I find it amazing that no one named their team anything remotely resembling a Journey reference. Heck, no one even references melodic rock in general.....odd! :?

I find it amazing that you really thought anyone would let their team have anything remotely in common with Journey

Yahoo will actually be doing the selecting for you by taking the highest ranked player left in the draft queue and placing him on your team. If you want to change the ranking of any players for yourself go to the home page, go to "Draft Central" near the top and click on "Predraft Rankings", then click on "edit my rankings" and follow the instructions on that page.

Yahoo will give you 9 forwards, 4 defensemen & 2 goalies along with 3 utility guys (these utility guys are random forwards or defensemen that will also be in your starting lineups) plus 5 bench guys that don't accumulate stats unless you put them on your starting squad (it's your option to move a guy from the bench to an active spot for reasons like when one of your starters is injured or your bench guy/guys start to outperform a starter). So Yahoo will draft 23 players for you.

Can you do both at the live draft? I kinda did a predraft ranking, but more on a favorites basis because I don't know squat about any stats? So can I pick some, but also let Yahoo pick some high ranking players for me.

Well, let me say this...if you're present in the draft room, you have 1:30 to select a player on your own. If you don't choose a player in that allotted time, yahoo will automatically pick the highest ranked player for you. I guess it's your choice what you want to do. Occassionally yahoo will have a player ranked high that is actually not going to be playing for awhile due to injury, suspension, player being still unsigned [holding out], etc...so it does help to have a working knowledge of such players, so you don't get stuck with them. Now don't ask me who these players are, as I have no clue yet. I have done ZERO draft prep thusfar so I'm in the same boat as you. This is the same way I got through college...last minute cramming.

LOL, I won't be cramming. I'm just going to wing it. Pick some faves, if they don't get points, oh well............it will be fun!

How does this work, do we have to keep track of points or anything or does Yahoo keep tract of your players stats? I guess I can ask these stupid questions tomorrow night, but if I get smacktalked for them I might get pretty mouthy.

Each week you play against a different team. I see you are up against BJG this week. There are 9 scoring categories for your active skaters and 4 for goaltenders (for a total of 13 points). If you win a category for the week, you get the point in the win collumn. If you lose the category, you get a point in the loss collumn. You can also tie a point. The best case scenario is going 13-0 for the week. Worse case would be going 0-13. So, next week you go against strangegrey, followed by Triple S, tree, etc... and your record accumulates over the course of 22 weeks. After this time, the top 6 teams enter the playoff brackets where the remaining teams begin to be eliminated (top 2 teams receive a first round bye). It's a marathon and not a sprint, so if your team starts on a bad run, there's plenty of time for them to right the ship. With six of the twelve teams here in the playoffs, you can be mediocre and still win this entire thing.

Hockey sucks donkey balls! There... I said it. I hope you all get hit in the balls with an 80 mile an hour puck!!! :D    Just messing with you...don't get your panties in a wad! I actually played neighborhood pond hockey for a couple of years in Canada as an early teen. Like other sports though... I'd rather play it than watch it.

I don't know why I decided to share that... carry on!

This guy went to a college fairly close to where I live (Clarkson). While there he worked at a local bar/restaurant named "Eben's Hearth". If you go into the bar you'll see it's pretty much a shrine to him, as his hockey photos/jerseys are plastered everywhere. Next time I drive out that way I'll have to stop in and take pictures for you. Killer buffalo wings!

Instead of drafting forwards at specific positions (LW, C, RW), we just select 9 forwards. Add in 4 defenseman, 3 random players (we call them "utility guys" and 2 goaltenders as our active squad. It's so easy.

Deb, I'll even not draft that dude you call "Connie" just to "help" you.

Eight teams are in now...Triple S, Gin&Tonic, Treetop, Beshad, strangegrey, Uno (that's me), Proggie, & Rockindeano. We need two more. Four more would be even better!
