I'm one of the biggest Boston fans here, but Tom is a major prick. He's sued about every bandmate he's encountered.

I'll say this though. I'll put Boston in the HOF before Journey. Their revolutionary sound was something that turned more heads.

Is "The Human Riff" by any chance Frankie Sullivan?

Sullivan is my favorite riff guitarist. Mick Jones is probably my second favorite riff guitarist.

Thank goodness you used the word "favorite" and not "best" in this poll.

Neal has always been my favorite guitar player. Are there more technically sound players out there - - sure there are.

Some other older faves (and just those coming to mind, because there are way more) -

Schon and Luke. Tough choice as they can sound so similar. So similar at times its scary.

Neal is at his best when melodic. His shredding doesn't do much for me. Leave that to the Satriani's and Malmstrom's.

The fact he and Luke can make their guitars sing and scream and how they arrange them into the songs is what makes them my fav.

Wow, I didn't know this side of Steve Miller....

Besides Neal, if I could play like anyone at all, it'd be Chris Cain -

You know who's no slouch, and I wouldn't have even entertained this idea a year ago. That dude from U2. The Edge or whatever he calls himself.

I love Edge's playing. His more simple but distinctive style of playing is a huge part of the sound of U2.

Can't agree with this. He is a slouch in my opinion  . Very overrated. But that doesn't mean he can't be someone's favorite.

Steve Miller is an overrated piece of shit. His music is annoying and unlistenable. He should have stayed in the janitorial industry.

There must have been a bunch of overrated artists back when I was in high school and getting stoned. We thought he was pretty cool then, not so much now.

I like a few of his songs but, as far as his guitar playing goes, it just seems to me like he's barely a level above a novice player.
