it's not funny when you have to explain the humor. this is how i took it. people supporting obama... who voted for him may have bumper stickers on their cars... not all obama voters/supporters but some. in support of obama they took their "clunker" in & got cash. now tho they prolly have a new car with a new obama bumper so i guess the joke doesn't make sense. haha! }:C)) oh well... i got a chuckle out of that quote.

Prayer is fine for those who believe and find solice there. For those who don't it's your perogitive. But sometimes it is just as tiring to have folks slam you for your beleifs. I don't condone shoving religion down anyone's throat...........but I wish people would give me my first amendment right to freely express mine. Seems people forget the part about the free exercise of religion. Seems more and more rights are removed every day. I am not knocking anyone's oppinions here so don't get me wrong. I am just making a statement of my own, when they start to remove crosses from Arlington's cemetary because some nut job is intolerant of a little white cross...........don't think it won't happen. There is a case where a white cross has been covered up that is a monument to fallen soldiers. Sad. Last time I checked, unless your a vampire in a movie, crosses don't make your face melt, or cause spontanious combustion. To soldiers it has a deep meaning, and it is sad that something monumental to our fallen soldiers is removed, or covered up because someone is going to go insane over the sight of a cross. If it means nothing to you, or you don't beleive, it is just a couple of white sticks. It has no power, no evil mission, just a memory of someone's loved ones. No one is instantly mezmorized and forced into mind control of becoming christanized at the sight of one. I say intolerence can go both ways. And either is bad. Just an oppinion........carry on! :D

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights. The amendment prohibits the Congress from making laws "respecting an establishment of religion", prohibiting the free exercise of religion, infringing on the freedom of speech and infringing on the freedom of the press. In the 20th century the Supreme Court held that the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment applies the First Amendment to each state, including any local government.

That's exactly the way I read it. You'd almost have to be a poor, uneducated dumbfuck driving a 1982 Pinto to vote for that fuckhead. 3 out 4 seems about right. But, fear not, Lula, you're the other "one." :)

You have to take the other candidates into consideration here. The Republican ticket offered less. McCain and Palin? You have got to be able to do better than that.

The fact is, after 8 years of GWB, people would have voted me in before they'd trust another Republican. I'm not casting aspersions on the Republican party any farther back than GWB's tenure, but that was a hard fucking 8 years.

I beg to differ. You had a war hero and a Governor that had the country's finest run state. A state where people got money back at the end of the year because the budget was run so well. Biden doesn't know when fucking TV was invented and Obama was a street hood that hung around with domestic terrorists, racist, American-hating pastors and was deeply embedded in ACORN. The choice, while neither side offered a compelling team, was still quite easy.

He has credentials, she has none. That being said, after GWB, there was no other choice. He damaged the party beyond repair at that point.

Remember me when this happens. The Republican party WILL have a minority on the ticket next time. That will show you just how shallow they are.

And nothing has changed. Democrats are still keeping them enslaved by making them dependent on the government to ensure they (welfare dependent blacks) don't ever get on their feet. The ghettos are getting worse and more popualted. It's all about votes for life.

Look, the country is through until further notice. Nobody worth 2 cents wants to be PotUS these days. I've said it before and I'll say it til my face turns blue, LOOK AT THE TWO BUFFOONS WE HAD TO CHOOSE FROM IN 2008. LOOK AT THEM.

If those were the best two choices we had, we are finished as a great nation. Through. Done. Cooked. Over.

Stop taxing us to the point where we are slaves for half the hours we work, stop making us pay for things we don't want to pay for, get some parity in our broken two-party system which promotes nothing but fools who pander to extremes, flush the illegals out, close our borders for a while, or else we are done.

And the word "liberal" used to be synonymous with laissez faire market economics.
What's your point?
You're talking ancient history.
Lincoln's GOP also supported a tax on inherited wealth.
Want to re-embrace that ancient relic of your past, too?
Like Goldwater, (who said Reagan let the party be hijacked by kooks), Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt would have NOTHING to do with the modern GOP.

