doesn't Eddie have total disdain for Schon?

Weren't Eddie and Neal pretty good friends at one point? I seem to remember an interview about Neal playing HSAS for Eddie, which supposedly brought on Van Hager.

Regardless, who Triumph ends up with I'll be there. :D :D

Who cares? Journey opens, plays, and hits the road. They don't need to speak to one another.

Didn't Neal say he didn't want to be opener anymore? I can see where he's coming from, as he's really bought into the hype surrounding the resurrection of the band but honestly, it didn't hurt Daughtry, BEP or Muse being opening acts last year. It actually increased their profile even more and now they're playing high roller venues like Staples and MSG, places that Journey really doesn't have great chances to get into on their own.

Good point. Neal can close all he wants, but he will be closing small ampitheatres, not arenas.

Journey is like the Boise State of Rock. They want to stay in their own conference (the amphitheater circuit) yet they think they should get more respect. The difference being Boise is finally taking a risk and moving to a little bit better conference to try to earn more of the spotlight.
Well, swallow your pride, get on a stadium tour as an opener and see if you can reap the benefits of all the exposure you'll get from being in front of 50k plus daily instead of 14k here, 25k there, 7k here and so on and so on. And don't try to peddle the "We played to 80,000 people at Download, We're already playing stadiums to thousands of fans." Yeah great, so were 23 other bands.

How big of a draw is Heart actually? Even with them and CheapTrick in tow, plus the whole Youtube story getting play, Journey only sold out 30 of the 54 stateside shows they played in 2008. Their ranking was actually higher on Billboard two years before as a Co-Headliner with Def Leppard. Maybe Journey needs to think outside the box this time around.

Since they're all about being good people now and have this newly acquired Christian fan base (Catholics are considered Christian. right?) perhaps Stryper might be the guys to hook up with.

I think it was for Van Hager and Eddie was terrified with having Neal as an opener with SoulSirkus,

With the track record of 2004, 2007, and 2008 - there is a good possibility we could see a 2011 Van Rehab tour.
