Why? Because he called Sarah Palin a slut?

He called her a "dumb twat". Defend that.

Personally he can say what he wants and so can Rush as far as I am concerned. Any of you who buy into either party are fucking idiots as far as I am concerned.

Maher is not a puppet of EITHER political party. Limbaugh is a political mouthpiece for Republicans. Hell, at one point he was basically their biggest leader He is a propaganda machine for the party.

Maher is a COMEDIAN. Back during "Politically Incorrect", he said the only difference between the two parties are the special interests who supported them...and those who supported the Democrats were a bit less scary then the big business and oil who support Republicans. Nowadays, he calls the Democrats pussies who are scared to fight for anything, and the Republicans have basically gone insane....all point I happen to agree with. The fact is: he may lean left, but he's hardly the best friend of the Democratic party as a whole.

And, here is your example of how Maher is like Limbaugh:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGE3G5kfzps

Oh, wow, ten seconds of a comedic monologue. How offense. That is such a good comparison to Limbaugh going on and and on and on LYING about a lady doing nothing more then testifying before congress. Which, BTW, exercising a person's freedom of speech is something so-called conservatives SHOULD be all up in arms PROTECTING. WTF?

I mean, really, "speaking of dumb twats" is so not in the same league that I'm amazed that anybody with a brain would even think of bringing up that comparison. And, Palin CONSTANTLY puts herself out there in the public eye INVITING her lack of brains to be made fun of. She a politician and political commentator. If she can't handle late night humor, she should go back and hide in her cave in Alaska.

I think biased media commentators say things that they know will anger specific people and charge them to act in a certain calculated way. So, when that audience pays attention FOX, or Hannity, or Limbaugh, on the radio, they get all charged and start spouting off exactly what their preachers want them to spout on about. Then that spouting reaches others who may be conservative but not pay so much attention to the bias media and their preaching, but the agree politically and see that validity in that conservative religion so they too start making the arguments that the conservative preachers want. THAT is what drives the Conservative religion.

Maher is not a puppet of EITHER political party? Hmmm - The whole Maher thing came into play because he gave one million dollars to the Dems. You don't give anything a million dollars unless you are whole-heartedly behind it. Rush says a lot of negative things about republicans too - but clearly Maher is progressive and Rush is conservative.

You also mentioned Fox, Hannity, and Rush when talking about biased commentators leading their flock. I'm sure you meant to, but you forgot to mention all of MSNBC and most other media outlets for the left. Like I said, I'm sure you meant to be fair about it. Cause everything the right has, left has.

You forgot this one:

Who exactly are "those that supported the Democrats", Monker? Maher definitely isn't a puppet, and neither is Rush. Hell, everyone that I'm hearing trash Rush call him the 'mouthpiece' for the right, their defacto leader, etc. Doesn't sound like a puppet to me, more like the puppeteer, if you choose to see it that way.

Why can't all these non-catholics working in these religious-based institutions just get the federal plan? Don't they have a right to do that, under Obama's "if you like your current plan, you can keep it" premise? It sounds to me like there is an option.

I love how the advertisers/sponsors are crawling back to Rush and he told them to pound sand. Guess what ladies, anal is free and you don't need to use birth control.

Oy! Unless of course AIDS and other STD's are not all that cool with you. Contraception is a requirement of sex between two folks (unless it's a totally safe situation) in my opinion.

Providing contraception is cheaper than caring for an unwanted baby. I'm for it mostly.

That said, the skank Rush made the comment about is a privileged law student who can afford her own rubbers. I know she was there to speak about a friend, but she was there as a stooge and a very unsympathetic one. Her friend in the situation speaking would have been more effective.

Let Rush, Maher or anyone else say what they want. Don't like it? Change the fucking channel and don't listen. Targeting sponsors is a pussy move. If there is no audience these dipshits will be off the air on their own. Don't be afraid of opinions or commentary.

Oral contraceptive pills also reduce the risk of cervical and endometrial cancer with up to 70-80 percent. Another common use for the pill is for PCOS (one of the leading causes of female infertility) as well as providing protection from an ectopic pregnancy (which in almost all cases leads to non-viable fetuses). Limbaugh is a disgusting, drug-abusing, fat fuck.

How the church can think providing contraceptives are immoral is beyond me, but then I remember these are the same guys that said the condom didn't work. There's more noise coming from the church now than when they were caught running the worlds largest pedophile network.

I agree. The church is archaic. I grew up Catholic myself. However notice how the U.S. government bends over backwards to placate Islam but shits on Christians?

Don't know exactly about how the muslims are treated in the states, but they're treated like royalties over here. Say one thing about them, and they'll piss on your flag and burn your embassy.

Here in the states it is ok to submerge an image of Christ in urine but if you even draw an image of Mohammed you could be targeted for death threats. Something is wrong with this picture.

