Business has been 'forced' to have certain things covered in health insurance by the states for DECADES.
Why have you not been arguing against this for the past THIRTY YEARS?
Oh, wait, maybe its because Republicans decided to make an issue out of it this year.
Hmmm, wonder if RomneyCare has been picked apart for what coverages it mandates? Since he's the likely nominee....I think it would be something he may want to have an answer for.
Granted, people speak of news items. But don't you think that those that speak out against it must hold those beliefs and therefore have always felt that way about many things? Or do you think they just do what Rush tells them to? I don't think anything because someone tells me to. But I may comment on what is in the news. And forcing an insurance company to cover contraception for all women, whether they can afford it or not, is just plain wrong. In fact, covering most things that people can afford is wrong. And you say it's not a slippery slope when in fact you stated two things that in fact do indicate it's a very slippery slope. Number one, you say the states have been mandating for years. Hmm, that sounds like a slope to me. And number two, you mentioned this whole situation, insurance companies covering contraception. Sounds like the slope getting steeper. And further proof yet is the government telling religious organisations that they must cover things that they inherently are against. Whether you agree with a religion's views or not, this country allows a certain level of freedom for the practice of religious views. The slope gets much steeper as we go, doesn't it?
If you can state the need for a woman making $100,000 a year to receive free contraception, I'd really love to hear it. Not sure why my rates have to go up for that.
If you believe that the government has a right to tell private companies what they must sell, or where religious organisations must break with their traditions, then no one is going to change your mind on this. And you simply don't see the constitution as something we must first amend before we can make laws beyond it. But I warn you - if that's your premise, there will be much chaos for you when the people you dislike come in and do things without our long-stated process, and you will have no defense.
I personally do not believe that people should be forced to have insurance. In fact, it makes me sick to think the government thinks they can even attempt it, yet they have. And before you think I am following someone's marching orders, I feel that way about many things and have since I was a teenager. All sides.
It's so funny how the two sides point fingers. When once in power, they all do the same crap. For instance, Gitmo was ok for the right, and evil for the left. All that no right to due process/devoid of due process stuff. You know - the right holds them forever, the left wants to put them in court like common criminals. And then suddenly, the left says it is ok to target and kill an american citizen without any due process, and the right says BS.
For the right - make a list of all the things you hate about Obama right now. Bush did mostly the same stuff. For the left, I heard 8 years of pure hatred for Bush. I challenge you to find a 10 percent difference in Obama at the end of your list. Not theory and what he thinks, but what he's done. There is a counter to nearly everything in that list.
I'll help you with the big ones. Abortion is no more legal now than it was under the last several republican presidents. Obama says he promised to get out of Iraq, but it was Bush's negotiated timeline he followed. Obama is against gay marriage, just like George. Obama passed Obamacare, George Bush passed Medicare and prescription drug benefit entitlements. Want to talk about transparency, presidential powers, the Patriot Act, campaign finance, and lobbyists? Every president has gotten progressively worse (or corrupt in my opinion) as they went. Obama is the king of all this and nobody challenges him on it. George was a formidable runner-up. How about this one - deficit reduction. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Balanced budgets. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. Taxes. Ha ha ha ha ha. I have to stop myself before I puke!
