Sure, you have to have a halfway decent voice, bit beyond that it is image, and a marketable look/personality...100% psychology. The music consumer in this day and age are sheep...with todays POP and r&b culture ONE hit single can sustain a label for months...anything that follows is gravy. Bon Jovi IS irrelevant to the faction that were there since Roulette, She Don't Know Me, and Runaway...and that includes THIS fan. 27 years removed from the debut, they are cashing in on PAST accomplishments...Jon & co. are still riding Living on A Prayer...and they have LONG since forgotten how to write a decent rock anthem....
maybe, but I stand by the point that they would be irrevalent to the music industry had they not moved on from that sound. The fact that they are still selling albums and selling out large venues means the majority of the fans DID move on from SWW/NJ--or they picked up a fair number of new fans to replace those that didn't move on.
Every band deserves to grow and evolve their own sound. My beef if that Bon Jovi is cranking out low-quality s*** and people are eating it up, just like McDonald's. Neither are healthy for you.
I agree. It's not really that they move with the times and try to stay current and leave their earlier sound. It's that still most of their songs sound generic and nothing new or fresh no matter which genre they're trying like country-rock, save a couple of songs here or there. I agree with you, they need to bring in new songwriters to jumpstart their stagnant creative process.
Jana, you know we are talking Bon Jovi, right? Not U2....