Draw a pic of him with X's for eyes and you get a death warrant AND you get called a H8R by the Left. Make fun of Christ and you're "edgy" and a "free thinker."

The way things have gone, I wager wearing a Mohammed costume for Halloween might even get you arrested.

So do you think all women should take OCs as part of a preventative medicine intervention? They're also related to increased risk of breast and cervical cancer, blood clots and heart attacks, ya know... In fact, there is a huge legal battle going on right now related to the use of Yaz.

The "noise" that you speak of is NOT coming from the catholic church. It's the political wackjobs that are trying to make this an election issue that are keeping the noise going.

Cervical cancer is in most cases caused by HPV, so that's a non-issue. An elevated risk for breast cancer is debatable at best, as there's conflicting studies. It's true that combined oral contraceptives increase the risk for cardio-vascular disease, but that's mostly for high risk group. COC does overall reduce mortality when compared to women that have never used it.

Never said all women should take it - so stop putting words in my mouth. Just pointing out that there's an important place for it in modern medicine.

It's no more a non-issue for the high-risk group (women who also have HPV infection) than it is for anyone else. My point was that the people using the "they reduce the risk of cancer" line are really out of touch with the entire discussion.

Ending a sentence with a ? implies asking a question (and it was a sincere question)... there was no putting words in your mouth. Little touchy, are we? :?

There certainly is an important place for OCs in modern medicine - that is without debate. However, there are ALL KINDS of medical procedures and medications that also have an equally important place. Why are we making it about this particular intervention...? Obesity is at epidemic proportions in the US, should we make insurance companies pay 100% on bariatric surgery? Even with my insurance, I still have to pay hundreds of dollars every time I need a new pair of glasses/contacts. I just had a situation at my job yesterday where a woman may need to stay at the nursing home because she doesn't have the fine motor skills to draw up insulin (even though she can give herself the shot once it's drawn up). Her insurance won't pay for the flexpen that would allow her to just turn a dial to get the correct amount of insulin. Average nursing home care costs in excess of 5-6K a month.

I think there are definitely more pressing needs in our healthcare settings than paying for OCs. Forcing a company to pay for something that is contrary to their religious beliefs is considered by many as unconstitutional. You don't have to agree with the religious beliefs, but you must respect the constitution. Why is it that those that yell the loudest about the separation of church and state are some of the same ones demanding the "church" to succumb to the demands of the "state"???

Liberalism does not have priests they follow about. MSNBC may have a 'liberal bias', but people do not shit where they say to shit. That is exactly what the conservative priests do. Some people take their word verbatim, without question, and run on the faith that their conservative priests would not lead them astray. Liberals may do that too, but it is no where NEAR as common as those who follow the religion of the conservatives.

Maher did not donate to the Democrats. That is a lie. He donated to the PAC that supports Obama. That is his right. If you are going to say that about Maher, you need to admit that every single person who donates to any PAC is a 'puppet' of whoever that PAC supports....and that entire concept makes absolutely no sense at all.

And, it only 'came out' about Maher because the insane Republican supporters have no defense for what Rush said...So, their only defense is to misdirect the argument to be about somebody else. What Rush said was an embarrassment and it is unbelievable that Republicans and conservatives do not universally condemn it.

What bothers me about the left is their arrogance and the claim that conservatives can't think for themselves. Yet the left buses in inner city homeless people to vote.

The 2 party system is broken. Those of us who can think for ourselves do not want to be pigeonholed into ideologies we do not subscribe to.

Agreed that what Rush said reflected poorly on his followers, just as much as what Maher and Moore, and Maddow, Olberman, etc have said.

Let me put it this way - Though I do think the left comes off much more angry than the right (not talking about the extremes), I don't really see one side more vile than the other.

And I am sorry - Maher said he specifically gave the million dollars to get Obama re-elected. His words. He cannot, by law, give Obama a million dollars. But he explained why he did it - for Obama. Just like the other Vegas dude gave Gingrich all that dough. You don't do that for nothing.

All I can say, from sort of an outsider, is that your feelings about the right and how they follow like sheep are exactly how the right feels about you and the left. Each side thinks the other must be stupid to believe something, and so they must simply be followers. I hear it all the time. Someone will repeat something Rush said and totally buy into and I think wow, what a nut. And then I hear someone do the same thing repeating an Obama quote and I think wow, what a nut.

The issue is that people are not seeing the hypocrisy in their own beliefs or party. And it's caused us to see each other as a bunch of idiots. And man the hatred. It really sucks. I know people that won't watch a movie if someone with a particular political view is in it. They won't sustain a friendship with a person that believes in the other party. It's pretty sad because we have forgotten about the 98% of things that we all agree on.

What they say reflects on nobody. The reactions reflect on those who reacted. The reaction from the conservative media - and the conservatives in this topic - is start pointing the fingers at Maher and 'whoever' else to distract from what Rush said. That makes you all look like stooges, because that is exactly how you are acting.

