This is an epic post!

This being L.A., a tenner might even get us the macarena.

I just talked to the boss (You met her last time), and she says she's in. We're going. Prepare yourself, Deb.  I also expect Dean, Lula, Lynn, Melissa, Gayle, Fu Fu, Mimi, Rip, 78 and a few others to be there as well.

I'm in. I was planning a trip to LA around that time anyway. You meeting me in NYC on Saturday night?!?!?!?

Glad to hear that there will be a US tour. I hope to GOD they come to NC...Charlotte or Raleigh or something...there are some cool mid-size clubs in those cities where bands like King's X, Extreme, Warrant, Firehouse etc play to good crowds...surely Mr. Big would do well there.

I wonder who the US label is? Shrapnel probably...

When I spoke to Eric two summers ago, he indicated that they were hoping to schedule something for the U.S., but he was hoping that they could get booked on a package or co-headlining tour with another band(s). This House of Blues date doesn't indicate whether other bands are on the bill and the venue is about the size that Mr. Big could fill themselves.

Andrew, do you know whether the tour will just be Mr. Big in venues of this size, or are they touring with other names in larger venues?

Thanks!

I remember that, Deb, but on the other hand I had another friend who had spoken with Billy, said he mentioned them possibly playing HOB, but nothing was official back then. So I didn't know which way they were going to go. Personally I would much prefer venues like the HOB, etc. (mid size) than bigger venues as a package with another band or 2, sorry Eric I'm siding with Billy on this one. Wouldn't be near enough MB time for this fan.......as part of a package.

I hear ya, Deb! I often prefer the smaller, more intimate shows, too, because they *do* permit longer set lists. Who knows... By the time the whole tour is announced, it could end up being a mixture of both, depending on the market(s).

Hey, did your friend happen to mention if Billy is as chatty as Eric? Damn, that man can TALK! He barely stopped long enough to breathe in like 6 hours!

One of the last shows I saw at the HOB was in Feb. 2009 with George Lynch, Richie Kotzen and Paul Gilbert. Billy Sheehan and Pat Torpey came up to join in on an encore of "30 Days In The Hole," with Richie singing. Great performance, with plenty of unworldly guitar licks to boot.

It's awesome that the band and planning on touring. I have high hopes for their new album.

Billy has said more than once in interviews that THAT performance is where the ball got rolling. He said they had so much fun playing together again, they just knew they had to call Eric............they all talked and met for dinner at one of their houses............and boom the rest is history! Next to a Journey reunion this is one I never thought would happen either...................so I'm totally thrilled! And can't friggin wait to finally see them LIVE!

The only slight bummer for this fan, is we probably aren't going to hear some of those great tunes from the Kotzen era tho.

That's right...I do recall Billy saying that.

Love the Kotzen era too...the Live In Japan CD/DVD is testament to that great lineup's chemistry.

Richie lives in L.A., so who knows, if he's in town, maybe he'll come up to jam!

Yep, it was after Poison. I think around 1998 to 2002. I've got quite a few of MB w/Gilbert dvds, but only 4 dvds of MB w/Kotzen.........2 from 99, 1 from 2000, then their farewell concert in 02.

Sure hope you guys can end up making it, Melly!

IMHO, Eric Martin has a great voice, and he definitely knows HOW to sing....but honestly - that band couldn't write a decent song if their life depended on it. I admit to liking a handful of songs, and actually, that should have been their name - A Handful of Songs. I'd rather listen to EM solo. Maybe A Handful of Songs is better as a live act. I suspect this is so....

 Definitely no argument there, but I don't think the songwriting is as bad as some make it out, most people are just going on the radio hits, and they have some killer deeper cuts IMO, which happen to be my favorites. Although probably a good 80 percent of the songs I like the best are ones that EM and Andre Pessis wrote.....like Voodoo Kiss, Just Take My Heart, etc. I'm hoping that EM and PG have more to do with the writing on this new one. I love Billy and his bass playing, but as much as I love this fun song, come on, Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy isn't a lyrical masterpiece. But just like with Journey and many other bands, it's the deeper cuts not the radio hits that are some of my favorites. Lyrically I really like The Chain....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjRpgU_jdHM

Love EM's solo work, have seen him a few times, and will continue to see his solo shows any chance I get. :D

Nope, hadn't seen it yet! Thanks! Love how the crowd is totally singing along! Have seen other songs from it though.....would love to get my hands on that Jakarta show, great stuff! Blows my mind what crowds they can pull overseas compared to NA. Pat said once in an interview that they sold out the Budakon 3 times over back in the day. They were still able to sell it out twice over last year. 8)

Couple others from the Jakarta show......

New song ~ Next Time Around http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vygJtC-Z ... re=related

Couple faves ~ Tempermental http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p28i_Qkw ... re=related ~ DBLLB http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAImeCYJ ... re=related It's drill time!

LOL never thought these guys would ever even re-unite, let alone be going to a LIVE show.........can't wait! :D

I am so there. I was lucky enough to see Mr. Big open for Rush in 1992 from the front row.

Funny, I got to rock out standing next to Billy Sheehan at this venue seeing King's X in 1996.
