i find that my battery drains superfast on the rare occasion that i travel to an area that has weak cell service. it seems to use a lot of juice searching for that signal.

My phone does that. It's not one of them thar fancy fonez... just a regular non-cool phone (but it IS purple! ).
But still... and my sister's whole entire house is a dead zone, so my battery dies every time I'm over there.

The batteries in phones die quickly in low signal areas because the phone is constantly searching for a stronger signal.
