Umm, why? I think most Dems, and Americans, are more concerned with the fact that the SEC under the Dems finally has teeth again - or at least the illusion of teeth. Come on guys, we all know that BO knew exactly what he was saying with that statement. She put it out there, and he played upon it. And he did it well. He was playing the game. Was it the right thing to do? Eh, dunno. Even though I don't care for him, I think it was ok. I'm personally more offended that he denied it than that he said it in the first place, and I was securely in her camp at the time.

This is something that happens routinely in politics all the time. It is perfectly legal for an outgoing Senator to have an interest in his or her replacement. Unless there is an exchange of money or assets, this has NO traction whatsoever and no relevance whatsoever, even if this known liar's assertions are completely accurate (which is very doubtful).

Hell, Obama even had to go off-issue and adress 'Piggate' in a separate press conference. As a candidate, that's a zero sum, lose-lose game. They're masters at organizing street teams to get out the ghetto vote primarily with money and drugs, and then they turn around and put on a facade, speak a bit more eloquently and fool dipshit whites to vote for "change." I've been watching this bullshit in Chicago for a good 25 years. The guy is a first class piece of shit and I'd be happy to tell him that personally. I'd tell his "spirtual advisor" Rev. Wright, that smarmy scum Rahm Emmanuel (talk about a guy that can work the streets) and terrorist chum Bill Ayers the same thing, too.

I thought the premise of this bill passing was lowering healthcare costs... yet.... according to the Health and Human Services Department that won't occur for 10 years :shock: .... and most likely will never occur if Medicare costs aren't lowered:

But the analysis also found that the law falls short of the president's twin goal of controlling runaway costs. It also warned that Medicare cuts may be unrealistic and unsustainable, driving about 15 percent of hospitals into the red and "possibly jeopardizing access" to care for seniors.


... so this healthcare bill will actually result in taking away coverage, from those who need it most... seniors...

The report's most sober assessments concerned Medicare.

In addition to flagging the cuts to hospitals, nursing homes and other providers as potentially unsustainable, it projected that reductions in payments to private Medicare Advantage plans would trigger an exodus from the popular program. Enrollment would plummet by about 50 percent, as the plans reduce extra benefits that they currently offer. Seniors leaving the private plans would still have health insurance under traditional Medicare, but many might face higher out-of-pocket costs.

In another flashing yellow light, the report warned that a new voluntary long-term care insurance program created under the law faces "a very serious risk" of insolvency.



Is it a wonder that HC companies barely opposed this?... seniors (read; Boomers) will have to find additional coverage at their own expense according to the HHSD... This HC bill is simply the HC companies way of gaining access to the largest remaining available pool of cash... Boomers retirement money.

That's correct, and that's also proof, that the bill doesn't go far enough. The Public Option should have been in there. The bill is too conservative. This shows that Obama was correct all along, that the Public Option was the best choice and that every citizen should have been covered. His view of what should have been done rather than the watered down version, would have meant huge savings.

To Hell with the Blue Dogs- they aren't real Dems anyway. Hope they all get waxed in November, especially Spector.

You know damned well there aren't cuts. We're talking about compromises that were forced onto the table by conservative Democrats - and ideas that were first postulated by the GOP. If Obama had gotten his way and there had been a public option, a lot of these prospective issues wouldn't be manifesting themselves.

...bottom line is if the existing HC bill requires Medicare cuts, and the DHHS says the cuts most likely will not happen, then your assertion that this HC bill will lower costs is FALSE

Further... if the DHHS also says that seniors will incur additional out of pocket expenses... ... then its not reducing HC costs to those who will need them most...

You can blame this on ABC, NBC, GOP, AC/DC, ABBA, Bush 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Reagan, Republicans, Martians, Granny-Mae, Jethro, or your momma... I really don't give a fuck... but an independent GOVERNMENT study says it will and all you have is "I blame the GOP and the conservative Dems"?

I don't think the study found that the bill doesn't insure 34 million. THAT was the intent. "Bending the cost curve" was just the sales pitch. Everyone knew the cost controls were a joke.

Anybody know anything about the passage in the HC bill about pulling healthcare workers into some kind of 'corps' to be used in addition to the military at time of need? I saw a tidbit about this yesterday on my way out the door, but don't know much else about it.

Obviously, as a nurse I'd like to be more informed of what may be asked of me. :?
