American Idol 2010

General Intelligent Discussion & One Thread About That Buttknuckle

Some top experts and teachers believe now that Lambert is a borderline baritone that can riff or jump to and d or d- note and do it without breathing. Neither Perry, Mercury, or anyone else known since 1921 has ever been able to do that and do it clean and free without break. The last known male to have that kinf of game was a oprea singer who was the last known castrated. Male singers had there private parts cut off and lived a life as a oprea singer with uncanny baritone-to-head voice-to falsetto. These kind of singers worked in theater and opera up till tieir 70's. Lambert is a one-and-a-million vocalist who is a borderline baritone that can switch to tenor with ease.

One of my favorite songs on the cd. But I think my favorite is still this stripped back performance of Smokey Robinson's Tracks Of My Tears, loved it! Even Smokey absolutely loved it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XpISZJsRBU

Like this more natural look too (sans makeup). Dude's a nice looking kid with great eyes, doesn't need all that makeup and stuff. He totally looks like the lovechild of Elvis and Kurt Russell in that clip.

Mad World is it for me. I would say it's one of my top ten vocals performed of all time. Stunning, stunning, stunning vocals. And I loved him just sitting on the chair all in white, simple, yet riveting. I can't find that one except disabled from pasting. But here he is on Idol tour and his vocals still give me chills on this song.

I would have to say for me as a person of 50 years old, Lambert is a throwback from the 70's 80's vocally but to an extent. He only pulls off a note or notes or even a sentence in any level (head voice or falsetto) because he believes or has grown up believeing thats how it would have been if he lived or sang in that era. He's a throwback for sure. I have gone backed a viewed Tracks of My Tears, Mad World, Whole Lotta Love, Born to Be Wild but my two most impressive for me are Feeling Good and Sam Cookes A Change Is Gonna Come. The vocals on those (studio) version were dam impressive. So much so, i'll go on record and say no one could have pulled them off as good vocally in all areas. Low's, high, riffs, you name it. WOW.

Wow is right. I forgot how great A Change is Gonna Come is. I'm pasting the studio version, but the ones that want to keep Adam in a box won't listen.

Jana thats life and even though there is little question he is heads and shoulders above any male vocalist today, that doesnt mean he will sale 1, 2 or 3 million copies of his CD. He has sold 800,000 to date. This is a different time and the music business is so dam frickle that they are always looking for the next greatest artists. Thats the way it is, sad but true.

Tony Harnell of TNT blows Lambert away....just cos he sing like a castrated opera singer doesn't make him the best singer in the music business....

Well, i would like to hear him take on Trcks Of My Tears, Whole Lotta Love and Feeling Good. You say this guy is better than Adam Lambert, who are you kidding. There is no way. Lambert made half the world's jaws drop to the ground for 3 minutes and i for one know a singer when i hear one.

What kind of music does he sing. Is he rock, soft rock or all the above. Is he a professional and have a cd out?

But my point with Lambert is that he's a borderline baritone who is confused between a counter-tenor or plain tenor. That is hard to find. Oh yea, one other thing, he doesn't go into falsetto till the end of mad world and at the middle and end of feeling good. Name me a singer with a superman power like that. Translated to his debut album on certain tracks. H'mmmm.

Ok, you convinced me. That last fact about him being superman was the capper....Adam is the greatest singer who ever lived....

BTW, I liked Lambert the first time I heard him, you know....when he released 1999. Prince even sings circles around Adam. And he's making you a coat of Pink Cashmere..

You really like Prince more vocally than Adam Lambert. Hell, i think i like Roger Daltry and the Boss better than Prince's vocals and both of them suck. LOL.

Oh, come on. Prince isn't a fantastic singer, though an amazing all around musician/singer. And I love him on The Most Beautiful in the World.

I agree. But you can tell that was written by Muse. It's written all over the song.

I have never heard Lambert mention Perry vocally for or against his style. Kinda surprises me a little.

Journey361 - Adam did mention Steve Perry as an influence. He mentioned a very few others. The others were Steven Tyler , Robt Plant, Freddie Mercury and that is why ,I would imagine, he choose to sing their songs. Oh, and because he could !!!!!

OK, Thanks, i never heard him mention Perry which i'm surprised by that. He doesn't sound like Perry what so ever, but he has the skillset to pull off some Perry tunes.

Journey 361- His ending on- Don.t stop believin on the AI tour ,I think shows, he knew exactly what he had to do to finish out that song & he was the only one that could do it. If I find the article/ interview I'll let you know. It was months back/ after AI.

This is the Idols rehearsing the song for the tour. If you can get through the first 3 boring minutes, Adam kicks into his parts at around the 2:50 mark, and at around 3:30 shows more stuff. They shoulda just let him sing the whole song

Yeah, not really diggin that - could be the glee like backing piano play along (and the fact it's a rehearsal) - but when Adam sings it, at the end, it sounds like an over use of vibrato...that and the fact it sounds like something you'd hear on broadway (aka Liza Manelli).
