Good ear! Paul Rodgers is a huge influence of EM's. That whole era is big influences on the band, they've commented on it a few times in interviews. Heck they named themselves after a Free/Paul Rodgers song and covered it quite well on one of their earlier albums....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mX2czFYB8ns

Great review Silvio. 8)

He's just being silly. :? Almost every Mr Big or EM solo article or review usually comments on EM's soulful vocals. Seriously S? you don't think he emotes? Or are you just shittin' with me? :? If you can listen/watch this clip and still say that, then wow......just wow? :o Great emotional delivery, hell, I'm damn near as spent as he is by the end of the song.

LOL! It's a Mars/Venus thing. I think women are just born with that extra gene in their DNA we can sniff out vocal emoting a mile away. Why do you think Journey was pegged as a chick band back in the day, it surely wasn't Neal's playing, it was Perry's emotive vocals. :) Hey did you watch that 2 of a Kind clip above. I think S2M is spot on here. He rightfully says Mr Big are talented mucisians and he even more correctly states they can't write catchy tunes. They suck as songwriters. They have one or two hits, period. They are not on the tip of anyone's tongue, except one crazy person in Calgary, home of the playoffless Flames.

Seriously, you want to hear emote in a voice song, listen to Perry. Hell Deb, Bruce emotes 100% more in his songs than does Martin. Talk about emotion? Perhaps no one puts more soul into a song(that requires one), than Springsteen. Even the haters can't deny that.

They don't 'suck' as songwriters. Sure, it could be better. And IMO, if Martin and Gilbert were writing the majority of them, I think they would be. For the most part, their charters have all been Eric or Paul penned songs. And puuuuuh-lease, you'll never convince me in a million years that Bruce is better vocally then Eric in any way shape or form........songwriting I'll give ya. But when it comes to soulful delivery, tone, range, you name it.....EM smokes BS when it comes to pipes. :P

I am not going to get into a pissing match with you over these two singers. Bruce IS a much better songwriter, a Helluva lot more soulful(when the song requires it), and lyrically superior. Oh yeah, and 1000 times the showman, the best ever in many minds. There's a reason one plays Giants Stadium for a 10 night stand, and the other does a one off in a LA bar.

Not grating on Martin, as she is a fine singer, but IMO, you give these cheesedicks far more superlatives than they actually earn.

If you'd have read the last couple album reviews in this thread, it's not just me. But IMO they've easily earned the superlatives. Pardon me, if I enjoyed reading the reviews of people that actually bought the album and have listened to it at least a few times.

:D But hey, it's all good, we like what we like! And MB are sooooo damn good live, I've almost been talked into coming down for another Cali show in August. Mind you, it's very easily done, my arm tends to turn to rubber when twisted to hit an MB (or JSS) show.

Because the first two don't factor into how I choose my music at all. The third does, and they have it in spades. Hell name me another band talented enough that every band member can play every other band members instruments.....ok except Billy on drums. But whatever, I like their playing, E's vocals, their song catalogue and killer harmonies and that's that. And actually, from a strictly selfish fan point of view I would much rather see MB in a small club than in Giant stadium. So I ain't complaining at all. If you ask me they've got the best of both worlds, selling out arenas overseas, and playing smaller/midsize venues in US. Very few rock acts are selling out arenas in the US nowadays, it's mainly pop, but for the ones that are like U2, Bon Jovi, good for them, but it's of no matter to me.

And song charting? Come on, you're not that stupid, even you know having a radio hit doesn't make it a GREAT song. i.e., Willow Smith's - I Whip My Hair Back And Forth.  And whether it's MB, Journey, Bon Jovi, even Springsteen..........9 times out of 10 it's the deeper cuts not the radio hits that I enjoy the most.

Yep, THE emoter! I have yet to hear anybody top his unique delivery.

LOL, out of my 3 faves, MB/EM is getting the majority of my support right now as they are the most active. Ok, and this reunion has been a loooong time coming for this fan. 8) But you know I'd be all over it, if Perry was to become active again. :) Haha what can I say I've got a thing for R&B influenced rock vocalists........that's why chances are you'll never see me supporting a rap artist.

PS.......I'm a little slow today. aamof??

Don't worry "Mitchie," when tickets go on sale, there is no real need to swoop in and grab em.....they won't sell out anyway, and how bad can a bad seat be at a fucking bar?

Part of me is mocking Deb, playing with her, and part of me is serious. This band cannot play theaters? 2 thousand seat halls? That's pathetic!

Venue size is your issue, they can play arenas overseas, I don't care if the venue only holds a 100. You just don't get it, I'd much rather see my favorite band in a more intimate smaller venue than in an arena, any day. That's a bullshit comment. Who the fuck wants to go pay 65 dollars to see the Greatest Hits played YET AGAIN? Hell, if given the choice, there are about 5 bands I would choose over another Journey show(same setlist 14 years running)....and I would choose a MB show over a recycled Journey show. And as much as you put Journey down, and bash their latest cd, why the fuck are you going? To make everyone around you miserable?!

And as much as you put Journey down, and bash their latest cd, why the fuck are you going? To make everyone around you miserable?!

ok...seems like I can't post anything anymore. you win. adios.

LOL, are you shittin me? You're going bye bye because I made a good point? Dude, you are going from BOS to PGH to see Journey. For Deb to do a CGY PGH trip would cost 10 times the amount you are spending.

I apologize if I am being to canvassing....shadowing...My bad.

Piss on my parade all ya want :P I'm a happy camper, ain't nothin' getting me down!

And again you choose MB over a nice trip to see Journey with your non-MB friends.... :P

 Sorry S, just can't justify putting my travel $s down on a current day Journey show. Besides, what's stopping any of you from heading west for what I know from experience is one EXCELLENT LIVE SHOW! :P I mean come on, how could you not love the energy of this clip? ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEEWKYHY--I .....audience feeding off band, band feeding off audience.......LOL it's a beautiful thing. Love Paul's Undertow guitar solo! Although I'm L-ingMAO at that bouncing head in the bottom left of the screen half way through, because I'm sure I was doing the same thing during my favorites too, lucky enough to be parked right in front of E's mic. LOL I prolly looked just as funny from the back too.

I like any good canadian, am watching the game, but I got to thinking Deb....you're full of shit regarding MB...You DO you if Bruce wanted to, he could play, organ, piano, drums, guitar, and sing...he could do an entire MB album.

Game over. MB is not all that. THATS, why why they play bars, not stadiums...you hear me? STADIUMS. Bruce plays ONE night what MB does an entire tour in the USA.
