Dayummm!!
Been to the tomb twice in my life. Truly one of the most incredible displays of honor and respect you could ever witness. Totally humbling experience. I remembering reading or maybe someone told me... the soldiers who get that duty are chosen from a list of individuals who represent the best of the best and sometimes may have been on the list for years hoping to pull that duty once in their career. It's a big deal to be selected apparently and they take it very seriously. That's very cool!No Surprize wrote:Fact Finder wrote:

i don't think the people in Atlantic City would agree....scarygirl wrote:Typical drama, yawn, yawn..... It has been downgraded to a storm. Are you kidding me? I have seen worse during a routine thunderstorm. Looks more like a regular rainstorm to me.

My daughter lives in Norfolk, and she said the same thing.

This weather is to be expected given the time of year. Personally, I blame Obama....

I love how they put these poor reporters out in harms way with their rain parka on, about to get blown down. I don't think the news viewing public would be disappointed at all if they stopped that practice altogether.

Yeah, if we could only now convince them to put Kathy Lee Gifford out there.

Still have power here as well. Schools already closed tomorrow so no work for me. It's "interesting" outside to say the least but we are fine.
That's my biggest issue with live news coverage of events like this. On the one hand, you're happy and appreciative of the technology that allows everyone to get real time status reports literally as it happens. On the other hand, every news agency fights to be THE source for info and will sensationalize the slightest detail and put the most ridiculous spin on something so they can say they were the exclusive source for this and that. The sentimentalization of anything and everything - including situations which are literally life and death has created a news media monster that has become agonizing and unreliable.scarygirl wrote:Rick wrote:scarygirl wrote:Typical drama, yawn, yawn..... It is kind of like, okay, they keep talking about the darn CRANE collapse. Really, you don't think we got that the first 1200 times it was reported? Someone wake me when the Wicked Witch of the West shows up, okay?
