I don't recall calling you any names.
Your video, (by a free market think tank, natch!), offers a false comparison.
The new healthcare bill doesn't come close to England's NHS or Canada's system.
(We already have versions of both those systems in this country, by the way - they're called the VA and Medicare)
Again, I am just glad people who need help will be able to get it.

Total shit stain of an answer. People need to pay their own way. Should homeless people be allowed to just walk into your fucking house and move in? Then I could use your shitty answer "I'm just glad that people that need homes are getting them." I guess the inconvenience of footing the bill wouldn't bother you. Because it is bothering me now.

I didn't think it was a "shit stain" of an answer. LOL.
As for your hypothetical of 'footing the bill' for housing the needy, that already exists.
It's called subsidized section 8.
Where've you been?
Subsidies are a very small part of this new healthcare bill tho.
It's premium funded, not taxpayer funded, and the the public option covers less than 2% of the population.
Instead of housing, I would compare healthcare to our police and fire departments.

Wasn’t it Bill Clinton who said "run on your record" or something like that?
as I understand it, most of this bill doesn't take effect for years, but some provisions set in immediately.
Things like banning recissions and insuring those with pre-existing conditions could end up more popular than you may think.
Either way, I’m just glad sick people are going to get the help they need. :)

Yeah, just let it rip in your effort to increase cancer deaths here in the states to match UK and Canada. At least we'll ALL be EQUALLY at risk of dying sooner! I know that's whats important to you libs. I pity anyone who comes into my home and strips the healthcare from my son and family. These politicians need to be strung up from the highest tree. I condone anything that happens to them!

What keeps "America at its very best" is when people with no excuse other than pure laziness take a dip in the pride pool and start at the bottom and work to the top. I'm tired of people not wanting to work at McDonalds, Burger King, Wal Mart, etc. They're simply too comfortable with the free money they're getting and don't want to work for the equivalent of cents on the hour. What they fail to realize is that 2, 5, 10 or 20 years down the road they could be managers making exponentially more money. The solution isn't another failed handout. We have generational evidence that points to the fact that this method has failed terribly. Get a fucking grip. That has only exacerbated the problem. YOU and others like you, with this weak mindset, are a part of the problem. Keep "giving" while they keep laughing. Fuckin' enablers.

Exactly. So many people are so proficient at scamming the system, that if they worked as hard in making something out of themselves as they do in dreaming up new ways to scam the system, shit, they'd be among the rich!

I keep remembering a time I did a Thanksgiving turkey drive last year and a family of 4 pulled up to get a turkey... in a Benz. Okay... bad enough.

Imagine my surprise when they came back at the end of the day to get ANOTHER one, thinking we wouldn't remember them?

Sadly, in my experience, this is far from a rare occurrence. They are brazen enough to do it where they are getting the handout personally... can you imagine when the handouts are coming to them in the mail or at some anonymous government office?

Libs, what is wrong with people working, saving money, and planning for the future? If you don't even have a GED and have a job at McD's, don't crap out 3 kids or buy a brand new car... etc. etc... and if you do, you must live with the financial consequences. The truth is, the vast majority of people don't want to start from the bottom like Dan says. There is a VERY SMALL percentage of people who can't hold a job down through no fault of their own (e.g. severe mental handicap, but excluding being a drunk or a drug addict like many who receive tons of aid). They can be helped along, that's fine in my book... but any one who either has incapacitated themselves through their own bad decisions, like drugs and drinking, or simply being lazy, does not deserve help.

All this weak-willed stuff is indeed part of the problem, as Dan said. It's ruining us.

I guess we just share a fundamentally different view of America.
The state of healthcare in this country impacts hard working middle class families, not just crude one-dimensional 'Amos n' Andy' stereotypes, as you seem to believe.
The greatest generation went to school on the GI Bill.
The elderly were pulled out of poverty thanks to social security and medicare.
If you don’t think you’re standing on the shoulders of those who have been helped by government intervention, you’re deluding yourself.
Besides, the healthcare bill doesn't even come close to welfare or a handout, so your whole argument is moot.

I heard Obama say, if you have health care, nothing will change in your coverage. Said it right there on TV. If you're paying for your own health care, how could anything change? And you're paying for nationwide health care already. Unpaid medical bills cost the government nearly $1B last year. I just don't see how everyone doesn't think it's a great idea. People in the medical profession should be jumping for joy on that one. Many more jobs will be created in the medical field, and the $1B saved will pay for the whole damn thing. The only thing it won't cover is people in this country illegally.

I have no idea what you are trying to say there? Standing on the shoulders of those helped by entitlements? Last I checked, the lady who crapped 6 kids out out of wedlock did not cut my last paycheck. Or am I misconstruing something relating to WWII vets going to school on the GI Bill? If so, I don't see what that has to do with anything in 2009, 10000000 stupid entitlements (vs a good "entitlement" - which it's not since they actually worked for that privilege) later

Rick you can't be that naive man. "You heard him say?" If I had a dime for every time I heard a politician say something that turned out to be true... I'd have no money!

