Jim, you are waaaaaay behind the times - I even started a thread asking people what I should be sure to go and do during my 3 month holiday in the SF Bay area ;)

Damn, I forgot. My bad! Hope you're enjoying your visit.

It's El Nino folks...every 7 or so years. We are fine here. The only problems are the Coast line, which is saturated and the highways and railroads are close to going into the Pacific Ocean...and the Sierra Nevada's Donner Pass, has received 13 feet of snow. I have many friends who work for the Union Pacific say they have had to get rotary snow plows out to keep the mountain open, however, the US 80 is closed, and people are backed up for miles upon miles.

Other than that, we are fine. Thanks for the concern though, Jim.

Will top 13 FEET tonight at Midnight. Absolutely positive on this. The snow is above the train windows, which stand at 12 feet high. Passengers reporting seeing white walls of snow for 6 miles on Donner Summit.

Hmmm, interesting...I mean I know you do have a problem with overestimating measurements.....but I'm still not finding any reports that say more than 13 inches...

Depends on where you live. Where I grew up, 13 feet of snow in a winter was a light year! There were days when I would drive to school by 8:30am and at 3:20pm have to clear nearly a foot of snow off the car. Two winters ago, I kept driving past my house, because I couldn't see it - I had to look up our tunnel of a driveway to make sure it was ours! (And no, I don't live in an igloo! )

I've driven through there lots of times ... the town looks so cool, esp. at night when you come out of the pass and the lights are twinkling across the plain ...

The sun peeked through for the first time in 5 days, but it was quickly covered up by more clouds.

It rained very hard this morning...so hard it woke me up @ 4 a.m....

Supposedly, the rain is supposed to subside for a couple of days starting tomorrow.

I wil definitely need an alignment when this is done with, so many potholes have taken their toll on my poor car.

The potholes were friggen ridiculous - I felt like I was playing Gran Turismo at times. I doubt the bankrupt state of California will be on top of these for awhile. Careful driving if you visit anytime soon.

Had a great trip with the g/f. We had stops in San Diego, Channel Islands (Ventura), Santa Barbara and Pismo Beach. Incredible sky line and ocean views, we literally chased the storm. We were lucky to have access to a house on the beach for a few days which was bitchen.

Only downside, had some car issues (a plastic protector got scraped up and almost caused us to be stuck in the middle of no where central california on the way back home), but jerry rigged a solution with some shoe laces. (too friggen funny). I also fought as long as I could a cold, which appears to have turned into a sinus infection.

Anyway... Here are some pictures for those of you interested. We road the storm and made out pretty good.

Great photos, Brandon. Just another reminder why a lot of us continue to live here, despite economic problems and occasional issues with Mother Nature.
Even with the overcast days and rain, it is still a beautiful place to be.
