I went to visit and hang out with my brother last night (not T-Time, my other brother) who came to the Las Vegas show with me in March 2008 with the big MR get-together at the Heart Bar. He never visits this board and his last memory of that trip came up last night. My brother never talked to Deano on these boards nor did he ever know his legend when in Vegas. He just happened to overhear Deano say "Fuck" in a very funny way and my bro laughed at the way he said it. Out of nowhere last night, he referenced that but couldn't figure it out where it came from. I looked at him and was like "Dude, that's very weird. That was Deano's line in Vegas, today is his birthday." We looked at each other and saluted Big Dean. Cool but weird moment.

I remember your other brother. Steve, I think? He was the quiet one. Super guys, all of you.

That's right, Rick. He's the quiet one, I'm the blabber, lol. Thanks for the nice compliment. I think highly of you as well. In fact, if my trip to Dallas wasn't so busy, I told Gayle to get ahold of you to just say hello! Next time my friend. I love all you guys here at MR and Deano was practically a main attraction for that. I'll always be grateful to have met such great and wonderful people on these boards. Good times, Deano was proud.

She pm'd me on here and I gave her my phone number. She had my old one, so she wasn't getting through. I understand how busy trips like that can be, but we'll get together one of these days.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Yeah, the place has lost a bit of its luster for better or worse.
For me, not just Dean but quite a few others who I could chat with on Friday and Saturday nights, putting up music links, talking, drinking and joking about an older era and just having a good time. They're all gone now for whatever reason. That's life though; nothing can stay the same, right?

plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose
The more that things change, the more they stay the same..

Not on the internet, they don't. The dynamicity of the whole online social infrastructure makes it impervious to long term stability.

Something else that's odd is back about a year ago around the fall of 2011 we had a few PM's i still have saved here where he was really struggling and looking for anything that would help and i was also struggling pretty bad myself its just really dark some of the things we discussed and he told me his problem was not drink or pills that opiates actually helped but he said he was critically depressed and the pain was great.Anyway i tried to delve deeper and find out just what it was that was causing him so much hurt.I told him i was reading the Keith Richards book life and he asked if Springsteen was mentioned anywhere in the book and we were talking about how fucked up Keith Richards was and he would outlive everyone.

Anyway i asked if he thought maybe he might be causing himself problems with the drinking and the pain pills because for at least four or five straight years after i joined here we always were debating on if opiates helped depression and he thought they did and myself suffering from depression i took them too for depression and they helped.Anyway he said thats why they call them happy pills and he talked about how we needed to drop a million painkillers over the middle east and there would be no more wars and everyone would be happy as fuck, lol.Anyway he said he did not think the drink or pills were causing him problems or making his life harder.Well i did not drink, smoke or do any drugs the only thing i had was a bad painkiller habit going on over ten straight years.Right there toward the end in one of our last PM's i told him i couldn't do it much longer that it got to the point where i needed to stop or i'd die plus it got to where i was taking twenty or more a day so after a few days my scripts ran out and i'd be spending the bill money buying more and for the first time ever it got to the point where i could not pay my bills plus i started blacking out and having physical issues.

By December 2011 i was thousands in debt and someone here on this very board helped me out financially so i could get my kids christmas and for that i'll always be thankful because i was at the end of my rope literally. In January 2012 i finally decided to get help and matter of fact next Friday it will be one year of my being sober.Anyway when i was getting help i wasn't on the board for a good while and literally the day i came back here i was excited and my intention was coming here to tell deano i was sober and off the painkillers and it could be done and you could have a life without the painkillers.Anyway as i was looking to PM him i glanced up at the stickeys on the board and saw the notice about deano passing and it was really bizarre especially because i was so excited about being clean and wanted to share this info with him that i'd learned and i just got real upset because at first i did think maybe he had went to far and had takin too much of something but i had someone tell me right after i read what happened that deano was actually trying his best and had been doing well when he passed.I had only been clean about a month when i decided to visit the board here and of course thats when i found out and the thing that upset me most was i honestly felt like if deano had lived he would've beaten these demons just like i had but when its your time to go its your time.