As for your argument regarding the industry, absolutely NOT! The health insurance industry, like it or not, employs tons of AMericans. They will be devastated. Medical professionals are scared shitless right now too. I just saw my physician for my check-up and he's about ready to close down his practice if all the things that are allegedly about to come to pass do.

Mind telling me what "ghetto urchins" and "Benz-driving ladies who crapped 6 kids out out of wedlock" have to do with reforming healthcare?

Wow, I'm shocked to see a caring democrat make such a blanket statement about someone else like this. Aren't you democrats supposed to be understanding and compasionate? wait, don't answer that. If you hadn't figured out, sarcasm was abundant...

Regardless, it's shocking to see you so quick to pre-judge his situation without knowing much beyond what is posted here. For all you know, his 5 years since being 'cut from the umbilical' have been filled with financial and social success to the point that he's *more* than qualified to make a judgment about politics. Such prejudiced speech from the left. I'm shocked!

I suppose it's not worth it marching into the ghettos to drum up support from barely 18 year old voters, infirmed voters and of course, the real liberal ace in the hole, dead voters.....they wouldn't know what the hell they're talking about...

Oh wait, they're not white males.

Uh huh, right. The true colors come out. You've done your side proud today. Don't really see what pointing out your goofy ass race card fallback has anything to do with any of the nonsense you just posted above and we won't even go into financial situations because that is in poor taste, so hopefully you will let that go now that you've broached the topic... cuz trust me, it ain't a winning one.

Matt and the other Cons weren't exactly "understanding" and "compassionate" to Lula.
By my count, she has so far been called a "mental midget", "a dope", as well as being told to "get a fucking grip" and told she has "a weak mindset."
Where were you on your white horse then, Lancelot?
Lula is probably one of the nicest and classiest posters on this forum, and doesn't deserve any of that.
The Republicans in this thread are really showing their true colors, and your post is no exception.
Stay classy Cons.

I called her a mental midget after she played the race card on me, quite fair in my measure.

We also don't run around claiming to be paragons of virtue, chivalry, and compassionate, selfless altruism as some on the left here do, so I don't know why any of that matters any way.

Lula is probably one of the nicest and classiest posters on this forum, and doesn't deserve any of that.
The Republicans in this thread are really showing their true colors, and your post is no exception.
Stay classy Cons.

Matt and the other Cons weren't exactly "understanding" and "compassionate" to Lula.

Your hero would be a guy that hoped G.I. Jim would be on the mortal end of an I.E.D. After all, you are a liberal democrat and there's a huge amount of them (which you or may not be included in), like the freaks in Berkeley and SF, that root for our troops to die. Nice hero you have.

Total distortion.
I've got plenty of friends that are serving, or have served, their country.
Last I checked, you supported George W. Bush, who didn’t just wish for soldiers to die, but gave them a courtesy shove into the teeth of the Iraqi sausage grinder.
You wanna go down the BS guilt by association route?
That's fine.
Then not only did you root for soldiers to die, you helped pull the trigger.

I think right or left we all would like an answer to the health care issue. But throwing money at it blindly won't fix it any more than throwing money at the economy or our schools have done.

This needs to be thought out carefully and done in a decisive and controlled manner. No hidden agendas, closed meetings, or political posturing added.

Lula wants what is best for the people without health care in this country. I can see that very clearly. She has a great big heart. And calling her names only reduces the credibility of the person arguing.............

I don't know any good facts to support my arguement so ............your a poo poo head! Sounds just as mature.    Lighten up!  I don't think anyone here wants anyone to die from lack of care, or from neglected care. Left or right.

Now do I agree with the present proposed bill? NO! It is going to be a nightmare. It is too costly and there will be problems with rationing. Just watch. It makes no sense the way it is written. I think we need to get some true experts in the feild to help. Like doctors, hospitals, and medical staff. Who else knows better what the heck is needed?

That is like the no child left behind act.........wich is commonly known to teachers as teach to the test. And our kids are still failing! How about dealing with true problems like student apathy? How about single parent homes where the parents work so much they cannot help their children with homework at night? How about kids in abusive homes, and homes where food is scarce? Can you teach a child who is hungry? Can a child learn math when dad beat the heck out of mom last night? Some of these kids deal with a great deal more on their plate than Algebra. Some are working at night to support their family.

Nothing comes with a blanket answer.

Yeah, and don't forget referring to a down syndrome baby, as a "backwoods retard baby".

That is correct.
Not politically correct enough for you, RWF?
I had no idea you were so sensitive.

Anyone calling a downs syndrome child a "retard" has not known the beauty of children with downs. They are full of life and love. I would say that is the most ugly thing I have ever heard anyone say.  Talk about a total lack of heart and class.
