There is nothing subjective about lying under oath. It doesn't matter whether he should have been put in that position to begin with or not. Debate that if you want. But there is NO excuse for the president of the united states to lie under oath. He had a choice to make at that moment, and he wussed out. And I don't know if he was the first to, or if he will be the last, but he was the one that was caught in a lie. It's not ok. What kind of lesson is that? For us as the people? And our kids learn this in school now, and its' sad to me. That he had to blemish his presidency that way. Not even with the affair. That is not my issue with him. Its' the lie.
I was talking about the blow job being wrong. That's subjective. It is a crime to lie under oath, but let's think about this for a minute. He hadn't even come clean (no pun intended) with his wife and daughter yet and of course he was gonna lie about it any man or woman who gets caught cheating is gonna lie at first. And there are plenty of excuses for the President to lie under oath, and I'm sure it's not the first time or the last time it'll happen. National security is a very good reason to lie under oath. Being a part of an ongoing investigation is a good reason to lie under oath. Yes, I think it's wrong he lied, but I also try to think of it as if it were me and the pressure I'd be under having been in his position. (again, no pun intended, LOL) And please the "lessons and what will the kids think" is the worst argument. I hate that bullshit. If parents are raising their children correctly, nothing that a stranger or a movie star or a President does should have an impact on those children. I think Clinton should have said to Ken Starr and everyone involved, FUCK YOU and it's none of your business. I also think to put politicians on a pedestal is wrong, no matter who they are or what party they belong to.[/quote]
You act as if he had no clue he would be asked those questions!! He had a responsibility to tell his wife and daughter before it got to that grand jury. But instead he chose to continue the lie. There is nothing you can say that will make that right to me. It was not something that had anything to do with national security and he should not have lied. And by how sad it is for our kids, it IS sad. The respect level these day for president is low enough as it is. That just makes it worse. More of a joke, when they cant' even look up to the president. And you could use the "cheating" thing with kids and explain that people are human... blah blah blah because they are. I don't crucify him for that that at all. But lying in the legal system that HE is supposed to uphold. And he was a lawyer too, so he knows better. It's just a horrible example. You can love the man all you want. I am saying it's very sad he had to blemish his presidency that way. That's something he can never get back either. He will always have that blemish.
And bobby!! you keep messing up the quotes and it says the reverse of what each of us said and I don't know how to fix it
