And an excellent post at that!! Don't have time to comment on each point, but
the kids ...tear!! It is ultimately our responsibility what we choose to put in
our bodies!! I read this very quickly, but I believe your words were sincere and
respectful ... you make a mother proud!!!
And Ging...is chicken really more expensive than beef in AR?!? :?

Hell no it's not more expensive..anywhere for that matter.....wait...boneless is more expensive, but bone in are as fucking cheap as Steve Augeri live vocal.

MG, Arkansas is the chicken state for shit's sake. Check that..they think they are, but we have more chicken here and frankly it's better. Foster Farms kicks Tyson Chicken's ass.

Aren't the French just pissy in general.......kidding parfait.......  But as I said, without a cut and paste.....it is easier said than done. I think it depends on how one learns to cook and what one knows. I am cooking much healthier meals for my family than my parents ever did. Education would help people of a new generation learn to look at food responsibly.

And you can just get pissed off. Each countries culture is a little different. Chinese people eat more vegetables and rice. I love both and prepare both. But as I said, depends on what is cheep in each country.

Around 65 % of the US is overweight in comparison. A national French study showed that annual overweight growth is around 17 %; in children! To correct the clusterfuck that is the food industry would be such a big job, that'll never, ever happen. The food industry have perfected the usage of cheap labor, to the point that a worker have to work a 16 hour shift to give them enough money to get by. The chicken you eat is most likely from Thailand; where a normal day is around 16 hours of hard fucking work. It's either that, or prostitute yourself to the tourists - that's how the food industry is! It can be tea, rice, chicken, spice, eggs - whatever! I gladly pay a bit more so that Ho Ping can go take the three hour bus ride from his tiny appartment to the village and go see his kids.

Think about it; China's obesity problem is almost non existent, and they live on far less pay than a normal working American/Frenchman/etc does. It's about taking responsibility of your own lives, and whatever routines you have. It's about stepping up to the plate (pun kinda intended) and do what's best, not only for your own body, but society as a whole. I'm not judging you Ginger, Lora, Lisa, Anne, Debra and Gertrud; I'm sure you all are fine moms, and hard working! But I've worked as a personal trainer for a couple of years at my dad's clinic, and I've seen first hand what real obesity will do with your body, your mind and the people around you. We had a beautiful little girl there once, Audrey, who was around 8-ish and she was completely crippled by her weight. She got bullied and picked on and just really couldn't understand why she had to be like that, when most of the other kids at school could play outside etc. And to see her face when she improved and lost her weight (I didn't interact with her a lot, since her cased had to be handled my professionals); man, that was fucking priceless.

It pisses me off that people (corporations) are so god damn hungry for money that they'd hurt kids, and grown ups for that matter (but they should be able to take some fucking responsibility, but most of them doesn't), in the process.

The direct medical cost of obesity and indirect economic loss to obesity has been estimated to be as high as $51.64 billion and $99.2 billion in 1995, respectively;[6] this rose to $61 billion and $117 billion in 2000.

That money could be spent on infrastructure, important health care or education. Instead it's tax payers money that are spent helping what's a self induced state of being. It's retarded. In fact, when you're eating all that crappy, processed industrialized food, you actually make a choice to condone how the food industry does things - and that's something I'll never do.

My daily food intake isn't as bad as you make it out to be either. I eat fruit, oatmeal, rice/almond milk products, salads, vegetables, protein shakes, whole grain rice/pasta, meat, nuts, fish, some soy, chicken/turkey, beans and lentils mostly. Eating and drinking rice/almond milk products is a personal choice, as I'm lactose intolerant. I wouldn't wish for my worst enemy to meet me after a glass of milk. I know you guys would think I'm a bit on the extreme side, but at least I've taken a stand on whether or not I want to want the best for my body, Ho Ping's family, and every little Audrey out there. We're so fucking lucky, that we should appreciate it, not go whine because chicken is so god damn expensive. Every action got a consequence!

Fucking hell, this post got to be my longest yet.

Parfait, I actually agree with a lot of what you’re saying here & I could be wrong but I think what gets people riled up is not so much what you’re saying as it is how you’re saying it.... & “no” I don’t expect you to change. I’m just saying.

Yes, there are common sense ways people could cut corners on their food budget & maybe eat a little healthier. First, for anyone who has a little bit of a backyard, they could try growing their own vegetables... not everything, of course, but the things they’ll use the most such as lettuce, tomatoes, carrots. There are other ways to make your food dollars stretch further. (1) Investing in a decent freezer & buying meat in bulk. (2) Investing in a FoodSaver & vacuum sealing that food you buy in bulk so that it doesn’t go to waste by getting freezer burn. (3) Canning vegetables (4) Making your own bread. After all, technology has advanced so much over the years that it’s not like when grandma was a little girl & her mom use to knead the dough by hand until her knuckles bled. These days, we have bread making machines that practically do the work themselves.

As for getting more exercise, walking is cheap. All it takes is a decent pair of shoes. Still, if someone is looking for something a little more “family oriented,” what about a Wii? I mean, it’s kinda like sitting in front of the TV or playing video games .... all except for the increased activity part. There are other inexpensive forms of exercise, such as playing volleyball. Heck, it’s just a ball & a net --- even a clothes line will work as good. Yes, I know there are going to be people who say they don't have time & there's not enough hours in the day & so forth, but anybody who spends at least an hour on Melodicrock per day, has the time. It's all in how you choose to use it.

So, yep, we’re pretty much responsible for our own bad habits & what you’re saying makes a lot of sense, Parfait. It’s just how you say it that generates the responses that you get ...... but then, again, if you were to say things any other way then MG wouldn't have anyone to love & she would hafta go back to loving Steveo.

Parfait, I am not arguing people should eat better, or should exercise. That is a no brainer. But most jobs don't lend time for exercise, and junkfood is all around. Have you ever been to a teacher's lounge? I avoid it myself, except to pick up mail. There is always cupcakes, and junkfood. Many offices have the same issues. I am just saying to ween people off of poor diets is easier said than done. Education would help a younger generation learn to eat better than their parents do, and infomercials teaching good habits would be good as well, that is mainly my point.

How many of you grew up in the clean your plate generation? Starving children in Africa and all.........don't be wasteful. That was all I heard as a child. Now I don't do that, nor do I encourage my children to do that. But I heard lots of parents tell their children the same.

And portions at restaraunts are ridiculous. My husband and I share a meal, and I know it pisses the owner off, but we cannot possibly eat all that they serve.

I am just saying old habits die hard. People need to be re trained to eat better.

It’s just how you say it that generates the responses that you get ...... but then, again, if you were to say things any other way then MG wouldn't have anyone to love & she would hafta go back to loving Deano's long schlong.

Ok Nostradamus. Just like what was said about Social Security too. That turned out to be a pretty solid program now hasn't it?

I would like to know, without being mean spirited, your number one reason for thinking the way do about this law. Please explain your statement. I am not being or trying to be an ass, which I obviously am, but I am being serious. Thanks FTLOP.

Meeee!! And I hated mashed potato's, they made me gag!! My mother tried anything
and everything to get me to eat them ...including putting them in an icecream cone, yes ma'am!! ;)

Mashed potatoes in an icecream cone? LOL! Well your mom was creative. My dad used to make me eat olive loaf. For those so fortunate to not know what this is I will tell you. It is Bologna with green olives and pimentos all through it. I am sure knowing my dad, it was economical, and he liked it. I used to gag at the thought of it. He made me eat it, and it came back up every time. I guess he gave up after a while, watching it come up in reverse was affecting his desire for it. LOL! Blech.    :x :P
