatory language towards a woman. All of his threats, I would be frightened, too, when he goes to his dark places. We had a radio jock here who always sounded great on the radio, but had an alcohol problem and an anger problem, which he admitted too. He had threatened his ex the way that Mel threatened this woman. But one night he came home drunk and his current wife was mad, I guess, that he was drinking, but he took out a gun and shot at their dog, hitting it, and grazing his wife's head. Frightening. I'm not saying Mel would do that, but nobody thought this guy was capable of going that far either.