What would you suggest we do?
Any effort to get big money out of politics run into free speech issues (see Mccain Feingold).
For now, third parties only stand a chance at the local level.

Therein lies the problem - there is nothing that can be done. That's why I fear we are going to be hurting for a LONG time to come. The system is so entrenched. I don't think I'll ever see a third party with a legitimate shot at a national level in my lifetime... certainly not a fourth or even fifth party.

If Perot couldn't seal the deal, I guess you're right.
Nader managed to fill Madison Square Garden in 2000, for whatever that's worth.
Would've liked to see Ron Paul run in '08.
The Libertarians were nicely situated to make a dent in the GOP, but Bob Barr really dropped the ball.

If you continue to let the 'right wing' have control, you have bigger and bigger business, paying their employees as little as possible. What you wind up with is the rich and the poor. Happy rich motherfuckers and poor, pissed off, looting, stealing motherfuckers. selling methamphetamines to feed their kids.

If you let the 'left wing' have control, you still have big business, but they are paying their employees a decent wage, who are not looting, stealing, selling drugs, and ultimately, living a decent life.

In short, the 'right wing' promotes drug traficking.

Did you ever you think for one minute and realize that the best way to create peace is by avoiding conflicts and wars and try to solve problems in a diplomatic way , rather than attacking anyone that doesnt agree with us .

OCTOBER SURPRISE: OBAMA WINS NOBEL PEACE PRIZE...
MIXED REVIEWS; 'EMBARRASSING JOKE'...
PAPER: This makes mockery of peace prize...
White House Aide: 'It's Not April 1st, Is It?'...

Analysis: He won, but for what?

By JENNIFER LOVEN,
AP White House Correspondent – 1 hr 14 mins ago

WASHINGTON – The awarding of the Nobel Peace Price to President Barack Obama landed with a shock on darkened, still-asleep Washington. He won! For what?

For one of America's youngest presidents, in office less than nine months — and only for 12 days before the Nobel nomination deadline last February — it was an enormous honor.

The prize seems to be more for Obama's promise than for his performance. Work on the president's ambitious agenda, both at home and abroad, is barely underway, much less finished. He has no standout moment of victory that would seem to warrant a verdict as sweeping as that issued by the Nobel committee.

And what about peace? Obama is running two wars in the Muslim world — in Iraq and Afghanistan — and can't get a climate change bill through his own Congress.

His scorecard for the year is largely an "incomplete," if he's being graded.

He banned torture and other extreme interrogation techniques for terrorists. But he also promised to close the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, a source of much distaste for the U.S. around the world, a difficult task that now seems headed to miss his own January 2010 deadline.

He said he would end the Iraq war. But he has been slow to bring the troops home and the real end of the U.S. military presence there won't come until at least 2012, and that's only if both the U.S. and Iraq stick to their current agreement about American troop withdrawals.

He has pushed for new efforts to make peace between the Israelis and Palestinians. But he's received little cooperation from the two sides.

He said he wants a nuclear-free world. But it's one thing to telegraph the desire, in a speech in Prague in April, and quite another to unite other nations and U.S. lawmakers behind the web of treaties and agreements needed to make that reality.

He has said that battling climate change is a priority. But the U.S. seems likely to head into crucial international negotiations set for Copenhagen in December with legislation still stalled in Congress.

And what about Obama's global prestige? It seemed to take a big hit last week when he jetted across the Atlantic to lobby for Chicago to get the 2016 Olympics — and was rejected with a last-place finish.

No, they are all corrupt. Please tell me who is making more money now than they were 10 months ago. In fact, please tell me how people are doing with their jobs (or lack thereof) in general in the last 9 months. We're approaching a year here, the "Blame Bush" mantra can only be repeated with a straight face for so long.