Of course he did. What's the issue here, exactly? He supports Obama over the insanity the Republicans are putting forth. He also said that unfortunately, this is how the system works. Millionaires and billionaires donate to PAC's that support the candidates they want to get elected. So, the prestigious billionaires support the Republicans...so as a common millionaire, he felt compelled to support Obama. That's a bit of a joke, but there is a point there, too. This is how the system works...on the one hand Republicans want corporations to be people and money to equate to speech....On the other, they throw mud when Maher 'speaks' with his money. Hypocrites.

All I can say, from sort of an outsider, is that your feelings about the right and how they follow like sheep are exactly how the right feels about you and the left.

I really don't care if the right feels that way. In fact, I admitted that some probably do act that way. But, the religion of conservatism is evident EVERYWHERE. it is ridiculous how some people stand by these priests, no matter what they do, or say, or act...it is the gospel truth some....and they spread it as such.

Each side thinks the other must be stupid to believe something, and so they must simply be followers.

No, it's more then that. Look at what FF did in this thread. He not only defended Rush, but praised him for saying what he said....and followed the party line of Fluke being a privileged stooge set up by Obama who deserved everything Rush said about her. Look at AR who now repeats the same party line of distraction by turning the debate to be about Maher instead of the absolute hate filled lies that Rush said....and equated one sentence in a comedic monologue to the barrage of stupidity that Rush spewed forth. They are not just 'quoting' somebody, but acting as the party wants them to act.

The issue is that people are not seeing the hypocrisy in their own beliefs or party.

I am not a member of either party and if someone wants to point out hypocrisy in my stated beliefs, then go for it.

And it's caused us to see each other as a bunch of idiots.

People ARE idiots In general, they seek out others who share their beliefs and congregate with them. They make their own 'truth', back each other up and support each other. When stronger personalities come about who can project those same beliefs, people follow them. When people stop questioning the right and wrong of those leaders, then, IMO, it is akin to worship and becomes a scary thing.

THAT is where conservatism is in politics today.

Like it or not, I don't see it happening to Liberals. Olberman and Maddow are small potatoes compared to Limbaugh, Hannity, etc. Michael Moore has a following but is mostly irrelevant, unless he has a new movie to promote. Maher gets critique from the left almost as much as the right....he actually tweetedHe about how advertisers dropping Rush to try to silence him was wrong. He may think Rush is a stupid, fat, dumbfuck...but that doesn't mean he thinks he should be forced off the air for anything he said.

So, there are no preachers with any power on the liberal side of things....no where near as powerful as conservative priests. Not even close.

And man the hatred. It really sucks. I know people that won't watch a movie if someone with a particular political view is in it. They won't sustain a friendship with a person that believes in the other party. It's pretty sad because we have forgotten about the 98% of things that we all agree on.

I agree....but it will NOT change until people see that these priests they are following are more like Hitler and Gerbels and masters of propaganda and instilling hatred, then EITHER W or Obama.

So, you are saying there are citizens in this country who should be ignored and giving them the opportunity to vote is wrong...and that somehow equates to pointing out how some conservatives follow conservative radio and TV talk show hosts and just repeat and do whatever they say. Interesting.

The 2 party system is broken. Those of us who can think for ourselves do not want to be pigeonholed into ideologies we do not subscribe to.

Well, when conservatives stop acting like a bunch of lemmings, people will stop saying they act like a bunch of lemmings.

Well, I don't think anyone who's fat should get their weight sorted out on the expense of the tax payers money. Being fat isn't a disease. But I see where you're coming from in lieu of the taxes imposed on you. I don't know enough about this side of the debate to participate to be honest.

The hypocrisy of the church gets me every time though. These disgusting hebophiles cherry pick what they want from the bible, suppress reason and modern science as well as bitching and crying every fucking time someone dares to set them straight. How can any sort of moral person be against condoms? They're dirt cheap. They're free over here - that's how it should be.

No, I am saying that you can be on either side of the fence and be very intelligent and committed to what you believe.

Labelling conservatives as "a bunch of lemmings" shows the arrogance I detect from many liberals.

And grabbing a bunch of people off the street who would not normally vote reeks of desperation.

Oy! Unless of course AIDS and other STD's are not all that cool with you. Contraception is a requirement of sex between two folks (unless it's a totally safe situation) in my opinion.

He said nothing about condoms. This issue is mainly concerning birth control pills; not condoms

Interestingly, I read last night that the catholic church has approved (for lack of a better word) the use of condoms for the purpose of disease prevention. I would therefore assume that those women who use OC's for other than pregnancy prevention is equally acceptable...? I would imagine it would have to do with how the med is prescribed by the MD. Seems a little iffy as to the semantics of it to me though.
