I remember this scene all too well from Fight Club
" God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables – slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our great war is a spiritual war. Our great depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars, but we won't. We're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off."
Life's a bitch, ain't it? Part of wisdom comes from learning who you are, and what you're capable of in the process. Stop buying into all the trite, pretentious and superficial advertising, movie and MTV lifestyle BULLSHIT and work on being humble, thankful and true to yourself. Things will happen over time, and if you have any semblance of soul, you'll find your way. Hang in there man, in this country, with a modicum of intelligence and emotional intelligence, odds are in your favor, there will be good times to come.
